Shin Megami Tensei IV *SPOILERS ABOUND*

I'm not peeking, but if it's even Paul Eiding-like I'm stoked.

I was hoping for Keith Szarabajka, owner of the most terrifying Creepy Monotone voice in human history.

I'll admit, you have a slight edge in those fights if you've read ahead a little and know that, when Merkabah and Lucifer call Flynn a false messiah during his insanely stupid charges, there's more than one way to read it.

I feel so behind; I'm not even level 40 yet!

Boy, Asahi is... yeah. Her presence really makes the game feel more like a generic RPG. Does she ever stop being a total stock character? Who single-handedly got Flynn captured, no less. I kinda don't see how someone lives in a world like Tokyo under the dome and yet is still so... Asahi.

Boy, I am liking Dagda. He's a jerkass, he's selfish and rude, but damn if he doesn't have style.

So Gaston, eh? Not going to lie, he is damn entertaining. Can't wait until he and Navarre actually interact.

I had no idea how much I would like Hama and Mudo spells actually doing something.

Hordes are... something. I was wasted by a Jack Union a while back because they just. Kept. Calling. Reinforcements. They got up to 4 before I finally died. Fortunately Death Is a Slap on the Wrist even more than vanilla IV. At least they give decent EXP.

But PRAISE STEPHEN THAT THEY ACTUALLY MARK THINGS ON THE OVERWORLD MAP. Seriously, how did IV even make it out the door without that?

By the way, one of the bar patrons around the point I'm at confirmed that Mikado's time isn't faster, Tokyo's is slower. This was kind of ambiguous in the original.

It was? I thought it was made pretty clear. How does that work with the hole in the Firmament though?

I must say I do like First Form YHVH. He at least tries to pass his actions off as justified noble till they reject him and he takes the demon form. Then he acts like Old Testament YHVH.

Much better than Megami Tensei II or SMTII where he was an arrogant ass from the moment he appeared.

I think I took on the Black Frost Challenge Quest three or four levels before I was supposed to. It was a pretty fun, intense, bare-knuckle-brawl of a battle because of it though! Hama and Mudo actually dealing damage is really throwing me off, since Light is Black Frost's weakness and I didn't think to cast Hama spells until the final quarter because I was assuming he had the standard Contractual Boss Immunity status to it.

I also love the fact that I can be hit with one and not start swearing.

It doesn't, time flows normally after Shesha makes that huge hole.

So is there any point at all in doing the Law or Chaos route? Do you get a dot or something on your save file like you did for Nothingness?

And got to the Cosmic Egg! It's... Well. I like the very small bit from Nocturne in it with the souls flying ever upwards in it resembling Magatsuhi.

Me. I gave her a side glance and it shook her up super hard because it reminded her of Flynn.

Alright, cleared out the first four bosses in the Cosmic Egg! It's a shame the two between Baal and Inanna didn't have little rants like Beelzebub did.

Gotta say, I was not expecting Tsukiji Konganji to be expanded as much as it was.

I'm about there now as well. Looks like the Powers are running one of those scam religious retreats.
