No... I know it sounded like I requested a full-fledged crafting system, but no, too much to ask, I meant more of an instance thing like, two pieces of machinery turn into an odd but cool weapon or we find an experimental prototype.

I could do things like... say... duct taping a flashlight to a pistol, attaching a homemade electronic sight, attaching an under-barrel grenade launcher, etc.

By the way, would any of you be in favor of say... a unique "power" for each class?

What do you mean?

• The Assassin can cloak for a bit.
• The Technician can send out an EMP "burst" that disables electronics in an area.
• The Medic can quickly regenerate from wounds.
• The Commando can get a surge of adrenaline and shoot faster, run faster, and do more damage.

That kind of thing.

I've been quite busy with summer classes as of late, so I've been skimping on the RP development.

However, one of my classes ends within two weeks, so that will free up a considerable amount of time.

That's good to hear!

I'll definitely have a character sheet written up by then, yeah.

I'm interested. How's this look:

• Name: Antigone Masson
  * Appearance: A middle-aged woman with bright, searching eyes and a bulging backpack slung over her shoulders.
  * Personality: Antigone normally wears a bored expression, but she becomes positively giddy when given a problem to work on.
  * Strengths: Antigone excels at kludging together creative upgrades and inventive devices with only scrap and spare time.
  * Weaknesses: Annie's insatiable curiosity can easily lead her (and the rest of her team) into blatant traps or risky situations.
  * Chosen Class: Combat Engineer
  * Quirks: Antigone is something of a hoarder; one she's found an interesting piece of tech, she will lug it around until she finds a use for it.
• Intricacies: Her handmade devices often don't work as well as the standardized versions, but she still preens over them and uses them whenever possible. Other people sometimes don't understand why she keeps giving them lovingly-made, mostly-useless machines.

Well she's interesting I guess. She needs work though. That's not what I really meant by depth. What are her life philosophies? Does she have any views of existence worth noting? How does she think life works? What does she think of humanity?

Has this already started, or is there still time to create a character?

•Personality: James is very "talkative" person, who enjoys helping people. He's also a man of "science", and enjoys learning new things, and exploring the world around him. He prefers not to fight (though he will if need be.), but this mostly just comes from an urge for self preservation.

•Strengths: Medical skills, independent, quick thinker. •Weaknesses: Absent minded, self preservative, rude.

•Chosen Class: Medic

•Quirks: Tends to ramble on, and on without shutting up at times, jumps from one subject to another, moves his hands around while talking.

Frankly guys, this will be a while until I get done. I've halted progress due to time restraints because of college. One of my classes ends... next week. As mentioned before, this will free up quite a bit of time.

I still need to:

• Work out the overall plot.

• Finish the dialogue.

• Work out a map.

• Work out game details like weapons, classes, and inventory.

Prom tbh I would focus more on narritive and extricate game mechanics.

As Spaz has put it before, it would be more practical to hit someone with a rock than a level eight animation. More effective too.

Well that's a fairly good set of traits. I would tweak them to be a little less... ehh... typical bookish introvert. The Medic in this sense is more combat-oriented, so he'd probably have to be better built for it.

Thanks for the advice. I may just... do away with technicalities. My whole intention is for this to be rather game-y; to feel like a linear sort of game like System Shock 2.

• Strenghts: Smart, agile, creative, patient.
• Weaknesses: often takes the easy route, close combat is not his forte.
• Chosen Class: Psimancer
• Quirks: Is a Cajun and speaks with said accent, and often integrates the dialect into his speech. Loves music. Tries to be as polite as possible.
• Intricacies: Like the great Teddy Roosevelt said. "Don't hit at all, if it can be humanly avoided;but never hit softly!" He would rather talk out his problems with others, rather than bash them away. But if you do make an enemy of him. He's not afraid to hit hard and hit where it hurts.

Going ahead and putting my character sheet here for review/critique. Do not hesitate to inform me if anything seems wrong or needs tweaking. I want to have my character as well-thought out and workable as I possibly can before this thing starts up. Also, I'll be online sporadically for most of today (it's a holiday, after all), so it might take me a bit to reply. Warning: this verges slightly on TL;DR in some sections. Here goes nothin':

• Name: Benjamin "Ben" Miller
• Appearance: 34 years old, tall, broad-shouldered and somewhat stocky, with a strong jaw and rugged facial features. Has short, curly, light brown hair and dark gray eyes. Of Ashkenazi Jewish ethnicity.
• Personality: Is very withdrawn and quiet, initially unwilling to make much contact with other people and only speaking when spoken to. He feels insecure in social situations and fears rejection and humiliation. However, he is not aloof and does warm up to others given time and trust, and he would do anything for those he cares about.
• Strengths: Has some (specialized) medical knowledge and a decent education, exhibits bravery and selflessness in the face of danger, is fairly physically strong and was a member of his high school's wrestling team.
• Weaknesses: Very self-conscious, low self-esteem, poor communication skills, lacks creativity and resourcefulness in dire situations, is mildly asthmatic.
• Chosen Class: Medic
• Quirks: Has a tendency to mutter (if he speaks at all) and a mild stammer, does not usually make eye contact, uses sparing Yiddish words/expressions, clears his throat when nervous.
• Intricacies: Miller is employed as an oral and maxillofacial radiologist and is content with his choice in career. He is also a divorcee after a brief, troubled marriage to a woman he met in dental school. Even though their relationship didn't work, he still thinks of her often and regrets that they separated. He was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder in his early adult years and is still undergoing psychotherapy for it. Although raised in a Conservative Jewish household, he drifted away from the faith as he reached adulthood. However, the aftermath of his divorce made him yearn for a sense of meaning, which sparked a return to the familiar practices and spirituality of his early years. He has trust issues and is fearful of growing close to others and possibly being hurt. However, he does not hold cynical views about humanity in general and believes his own defects are to blame for his loneliness. He wishes to continue working his profession and maintain a quiet life with a few close friends, deeply desiring a renewed relationship with his ex-wife despite consciously knowing that it cannot happen.
