You can get a version free off the net though.
I probably need to get the thing that lets me use the wi-fi function, but once I get that I could probably figure out the Eshop stuff.
What's Cave Story about again?
Cave Story is a jumping-and-shooting action game.
Explore the caves until you reach the ending.
You can also save your game and continue from where you left off.
It's a Metroid Vania(ish) platformer with a darn near flawless difficulty curve. There's a plot, but it's one of those games where you collect the pieces of the story like any other powerups, so for maximum impact it's best that you go into it as unspoiled as possible.
Also, the soundtrack is brilliant. Unless you hate chiptunes. There aren't a whole lot of videogame soundtracks that I like enough to listen to on my iPod, but Cave Story is one of them.

@Inari: Yeah, but I hear the 3DS version's more polished and also portability. And I lost a fair bit of my Y file.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.The free version of Cave Story is the complete game. The various not-free versions of Cave Story come with extra features, but they're extras. From what I've read, the 3DS version has a few extra levels, a remixed soundtrack, and 2½D graphics rather than pixel art.
The eshop one is the 2d version. Also you miss out on Kool Aid Man Balrog if you get the free one.
Miss out? I prefer "Huzzah!", thank you very much.
Speaking of video game, I found something I like.
I GOT ACCEPTED INTO A CALARTS SPONSORED SUMMER PROGRAM.
Awesome! What's that?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Cool! Congrats!
So I'm in on CAPSA (which you can read about here), and it's a three week arts program for high schoolers in Summer sponsored by Cal Arts and hosted at VAPA, which is this weird artsy high school I've been to. It has a useless swirly thing on top. I got accepted for the Creative Writing course, and I've got a friend doing Visual Arts and another friend doing Animation.
I'm excited!
That's so cool, dude!
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Fucking sweet Inari. I hope you have fun there. And you know, learn about your chosen craft. These congrats are probably a bit late. Oh well.
In my news I finally got and SD card and got Pokemon Y to work. So 3D. So Shiny. Much Fennekin. Who I named Dave because fire. There are no TIME pokemon.
It's never too late for congratulations. Also, congratulations.
And congrats to you too for getting pokemon to work.
Thanks, guys! Also, Ace, I gotta battle you once you beat the game.
I'll have to figure out that wifi thing. Also, I was very surprised that we could pick skin tone. Only three, and two are pretty pale with one being blonde, but still. Nice to see how Nintendo wants to be inclusive of its audience. Sometimes, in spite of its faults, it seems like Nintendo is the only company that wants to be as inclusive as possible.
There is a salon for you to change your hair if you like the skin tone the blonde comes with but you don't wanna be blonde.
Sweet. I'll check it out when I get there. I went with the middle option though. Which was only slightly less pale.
For a natural blonde I usually don't like choosing blonde. Dunno why.
Yeah, I'm really glad for the direction Nintendo seems to be going in. They're including more female playable characters, a little more diversity (mainly in Pokemon, so far), nice stuff. Especially after E3. This suggests it is sort of deliberate too.
I would say that yes, it is. Also, who the heck is Rosalina? I've never heard of her.
Hey, broskis! (And siskies if there are any other girls besides me here)

Hey, you guys recommend getting Cave Story on the eShop?
