Frisk literally uses singular "they" pronouns in-game
like even if you want to believe their gender is "blank slate that could be anything", there's still no need to mangle grammar with ridiculous "him/her" "(s)he" type constructs.
e: Especially since the "anything" in "could be anything" would necessarily include every non-binary gender under the sun. To be factually correct, you'd have to expand those constructs to "him/her/them/em/it/co..." for every pronoun in the universe. Stick with "they".

I am not the biggest fan of SansyBones work, I admit (though that's not to say I don't enjoy it at all or admire their effort!), but as far as Gaster's characterization goes...
Well, besides taking into account the only confirmed instance we have of the man speaking showing a person who, by my reckoning, seemed somewhat less than concerned about, uh, restraint in the pursuit in his research...
I look at him, and with the consideration that his defining trait is his non-existence in the game, I can only think that it would only make sense if his traits would also not fit with the rest of the game. Which is to say, if anyone in the cast is going to be a completely irreedemable bastard, it'd make sense to me if it was him.
I don't favor the abusive dad interpretation myself, but... Well, my take on Gaster is yet another of too-many stories I might want to tell.
Edit: Aw, jeepers. How'd we get back into this while I was composing this post? (I do have to laugh at how I seem to be the only person who still enjoys this one as a topic... Despite me also being a person who has said their peace on the matter.)

I don't even care about Frisk's actual gender right now, I'm just mad about pronoun amalgamates.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeyup. "they" is an umbrella term that covers all genders and won't offend anyone (well, it might offend people who've made their maleness or femaleness very clear, but still)
Anyway, no more fucking gender discussions can we get a thread wide ban on those if you want to call frisk or chara "he" or "she" that's fine but be aware that "they" is canon for both

What, I'm pretty sure that there were only 5 Amalgamates in the True Lab

I always imagined that Gaster was kind of the cold, calculating type that really got excited only when he was making progress in science, and that he loved his Sons/Grandsons/Nephews (depending on his actual relationship with them) but thinks they haven't reached their true potential. I don't know much about Sansy Bones portrayal of Gaster, but I never thought of Gaster as abusive. (No monster is really abusive or malicious, except for Flowey... and maybe Jerry)
Also, I like to think that Gaster and Muffet had a relationship of some kind. It would explain why she's in the Core and not in the Ruins.

I think I've seen more of a negative reaction of merrily mentioning the gender discussion on this thread, rather than the heat from the topic itself....
@Smartgirl: You aren't allowed to ban topics of discussion, and yelling about how much you hate that discussion is really not helpful.
OK, no ban, but I will change the topic awkwardly whenever I notice one because arguments only build grudges. Deal?
Or you could just simply not participate in said topic. I believe the people know well enough not let it get out of hand.

So where did the River Person being Gaster's wife come from?
it was a plot twist in a certain askblog and i guess it got popular
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartSo the game now has its own That One Boss page, which consists of something like two-thirds of the bosses in the damn game. I find this unreasonable.
Hah, what. Lisa has its own page too? It kinda got overshadowed by Undertale but I guess it has a passionate fanbase as well.
The only boss that gave me some trouble, strictly speaking from first time experience, in the Neutral/Pacifist Run is Muffet, Metton Ex, Photoshop Flowey.
Everyone else in that route isn't that difficult. Though having the temmie armor reduces the difficulty of the other fights might be why there less difficult.

WA HA HA HA
asriel no
non toxic.
Howdy!
you used to love my smile
Well, it is easier to keep the discussion from going places when half the thread decides to just sit it out and avoid a derail.
Didn't we discuss this already? We said that, besides Genocide, all the bosses in Undertale don't qualify. They're all fairly straightforward.
What can I say? I've always been a fan of weird crossovers that manage to keep the tone of both works involved. Not saying I'd be able to pull that off, of course
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."GUYS
ME AND MY ROOMMATE WERE BOTH WEARING OUR HEADPHONES
BUT LISTENING TO THE EXACT SAME SONG
AND WE DIDNT KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(the song was ASGORE so its relevant)
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartOmfg Jack's flowey voice is PERFECT
He's quite proud of it!
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.I think the fact that Undyne plays the piano is one of the little things I like the most about her character.
My opinion on the whole gender debate is that Frisk/Chara have no canon genders, but they likely have A gender, whether that be male, female, or even nonbinary. I'd contrast it to Homestuck where supposedly the main characters are all canon aracial.
On Sans, Sans is a lazy cat. Nihilism and a lack of drive are a bad combination. So to Sans, it doesn't matter that you killed everyone because you'll just go back and kill everyone again. And again. And again. But if you finish Genocide you will basically destroy everything, either being forced to submit to Chara's whims or manually editing the save data, which effectively destroys all timelines in any case. Sans won't fight you if he doesn't absolutely have to, even if you do the worst possible thing you can do to Sans personally.
His powers seem to be directly based around both his own abilities (it's straight up stated that Papyrus is extremely powerful, it's likely that even with Sans' low physical stats he is the same), his knowledge of the workings of the universe, and the absolute shitton of Gaster blasters he has at his disposal. He knows exactly what to do to make fighting him absolutely infuriating, because at the end of the day that's the main thing Sans wants.
To me, Chara and Frisk are both boys, and no one can tell me otherwise.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!
