It means "naturally".
Really? Huh, I learned something new today. Whatever it means, they shouldn't be using it. It's almost always used as part of a Zero Context Example.
"Trope: [Character], natch."
"Natch" is one of those cases where people think they're using "breezy" language (from the TVT front page) when it's more "airheaded". Fire, kill with, whenever seen.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI would like to point out that usage of "natch", from comments I've seen on here, depends on local dialect. For instance, I use "natch" sometimes in my normal speech, because it's part of my local idiom. (I avoid it on TV Tropes, because this isn't the first time I've seen inquiries here regarding its meaning, so it's clearly not universally known.) There's nothing "airheaded" about it, and calling it such is rather offensive.
If it's being used as a Zero Context Example, though, it's bad, but that's only because ZCE are bad.

I personally think of it as nothing more than Word Cruft.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGood word on its own. Not so good in examples. Except if quoted.
Check out my fanfiction!Outside of the site I've seen it used with a negative context to it, like a single word "no duh".
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984One way I could see myself using it is in certain contexts where "of course" might be used sarcastically, like when making fun of someone's hypocrisy.
It has now been added to the Word Cruft page, along with the other hated ones used in ZCE's. At least you can search for this one, unlike AND HOW!, A Troper saying it (and how! not natch) to me in person would get glared at.
