Episode 3 was shown at Ufotable Cinema a few hours ago. Amazingly, the people who saw it haven't spoiled it for everyone else yet, but their reactions seem to indicate that it blew their minds. It's going to be a long wait to Thursday...

Saw the episodes. Wow.

It's delightfully insane in the best possible way. You need to rewatch it 2-3 times to catch everything because there's so much going on in every animation frame it's crazy.

Aside from some questionable elements that I'm sure have already been discussed, one of the best animes I've seen in years.

Stupid ninhonjins, not giving the spoilers for episode 3.

If ep 3 is a Wham Episode...well, my guess is that Satsuki does something like "Ryuko! Be mine!"

By now the only wham it can provide is being a perfectly ordinary episode where nothing exceptional happens.

I sort of see the show as an animated Aristocrats joke. Honestly, I probably should get offended, and I don't go about trying to defend the thing when people voice their problems with it, but almost every damn thing in this instead has me giggling, no matter how heinous.

In other words, sometimes I royally suck at feminism. This is one of those times.

The "Third episode plot twist" tends to be a thing in anime especially recently. Right now it looks like an insane series but so far is still a Monster of the Week style. Perhaps Ryuko is the type to take The Signature Nanohana Method of Villain Targeting.

To be fair to her, "problematic" had been run into Earth's molten core, and finding new terms is hard.

But yeah, that was some pretty heinous word choice on her part.

Anita is a con artist and has no business to be in this thread.

At any rate, while still no spoilers have surfaced, apparently Japan has no idea on how the series will advance after episode 3. As in, they are going like "this is the final episode?!", "where do we go from here?!", "holy fuck!" and so on and forth.

Have you seen how fast Japanese fan artists work? T&B got "fetish theme of the week" art for just about every episode within 24-hours of them airing. They have no excuse.

I have seen show accurate cosplay of Ryuko's battle uniform already. The Yuri crowd have really dropped the ball here.

Oh lord I hope he gets some Yaoi moments. It will be glorious.

One shouldn't take the ability to construct deconstructive analyses that seriously. If you embrace Death of the Author, you can construct one for just about anything, and, more important, enjoy doing it, if that's your cup of tea.
