Since no one here knows how to let me by, I sometimes have no choice BUT to cross by them...
David Bowie 1947-2016Ah, okay. I thought you meant cruisers◊, which are just silly.
The general type of bike we use here would be called a "city bike" or a "utility bike", I think.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...And that is why accidents happen. You might want to keep in mind that your bike is like a toothpick to cars, and your tiny body is even more fragile.
These are Nice Ride bikes.◊ I'm not sure if I should get a subscription.
Than what am I supposed to do when no one is letting me by?
I signal and I signal...
But no one here knows what it means....
David Bowie 1947-2016I've never seen these abominations on our streets before...
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Abomination is a fighting word.
Cats: Are those supposed to be bikes?

What the hell is bikesk.
Look, sometimes it ain't easy to write on a touchscreen keyboard.
You flip em the bird and make em wreck.
Cycling, HOLY SHIT YES.
My family moved back to the suburbs a couple of years ago and later on I was handed a five-speed hardtail XC in great condition. It's been my primary mode of medium-distance transportation ever since, and I always make sure to spend at least a couple of hours cycling on weekends :D
I haven't had the chance to take it off-road just yet, since everyone else in my year travel by motorbikes. A lot of my friends in the local WWF chapter and Tolkien society (basically the same thing) are cyclists, but I always seem to miss the group cycling sessions. :\
Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)Ugh I hate how city management here is so incompentent they can't make proper bike lanes and sidewalks where I live.

David Bowie 1947-2016Just got back from downtown,...beat my usual uphill record by 15 mins. But I'll be darned if that isn't among the most annoying four miles spent.

My dad lives on a hill. On top of another hill. On top of yet another hill. And I am not kidding. The topography of my dad's home town is severely borked. So, it's going to be a while before I go visit him on my new mighty steed. Besides, it's been so long since I had a bike I am a bit scared of riding on busy roads, and all the roads to his house ARE.
This week I am planning on increasing my rides by ten miles or so per round trip. Bring it up to around thirty miles a pop and see how that works out. Luckily, I have a really nice cycle path network starting less than fifty yards from my block of flats.
I have to admit I have flirted with the idea of getting a bike to get around while I'm here, especially since this town seems to be absolutely perfect for it. If it wasn't for storage issues,I may have bit the bullet and purchased one.
Because this town is absolutely great for cycling, and the Blue Ridge Parkway overlooking it I imagine would be quite a nice route.
But alas,I must instead wait to return to the folks.
This thread is dead, but I just want to post about how I'm going on Cycle Queensland next week!
I have a folding bicycle, a Dahon Espresso to be precise. I got it when I lived in town and didn't have a car. With 26-inch wheels, it rides like a full-size bike, but folded, it took up less space in my second-floor apartment. (Already had one bike stolen when I kept it chained outside.)
I grew so tired of getting flats in the debris-strewn streets, I outfitted it with a set of airless tires. No more worries, just hop on and go. They don't ride quite as well as pneumatic tires, but it's a trade-off I can live with.

This Space Intentionally Left Blank. My bike's trashed. I can't get the SPD pedals out and put proper ones in, and my suspension fork's so knackered it's irreparable. A new one would be expensive, as would getting it fitted, as I am mechanically skilled only with various forms of small arms. My gears are also shot - they need new cables and to be adjusted.
It's a bit of a bummer, to be honest.
The bike I'm going on CQ with is a tandem, dad'll be on the front.
Good luck with that. Tandem cycling's not in my skill set.
I miss my bike.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseI've been considering getting a bike for transit on campus. I haven't actually cycled in a while, and have somehow regressed to walking.
I'd prefer to get a folding bike, but then I'd have to find one with a rack I can secure my backpack to...
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiot
Exactly what I meant. Also, Plebs on cars?
