Voice-wise, as someone who has reasonable familiarity with Japanse (Asia, lol), I can say that a lot of English dubjobs don't quite capture the feel of the characters, although there are some genuinely great dubs (Vandread, Cowboy Bebop, The Big O).
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! At the end of the day, I prefer subs because if someone sounds wooden in Japanese I can't tell. So what could ruin an otherwise entertaining program passes unnoticed.
I legitimately have issues with sound sensitivity, so the Japanese fixation with giving cutesier female characters very high-pitched voices may make the Japanese voice tracks unlistenable for me.
KLK managed to have both a very good Japanese track and a very good English track, though, so hey! Neat!

I sure said that!Would now be a bad time to mention I have never heard of UNIQLO?
@pheer: They're a Japanese clothes company, with marketing that sounds amusingly like REVOCS corporation's.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I've seen several stores of theirs here in London, and literally none anywhere else in the entire country.
I have never seen a Uniqlo store here in my life.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Another question about the dub: How many episodes have been dubbed so far? I ask this because I'd imagine that about a couple months after the dub is finished, there might be a Region 1 Complete Series DVD announced {Which I am so going to buy}.
The dub is up to episode 14 right now. Eps 15-19 should be out in February in the US and the last volume's date should be announced sometime soon.
I really ought to start rewatching the show in English soon.

I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Alright, thanks. I'd rather just wait for a full DVD box-set instead of buying the series in individual volumes. I also hope that said DVD will have the OVA too, cause I haven't actually seen that yet {I used Netflix to watch the show, which doesn't have the OVA}.

This is pretty much my take on the sub vs dub debate.
furthermore (and permit me a little rant here) i'd also like to add that something that bothers me in this whole debacle is that a lot of pro dub arguments come from anglophones who are frankly in a pretty privileged position to even be able to hear most things in their native language anyway, considering hollywood and all means most shows and movies are in english. people in non-english speaking countries pretty much have to rely on subs for just about everything.

Verdammt richtig!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. And what, that's our fault?
Besides, it's not like there aren't plenty of native English speakers who prefer subs. What about them?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."it's not and admittedly i probably should have made my wording less accusatory and made it clear that i'm not *accusing* anyone of anything, nor am I saying it's wrong to have a preference. It's just that a lot of people i've come across somehow can't grasp the idea of not having audio in their native tongue, when it's not exactly a novel concept for a lot of the world.
i also had another point i wanted to make or tie this into but my mind just kinda blanked.
i primarily watch subs out of habit, but i don't really care how people choose to watch anime. i'm also grateful for the fact that the quality of dubs has gone up in general to the point where most are at least passable, with some really stand-out cases for pretty great dubbing (oddly enough PSG is probably my favorite anime dub, the only thing I really miss from the japanese is the hilarious engrish).

My only true complaint with some dubs is that the voices chosen aren't quite suitable for the character or are different enough from the Japanese originals that it becomes very jarring.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Awww... the dub of Kill La Kill hasn't been released in full yet.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).My god Stephanie She was so perfect as Nui!
"A Lady does not start fights but they can finish them"Aniplex likes to release the episodes of a show over a period of months each, to milk the revenue for all they're worth.
Haven't even seen anything with Nui yet and I'm not surprised. She's one of my favorite dub actors specifically because she's got a ton of range and nearly always puts in solid performances.
"No will to break."We knew it was coming, but damn does it feel good to have it confirmed.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yo, whaaaaaat? Awesome.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I didn't realize this until after the facts, but KLK finally being on Toonami is not gonna help its Hype Backlash.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Nobody cares, commence hyping.

Pretty much how I feel on it. But people go on Youtube and demand that the dub be marked inferior, and that people who dislike the subbed version are just dyslexic, or too lazy to read subtitles.
First three episodes of KLK down. I didn't know that the team behind it included former Gainax employees, but it shows - Senketsu reminds heavily of Gurren Lagann - the eyes, the shape, the color scheme. The second the action got started I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I love how the (apparent) main antagonist skips the formalities and agrees to fight in the second episode.
