Does Not Illustrate: Blood On These Hands

I was over at this thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1369756773031560100&page=1#12

And it was brought up that Blood On Thease Hands needs a new pic because it's a metaphorical thing, so actual blood on actual hands is to literal.

With that horrified look on his face I think it works. I don't want to take it away unless we have something to change it with.

That's why I made the thread, to get suggestions.

The problem with the current is that it's too literal. This trope is about the phrase.

And even if we do go literal, I don't like how over-the-the-top the image is, we need something more subtle.

Honestly, I say pull the current.

It's too literal. It will lead to misuse since people coming to the page, seeing the image, going by the name, will just assume it's about a dude with bloody hands.

Add my vote to pull, which makes three. A few more, and we can pull.

I'm inclined to agree with pulling the current pic for being too literal about a figurative trope.

My only concern is that it will be somewhere between difficult and impossible to find a pic to illustrate the trope without it showing literal blood on hands.

We may find ourselves in the situation of deciding between either a literal picture (in which case the current is okay) or no picture (because it's impossible to illustrate the trope non-literally).

In other words, the decision may be between a poor pic and no pic, which seems to me to be grounds for keeping the poor pic under the guidelines for trope pics.

It should be pulled because it obfuscates the meaning of the trope. It's worse than doing nothing; it makes it seem like the definition of the trope IS about someone with blood on their hands.

I posted my support for that in the other topic.

I agree with moving the pic to These Hands Have Killed. This trope is about symbolism so in this case no pic is better than the current pic.

This and the related thread are gathering dust and there hasn't been any new developments, so I'm gonna lock both threads.
