Tempted to use Spain, in both games
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.Spain is always a good choice
I will find a random number generator site and then I'll make the RP's as soon as I can. I plan to release East vs. West and Imperial Glory within the same day.
I hate to double-post, but I have PM'ed the rules for East vs. West to Stratofarius and will be posting the game as soon as I hear back from him.
The same will be done for Imperial Glory when I PM Raineh Daze with my rules for that game.
Hm. Just to serve as a reminder for Bean: even though you have the most space, you have absolutely none of the requirements for a technological society if you take one of the tribes (starting with an agrarian society, and last I checked metalworking).* I think, at least.
... which should at least balance out the fact that that's one big continent. @_@
Avatar SourceI think that while the North American tribes have just inklings of technology here and there, they a. have a lot of time, space and people, b. don't need to care about other countries near them and c. have some time before anyone else finds them.
They have the resources, it's all about a bunch of bright minds knowing how to apply them. The Aztecs (or was it the Mayans) managed to develop a bunch of useful technologies with the stuff they had, didn't they?
That is true
Stratofarius, could you reply back to the East vs. West rules I sent you?

Thing is, you have to catch up on metalworking to achieve a lot of stuff, which basically requires agrarian society in order to actually effectively get the metal.* Migratory lifestyle = bad for gathering materials that don't move.
Now, if it's the Aztecs? They're fixed in place... they just kind of have a lack of actual materials. Stone. Wood. Food. Very nice, but metal is amazingly popular for a reason.
So yeah, lots of people, don't have to deal with other people for ages—but that's a lot of technological progress to catch up on. Everything balances out.

Avatar SourceIndeed it does
Bumping once more to announce that East vs. West's signups are now active. Imperial Glory will be up later tonight.

As soon as the RP starts, work on the Grand Lithuanian Empire will begin!
And it might eventually include a sky palace.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."umm...I know I'm kinda late to the party and this is an incredibly stupid idea probably but would something like the Majapahit Thalassocracy work? >.<

That could work
@North America: so all I have to do is make a tribe that'll stay in a fixed place.
Doesn't seem like much of a problem... -goes on google to find the most prolific area of the US in terms of resources-
Most profilic. Not even sure that's the right word.
You're going to have an entire continent that's vastly larger than anything anyone else has to play with, and your immediate enemies are going to get exponentially weaker as you begin to build things up, and you want to cherry-pick your starting location? Err... no, please don't. Even if this has a system, it's still a roleplaying game, and the aim isn't 'beat everyone ever'. :/
Avatar SourceI was considering it because there's also the chance that I'll end up staying in an area that doesn't have that much resources, like Canada.
No need to be so abrasive, I'll just put the North American tribe somewhere else.

Putting a claim on Spain.
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.Accepted
So, if my Majapahit idea doesn't work out I guess I'll try something from this list, maybe Ryukyu, Ceylon or something on Mainland Asia...
I must be the Aztecs and sacrifice sheep to god.
Silva Hooooouuuuundso...yeah, officially asking for/claiming the Majapahit Empire.

Any of the Muslim nations could work, except the Ottomans, at least until the Byzantines are built up enough to survive.
