Wonderful write up! Excellent year!
...didn't I put in quintuple redundancy in the Northern Aquafer? I'm just asking, because it seems like there should be no way for them to smash through all of them before somebody hit the lever to flood them out.
Edit: I could have ripped that out as part of my "non-magma safe magma trap" technique that I tried, but I really thought that I had five glass floodgates sittin' pretty.

"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarI let the next in line know they are up.
Who watches the watchmen? They ripped out the single floodgate for the reservoir next to the fort proper's entrance. The aquifer is still secure. If they had successfully damaged the hole into the aquifer, wouldn't we need to cause a collapse to close it back up again?
(Edit)Now I'm tempted to drill into an aquifer to create an artificial lake. If I could invite in caged merfolk migrants and other imported fish, it could end up as an inclusive, equal-opportunities Innsmouth!

Cooking up plans to bring fan-groups together (with a dash of class)A future project should be to cover up the water source and make sure it can't leak in on us.
I am going to go through the list in its totality and ask if those listed are even still interested.
We are down to 11 people. I have feeling One other person on the list is not ever going to reply so I will cut them if they don't bringing us down to 10 people on the list.

Who watches the watchmen?Hmm, I probably could have gone straight through winter and handed it over on New Year's.
Though I suspect many other people have higher-priority tasks around now, and will be Attending Parties later on.
Cooking up plans to bring fan-groups together (with a dash of class)Huh. I went through an entire turn and never even realized that was there. Perhaps I need to pay more attention to outside rather than inside next go-round.
(Spoiler alert: I won't.)
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarWell Caspellar didn't reply to his pm so we are moving on to see if Durza will pick up.
Who watches the watchmen?Durza...
Durza...
This is the literal, honest truth.
I am working on Christmas. So is my wife. That's because we're not as important as the guy who got drunk with the RVP in college. Between the 12th and the 17th, we managed to get a few days off together.
They will not be spent playing Dwarf Fortress.
You understand that, yes? You will pick up the game, and spike it into the ground for me, yes?
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarIf needed yes.
Enjoy the time with your wife man. I just now got someone trained at work that would allow me to do the same.
Just gotta wait and see how the turn chain develops.

Who watches the watchmen?Tell you what Condo. After your Holiday with your missus you can catch your skipped turn then.
By the time I get up tomorrow if Durza hasn't replied I will move the que along.

Who watches the watchmen?YAY!!!!! :)
The Condorito is a happy man! :)
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarWe just managed to make a place that doesn't slow down due to lag; I don't want to see it fade into obscurity. I still understand that everyone's busy at this time of year, so I would be willing to wait.
Cooking up plans to bring fan-groups together (with a dash of class)Still say we should at least breach the cavern layer...I wants me some underground trees. And some Fun.
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarThe lack of lag is why we haven't busted into the cavern.
Who watches the watchmen? Can somebody mod in like, a single tower cap? Is it like the 2cat thing?
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarSo it comes down to my turn again. I'm downloading the save right now, and I should have some shtuffs done tomorrow at the earliest. Beware
The most edgy person on the Internet.Wait! I just got back from vacation! I was creating the Dwarven S.C.R.U.M. (Self-Contained Recreational, Utility, and Manufacturing) Holes. I want to then throw our most valuable dwarves into the S.C.R.U.M Holes and make sure that the only way they ever communicate again is through the delicate art of manufacturing.
But if you really want to play, you can. I was hoping to see if I can add some more terrible references in.
I've been watching a lot of Evangelion lately.
And Bravest Warriors.
(Okay, I lied about the Evangelion)
(I only wish I lied. I've been re-reading Shinji and Warhammer 40k

"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarCondo: Well you and Ringsea are free to work it out. If Ringsea chooses to keep on you will be next on list.

Who watches the watchmen?I can do it. I can not do it. It's all good with me.
If Ringsea wants a go at it, this'll be the second time he's stepped up to the plate. We can switch our turns permanent-like.
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarJust a quick heads up: Depending on when the fort comes my way, I might have to skip my turn. I have a lot of other things that needs to be done before mid-January and might not be able to find the time to oversee Jawmetal in between (it depends on how well things are going by the time I get the fort). I'm fine with both Condorito and Ringsea taking their turns in whichever order they feel like before getting my chance, so there is no need to rush the fort along to me; I'm just mentioning it so that those after me are aware that their turn might be sooner than expected.
Goblinium et Elfhippium delenda est!
Then after Ringsea, I'll grind the Fort slow-like, and give you a chance to get your mid-Jan stuff done. I start school on the 22nd, so I can't really do a Thing anyway after that until I get re-acclimated.
"...An overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome..." - Eric Burdon/WarI'm fine with letting you take it, Condo. I wanna see what horror you unleash.
The most edgy person on the Internet. So you guys doing this switch or what?
Who watches the watchmen?(fun fact: the S.C.R.U.M. Holes require dumping. And dumping is currently being used elsewhere. So no dice. Have to come up with a new atrocity.)
Jawmetal has been around for five years. For five years, the Fort has stood against the ugliest and most insane that the world had to offer. Mostly from the dwarves themselves, true, but several times from the outside. Though it still looked more like a fortified camp in the wilderness than any Mountainhome, there were glimmers of greatness on the edges.
That was, of course, despite the dwarf Condorito seizing power. Again.
"MAAAAAAAGMA POWERED STIIIIIICK!!!!!"
Durza winced slightly, each one of his eighteen senses flayed by the stupidity assaulting them. Infinitus and Bladebound stirred from their usual game of Thursday Beard Measuring/Waving long enough to ensure that the call came from several hundred meters away, then got back to Serious Business. Hermunster, Pyroi, and Azreal heard the echo from where they were all futilely tasked with stopping a pond from forming where an aquifer was breached. They ignored it - they were outside, and just wanted to get their krutzing work done.
The only one who could not avoid the ire of the Boozesmith was the Good Wizard Galvin. Who looked more irritated than terrified.
"IT NEVER RUNS OUT OF MAGMA!"
The dwarf crosses his arms, waiting for Condorito to appear. Soon enough, he obliged. Somewhere along the way he'd stripped off his shirt, and painted himself garishly bright colors. Where he found bright colors was best not discussed.
"MAAAAAGMA POWERED-"
Galvin raises a hand. "Stop."
Condorito stops rampaging, merely idly smacking a wall hard enough to destroy the engraving.
"You came here because you want to be in charge, right?"
"Alright. Fine. Quit hitting things with that stick, and you can be in charge."
You could see the moral dilemma etched on Condorito's face. On the one hand, he wanted to boss people around. On the other hand, he really, really wanted to thwack people with a stick.
"Can I just...?"
The wizard/cook shakes his head.
"This is a jive-ass fort." Condorito mutters, throwing the stick into the nearest magma flow.
