One of these days, SSM will be involved with a title they develop entirely on their own that isn't God of War.

Anyway, it looks like a nice addition to the Playstation library. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it.

So, like, everything shooters are already doing except in the pa~ast. That's just exoticism, gussying up the everyday as the unusual. Dumb.

When can New Weird be a thing that games do already?

Umm, no it doesn't?

I don't recall any shooter having a steampunk feel based on the Knights of the Round Table.

I like the setting a lot, and it seems impressive that this was apparently produced in engine, but I'm going to want until I see a gameplay demo before passing judgement.

Sorta interesting setting. Need to see gameplay before actually getting interested.

I kind of had the same reaction Nicknacks had: I'm wondering if they're just using steampunk as an excuse to let the player use the big flashy guns they're accustomed to in shooters, but let them do so in the Victorian era for the sake of novelty.

But it still has potential to be a really interesting idea. Is there any gameplay information so far?

I'm interested in the premise at the very least. I'll probably buy this unless it turns into a generic shooter with a steampunk coat of paint.

Apparently it's in Hungaria or something and you hunt werewolves.

Odd. The trailer was set in London - Whitechapel to be precise. Interestingly, Whitechapel was the site of Jack The Ripper's murders, though he was 2 years later in 1888. Good for a final boss though, if the game takes place over 2 years.

I'm agreeing a bit with Nicknacks. It just seemed too much like the trailer for a modern military shooter, right down to the radio chatter, and the carriage ride seemed too much like an APC or something.

Very little Victorian flair, imo.

Melee action is much more fun...And better suited for a steampunk game IMO.

Evasive on the subject of Jack the Ripper, according to the interview. Seems you hit the nail on the head. And gameplay confirmed for third person action adventure, with "different kinds of gameplay experiences and combat situations". The mention of campaign suggests multiplayer.

Also, I like Gallahad's look. The mustache gives a real 19th Century Manly Man vibe, in contrast with the omnipresent stubble in most modern shooters.

[up][up][up][up][up] Jack the Ripper as a werewolf/monster, or a human Well-Intentioned Extremist or Renfield, perhaps? It could be interesting, although I do wonder whether it doesn't take away somewhat from that particular killer: I feel that part of the horror of Jack the Ripper is the thought that it was a human being that did those things...

The horror of Jack The Ripper comes mainly from the great frenzy and hysteria of the time, as well as overly-sentimental/pseudohistorical depictions of him as a forebear of the violent 20th century or a sign of Britain's decaying Imperial glory. He murdered, at the utmost, eleven people (though it was probably just five). There have been far, far more prolific - and sadistic - murderers in history. The Ripper's press-designated "spiritual successor", the Yorkshire Ripper of the 1970s, killed 13 That doesn't diminish the Ripper's horrific crimes, but it does highlight that the "We Didn't Start the Führer" objection to JTR as a supernatural force is a bit limp.

Soft body physics, huh? Pretty cool, but wouldn't it be stupidly resource-intensive?
