Tigris Inn

Amiri quickly made her way in front of the cloaked woman, she felt that she should be up there first in order to deter any attacks on her companion and employer.

There were four people in the designated meeting room. A man resembling a shark, a Golem, one who was clearly human, and a fourth one that she wasn't quite sure about. He smelled like a fox, but that might have been some fancy cologne or perfume. Humans and their strange tastes...

She cleared her throat to get the attention of all present, clacking her hooves on the floorboards for emphasis. "I take it you're all here for ze fliers?" She asked.

The sudden tapping of hooves on the ground broke Tiburon from his ruminations on the Golem. He looked back towards the door to find a tanned-looking Mountain Reithe, asking in an odd accent whether they'd come for the fliers.

"Miss," he responded, "I swam up what felt like ice-water for it. You're local fishermen'll be going home with tales to tell, no doubt. So am I going to learn why my men bugged me for week with those papers?"

With his head unmoving, Ganriel's eyes shifted up towards the newcomer, a Golem it seemed. "What a group we have here..." He whispered to himself. He then went into a sort of trance, as to block out all of the rambling and banter from Tiburon.

When he heard a heavy stomp, he looked up, and noticed a woman in her mid 30's it seemed, standing in front of them. "Redundancy is a waste of time. We're all here, so go on with the important parts." Ganriel sighed, drawing out his words.

THE MOLOTOV

Flint burst through the door after the others, his hulking frame shuddering with every step. He was merely planning on stopping in the town short-term when he heard about the task force. Seeing a chance to spread the word of his patron god, Flint decided to take the opportunity. Bazza had slated him for being in his own major storyline, much to the Badman's glee.

Augustin — Tiger Inn

Augustin shifted almost imperceptibly in his seat, relieved by Artyom's civil (if not warm) reply but Tiburon's comments made sure that the edge of his anxiety wasn't blunted entirely (even if the pirate had probably spoken in jest). Chevalier wasn't sure how much more of this interminable tension*

he could take.

Amiri's entrance gave Augustin a much appreciated reprieve. Springing to his feet, he bowed and said, "Of course, of course! I thought that my skills would be of use for... whatever we're doing. I'm guessing that is a question that will be answered soon?"

"Ah, actually..." The cloaked woman stepped out from behind Amiri. "The one you're looking for would be me." She lowered her hood, showing her face to the group. "Sorry about the wait, I wasn't sure how many would show up. My name's Luna, and I'm a ...mercenary. I spread around those flyers to ask for assistance in a sort of...quest, if you will. It is greatly connected to the cause of and the possible end of the war." Her eyes looked around teh room as she paused, gathering herself. There was a ninja, a possible human, a Sea Shark, and a...Golem? An odd group, but it could work.

"Have any of you heard of Caelum, perchance?" Luna asked.

"Caelum....not that I can think of." Another person to answer. "Is there anyone else behind you? This influx of people is making me..." Ganriel glanced towards Tiburon, "Frustrated. And to me, you don't look much like a mercenary. I've worked with enough to know them when they're near."

And with the mention of the end of the war, Leonard's interest was peaked. This was quite a beautiful little woman, and he might be interested in how this went. Caelum...he had heard of that from somewhere. He would need to do further research at home, but for now, this would occupy his attention.

He approached the group assembled as well, "Hmm, you seek to end the war between Solar and Lunar? My my, what a lofty, some would say foolish goal."

His two "men" followed after him.

At the mentioning of the war's end, Tiburon quickly wiped away a pool of saliva from the corner of his mouth. No war meant more trading in-between the continents, possibly. That, and fewer military vessels escorting trade vessels. On top of that, this could well make him a legend. But the chances.......

"Well, I've only heard of Caleum in passing," the pirate said, "But I'm all in for ending the war, that's a fact." His right hand had clasped onto his chest, "Just outta' the kindness of me' heart."

Caelum? Ending the Millennium war? This is a worthy goal. Even better, the monetary compensation.

The Golem watches Luna scrutinizingly, his pose rigid. He disregarded the Human's response- yet another who thought cynicism substitutes wisdom. He would have snorted at the Pirate's response, had he been able to.

Luna's explanation was intriguing to Augustin, if somewhat curious. As a mercenary, wouldn't she want the war to continue, so that she could get more business? However, any such misgivings were quickly smothered by the notion of becoming a grand hero that helped create world peace. It was a seductive offer sweetened by the handsome pay.

"Caelum? Now where have I heard that before...?" Augustin rolled the word around in his mouth a few times, trying to jog his memory. Realisation flashed through his mind like lightning and he snapped his fingers. "Oh yes, now I remember!"

Leonard's intrusion into the conversation was met with a withering glance. "And what would you suggest we do instead?"

"I simply stated it was a lofty, some would say foolish goal. I did not say I am averse to such a goal. Contrarily, I find such a goal to be reaching high, to grasp beyond what the nobles and wealthy would call our "stations". And that...is to me, one of the most awe-inspiring, respect commanding things out there."

He then removed his hood, showing a very interested smile, "And provided that this plan manages to keep my interest, I might be capable of adding a little something to it."

"Ah, I've only been a mercenary for a short while, mostly to have more freedom to travel. I'm not exactly a cutthroat yet." Luna said in response. She smiled before continuing. "Caelum is a place spoken of in the Celestial Guide, the fabled island in the sky where All supposedly created after sealing away the great Chaos deep within the Earth. It is said to have everything that All knew stored in a library, including information on the Seal of Chaos. This may seem rather unrelated to the war, but in reality, it might be the very cause of it." Luna's smile faded a little.

"President Seleno has been acting...out of character over the last four years of his term. He was never very into the military, but he still insists on fighting regarless of the increasing casualties and the stalmate on the front lines. The Solar Empire was both stable and powerful twenty years ago, so they had no reason to crave more land to take over. It politically made no sense for this war to have even happened. So why did it?" Luna paused a moment before continuing, as if she wasn't sure if she should be saying any more.

"I believe both leaders are being manipulated by someone...or something. war creates chaos, and the only being to benefit from that is Empty. legends say that Empty can influence the weak of hearted and manipulate them to persue its own goals. But the seal should prevent that form happening, right? Unless...the seal is weakening. It's been one thousand years since our world has existed, and one thousand years since the Seal of Chaos was created. If the seal really does sexist, and it really could break, I want to find a way to fix it before it's too late. Are you guys still interested?"

She wishes for us to help her put a perhaps more permanent end to a Deity?

"You have piqued my interest. Completely. Count me in. If it means shooting an arrow into the eye of a creature like that who proclaims itself divine, well, then our goals coincide."

She just....rambles. "Have any of us left yet? I'm still willing to go under the circumstance that you don't over-sell your points." Ganriel shifted slightly. "I'm getting restless and unless you have a house full of money hidden somewhere in this room, I recommend we get going." He walked up to Artyom, "Why is this even here? If it doesn't talk then we'd do better scrapping it and selling it." He walked over to the door slowly with his back turned to the group and said, "I'm going to go get something to eat." and started out the door.

"Well how about that," Tiburon said, "It won't be a moment after you-surface people get on this sacred island that you'll deal with piracy." The shark-man laughed heartily at the ridiculousness of the situation, of what he'd been called to do. This was a wild goose chase of epic proportion, if he'd ever heard of one.

"I think you're all mad, least of all for the reason that I don't like heights, but I'll play along if there's capital to be had." The coin, which had still been flipping in-between his fingers until then, was flipped once more into his opened satchel.

Then Ganriel voiced his complaint.

He shot a confused smile over at the assassin. "We have the chance to be legendary heroes or legendary fools, and you're cranky about it?" he asked. "And they'll be no scrapping of our company here. I already called dibs."

We haven't even started on the quest, and ALREADY I want to stab someone in our group. Amiri thought as she slapped a palm against her forehead. There were going to be problems further down the road, that was for sure. She shook her horned head as she turned back to the matter at hand. So many people asking for compensation, it made her sick, and even worse there was the way that a few of them had treated the Golem. Racism wasn't something she looked forward to dealing with, even if it wasn't directed at her.

She cleared her throat before speaking up. "You already have my support, Luna." She had been traveling with Luna for some time now, after all, she wouldn't just abandon the girl now.

Augustin paused to consider Luna's offer once more. It all sounded a little crazy - perhaps insane - but really he had been travelling and questing for long enough that he knew that even the most bonkers notions occasionally turned out to have a solid kernel of truth.

"Well, it's worth a shot, isn't it?" Augustin slowly got up from where he was sitting. "Even if it turns out that it was all for naught, well, at least we tried."

"As for the golem, I think he would appreciate it if you didn't keep threatening to scrap him," he added airily. "Though they don't seem to talk much, they're obviously just as intelligent as we are." That last statement was a slight guess since the adventurer had little experience with golems, but he felt comfortable taking the chance that the golems weren't intelligent.

"'I'll remind myself the humor of the seas stayed where it was" Tiburon said, throwing his hands up into the air. "It's not like I really intend to do anything to the golem, personally. I've seen less than handful in my life, and I know they're a damned valuable to have on your side!" He pointed his arms to the person of interest in the room, as if everyone hadn't been aware.

"Two of them I'd seen had a back-and-forth with whoever was working the ship -granted, it was during an absolutely dreadful attack- and they seemed intelligent enough." He crossed his arms over his chest, calming his tone to something that the others might not have heard beforehand. "And I made damn sure they went on with their lives afterwards. I weren't all kidding about what I said before. But something ya' learn as one of the most wanted men in the Great Bite is that in the face of these sorts o' odds here, what ya' are is a little smaller than what you're doing. And that applies to much more than the golem's kin. So up until what we're doing is done, or we're dead, pardon me if I face it all with a laugh at our expense." He took in a deep breath, not all used to having to for extended periods of time.

"I'm gonna need a pint for this."

Luna didn't seem very phased by Ganriel's attitude at all.

"Excellent. Before we all leave though, I need to get something from Gealach first. I would greatly appreciate your help in finding it." Luna pulled out a blue, pearl-like object as big as her palm. Inside, it looked like flowing water. "This is the Water Key. From the information I've already gathered, it takes six Keys to get into Caelum, one for each element. The problem is, I have no idea where the other five could be. But I do know where to figure it out..." She walked over to the window, looking at the President's Castle. "The President has the book that I need, but we would have to break in to get to it. I planned to do so tonight, but it would be much easier with more help."

Augustin — Tiger Inn

Suppressing an urge to launch into a tirade (or at least make a scathing remark) aimed toward Ganriel, Augustin let his eyes fix upon the Water Key. The subtle patterns in the spherical object were oddly soothing to the kitsune. At the very least, it looked the part of a "Water Key". Gently following Luna to the window, Augustin felt his hair stand on end when she suggested breaking into the presidential castle of all places. If nothing else, she had a surplus of courage. Hopefully her smarts were in similarly plentiful supply.

"Miss, no disrespect intended, but I hope you have a plan," Truth be told, Augustin was already thinking of a way to get everyone inside. It wasn't perfect, but if she didn't have a plan (or she was open to suggestions) it would hopefully be serviceable.
