Depends on how Imaishi and co. go about the character drama aspect they've mentioned in the interviews, but conservative estimates have the "starred-uniform defeated per week" thing to stop being a focus around episode 6 or so.

That makes sense, and assuming the Thread Lost mechanic means that Ryuko will be powering up with every victory, that should be about the time that a regular two-star wouldn't even be able to dream of challenging her.

It's been fun.

Next episode was directed and storyboarded by Shouko Nakamura, who also did work on, among other things, The Woman Called Fujiko.

Expect it to be even more lewd.

But man, the first episode practically covers he entire funny page. I wonder how much it will expand in the net episode.

Yeah, but he only did episode 6. As far as Fujiko Mine episodes go, you could get a hell of a lot more risque.

Now if it was the guy who did the first episode...

(Watch it turn out to be the tamest episode in the show.)

Just got a look at pics of Kill La Kill's first episode on Sankaku Complex. The Gurren Lagann shout-outs (that drill thing, and the suspiciously Gunmen-like thing) alone got me would've got me interested enough to put this on my to-watch list. Has this been subbed yet?

Yeah, it's been subbed for nearly a week.

It's been fun.

Sweet. Will watch ASAP. cool Seriously, we need more tough delinquent-with-a-(hidden-)heart-of-gold girls in highschool-setting anime/manga, even if only as supporting characters.

I finally actually saw the first episode, too. I have to say, surprisingly enough, I'm not all that fond of the action so far (too many messy cuts and crazy lines everywhere, doesn't get actual motion across very well for me), but I am very fond of Ryuko. Her voice is wonderful and so is her attitude. That smile she had when the gang of kids challenged her showed a lot of personality, too. She's a good dude. I like her a lot.

Indeed, she's good people. I'm not sure there's much depth to her, but there doesn't really need to be to enjoy her onscreen presence. One potential problem though is that there's not much room for her to grow as a character, which could weaken the narrative arc overall. Especially if the action doesn't appeal much. I mean, there are two haves to a conflict in a show like this: the action and the drama. TTGL understood this quite well, but it remains to be seen if this will properly imitate that as well.

Frankly I'm skeptical because the uniforms just seem like a terrible storytelling decision.

Interestingly, the creators have been quoted as considering Satsuki just as much a heroine as Ryuko, so that could easily become a very interesting character dynamic.

It's been fun.

Satsuki was also somewhat surprising. She's "the moe character" and appears to be little more than comic relief, but I was impressed by how she handled her little brother. Hardly an act of great heroism, but it was one of the things that showed she's more than just the obligatory cute girl.

Satsuki is the student council president. You're thinking of Mako. =)

Satsuki's the villain, not the sidekick. Took me a while to parse that too because I forgot her name, but luckily we're at the precise level of insanity on this site for this show to have a detailed cast page after one episode.

I'm not entirely sure how I managed to do that. But yeah. The boundaries between good and bad seem pretty clearly established here, so it'll be interesting to see how she develops, too.

First episode had its hang-ups, but since TTGL means a lot to me, I'm pretty positive that this'll turn into at least a worthwhile series.

If the first episode was 5/10 in the lewd scale, the second one 12.7/10, not only from the girls, but from the man.

Seriously, the teacher pass the whole time that he has without his shades making erotic poses and showing off his sculpted body. Free! has nothing on this.

Yeah, the teacher sure is sexy.

Next episode is a Satsuki focused one, as well as the name of her own similar outfit to Ryuko's, Junketsu.

Also, the way the finishing moves of the day are said (when ryuko cuts off their goku uniform) is very much like Hokuto no Ken in a way. I like it.

Conversely, if the first episode was a 9/10 for me, this was more like an 8/10.

Good and very entertaining, but not nearly as much polish as the first.

The OP is a toss-up too. Nice song, uneven content. The ED is better in my opinion.

I thought the opposite, the animation in it was nice (even if they had a lot of stock footage there) but the song was really generic.

But yes, the ending was really better in pretty much all ways.
