Well he's wrong for the wrong reasons. Dagda got a design based on him being a god of death/life ingame and being a major demon got a unique design for it, something Kaneko has done even for minor demons like Satanael in Soul Hackers, who is always missing amongst returning Grigori.

Danu was pretty clearly designed to fit with him since she is his mom.

Satan is much better as the design we got since it's his Beast or Revelation appearance with some chained to hell imagery of which there are three seperate Beasts to boot.

Miroku and Maitreya are distinct and different from each other which fits honestly. Even that it goes beyond the names. Miroku is a Japanese inspired Buddha while Maitreya looks like a Buddha one might see elsewhere.

Maitreya's grin and tubby gut would seem to be based on his Laughing Buddha form, who was taken into Shinto as well.

Yeah that's why I think he was designed in mind as a Japanese antagonist amongst the Poly Alliance/Divine Powers. Even his clothes are something you'd see a Japanese deity wear.

It's just the Mitra reveal complicates it due to Maitreya=Mitra having the same origins. An origin Miroku would lack.

They're not really cognate deities, they just derive from the same root word, the Proto-Indo-Iranian for "Friend." Stealing Knowledge has said some things about how Atlus attaches a lot more significance to these name connections than most actual mythologists do.

Yes well good for him, but Atlus isn't the only one to do this. It gets done in other Japanese media. Even outside Japan we grt stuff like people combining Cronus and Chronos because of similar names. He throws tantrums when this is a thing done and deities can be found in multiple religions even under different names.

Kanek even explained in the Nocturne strategy interview why.

Cronus/Chronos is just a mistake IIRC. They're just homophones, no real etymological connection at all.

And yet the two are still connected to each other because they have similar names even today.

Of course there's no actual connection in myth, but that hasn't stopped anyone. In fact Eirikjr shills persona despite not being interested in it anymore and they did that very thing in PQ.

Looking at those concepts, I can definitely see why a lot of them were rejected. Most of them are good (save for that Satan one IMO), but they're not all that exciting. They're designs that you'd see on generic demons in one of the 90s games; they lack that extra X-factor, that oomph of impressiveness you'd want to see on plot-important antagonists.

From what I gather he likes Persona but he doesn't like what he sees as its popularity influencing other branches of the franchise.

No he's mentioned he's not into those like he was when 4 came out in 2009, but he'll still praise them while complaining about SMT because it's not the way he wants it.

He seems to have a slight Irish accent, though there's a lot of English accents that turn "to" into "tay" so I can't say how well it's done yet.

So there's finally an explanation for how the gauntlets choose people. Those descended from the Counter Demon Force who lived on the surface with Akira when the Archangels offered them a place when the chosen arrived are predisposed to being chosen by the gauntlets.

Also the triggers for the DEMONIC GENE are explained.

1.Lack of Archangel presence leads to people becoming demons. 2. Forbidden Knowledge which initially awakens as increased aggression, etc.

Those with Unclean blood are apparently immune to the transformation or at the least resist it far better.
