Star Wars: Rebel Squad Signups

Hey all. So, I've had, in my mind, a quest to do a Star Wars RP for awhile now. The premise of this RP is as follows...

You are a member of the Rebel Alliance, for whatever reason. Due to your special skills/combat experience, you have been handpicked to be in the newly formed, elite Rebel squad known as The Hunters.

The Hunters has been put together by Bail Organa as a type of Black Ops squad, designed to take out high Imperial targets, as well as rescue captured operatives. This will be The Hunters' first mission together. Teamwork is imperative to your survival. The fate of the Rebellion rests on your shoulders.

As for characters, I'd prefer it to be OC's, however I will throw in some canon characters during the campaign. Speaking of canon, don't worry too much about continuity. So, seeing as a squad is pretty small, I'm going to say 9-10 squad members are allowed. If more are interested, I think I might have a way to work them into it. Now, as for characters, I think your NAME, AGE, SPECIES, WEAPONS, SKILLS, and how you ended up a Rebel will suffice.

Oh, and our merry band might need transport, so if you'd like to play as a Rebel pilot, I think I can work you in.

Also I, and I'm sure the rest of you, don't want any OP characters so here's my policy. Jedi/Force Users are not allowed. This is mainly a squad composed of Badass Normals so I think a Force User would make everyone else's character feel a tad useless. However, if you'd like to PM me and explain why you think that your Force-using charcter would work, then I might ease up. Also, OP alien species such as Gen'Dai are also not allowed.

Now that all of the restrictions are out of the way, let's get to the fun stuff! I want this to be enjoyable for everyone, so if you have any questions or ideas about the setting, please let me know. May the Force be with you! ==========================================================================================

Damn you! I promised myself no more RPs but you've started a Star Wars thread! My one weakness!

Character sheet to follow.

  • Name: Brin Sirac
  • Age: 21
  • Species: Human
  • Weapons: Blaster Pistol
  • Skills: Signals Intelligence, Human Intelligence, Counterintelligence, Psychological Operations, Basic combat training
  • Background: A young and idealistic little boy from Alderaan, Brin was singled out for his focus and discipline; although not the smartest of his classmates, he managed to stay on par with the smartest thanks to his excellent work ethic. After reading a paper that he wrote at university on the practical applications of sentient terrain preparation (preparing the populace to support the objectives of a military campaign), a recruiter from Imperial Intelligence approached him and he was eventually enrolled in the Operative Training Course with a specialty in psychological operations and basic familiarization courses in various different sources of intelligence gathering and combat. Although he graduated and was officially made an operative, Brin was put off by the attitudes of the other students and his co-workers, who were more interested in their own personal power struggles than working together as a group of disciplined professionals. Sickened by what he saw in Imperial Intelligence, he eventually defected to the Rebel Alliance, as much out of spite as a desire to change the galaxy.

You know if it's got Star Wars in the name I'm all over it.

  • Name: R3-BP, "Beepy"
  • Age: 3
  • Species: R3-Series Second-Degree Astromech droid
  • Appearance: Beep boop
  • Weapons: I guess it has like a short-range charge gun, and a fusion cutter, though the latter is a tool.
  • Skills: An astromech droid designed for all sorts of ships, from capital ships to starfighters, with skills in maintenance and repair, as well as interfacing with strange computers. It has all the regular astromech features, so it has gear like data interfaces, a hologram projector, rocket boosters, a cable gun, etc. And a tiny little port on its head where it can hide something lightsaber-sized and then make it pop out when you're doing a jump off of a ship over a sarlacc pit.
  • Background: Beepy is a droid who was made as part of the R3 line of Astromech droids. Now this quirky lil' guy is property of the Rebel Alliance. It's on this mission because he's a robot. What? You gonna trust an organic to remember hyperspace coordinates?

@Hourai Rabbit: Doesn't seem OP but I'm going to need a backstory before I can accept you.

@ Troyand: Sounds great! I'm going to say accepted. However, can you please edit in how Rakk came to join the Alliance?

@ Sixth Saint: Again, I'm going to need a backstory before I can accept Ria.

@nman You really like your droid characters, don't you grin? Beepy is accepted. ==========================================================================================

  • Also, some info about the setting. It is going to take place one year before the Battle of Yavin (1 BY). The only things I'm regarding as canon are the films and both Clone Wars cartoons with some EU elements pulled in as I feel like it grin. So, again, please don't feel bogged down by continuity. I'm going to be pretty lenient towards that kind of stuff.

I'll put in a backstory, but I could use a bit of help picking a race first.

Ooh, Star Wars RP. Consider me interested in that pilot spot.

Edit: Nevermind my earlier question about the time period. Pre-Battle of Yavin, huh? I guess my character wouldn't have been involved in taking down any Death Stars then. Yet.

[up] Nope, but who knows? evil grin

[up][up] Well, it's all up to you. Both races would be interesting. Why don't you think up a backstory for both races and then pick the one that feels right?

  • Name: Arcil Terrek
  • Age: 25
  • Species: Human
  • Weapons: Blaster pistol
  • Background: The son of an independent freighter pilot, Arcil learned the ins and outs of starship operation from a fairly early age. The jobs on the outer reaches of Imperial space were occasionally risky thanks to roving bands of pirates and smugglers, but never too dangerous as Arcil's father rarely took jobs involving openly illegal cargo. Then one day, out of sheer bad luck, they ended up caught in the middle of a turf battle between warring pirate families. The local Imperial peacekeepers showed up, indiscriminately branding and capturing all ships involved as criminals and killing any hostiles. Arcil lost track of his father but ultimately managed to escape himself during a prison riot, stealing a pirate Z-95 and making it to the Outer Rim. With the family freighter gone and no credits to his name, Arcil sought out Rebel Alliance contacts and joined as a pilot. Lately, he has made a name for himself in several skirmishes, outperforming (and outsurviving) many of his wingmates and earning himself a squadron leader designation.
  • Skills: Arcil is a naturally gifted pilot and starship gunner capable of flying starfighters, airspeeders, and combat freighters. He is a decent enough shot with a blaster, able to defend himself and provide cover fire if need be, but he is no foot soldier and likely wouldn't last long in any dangerous areas on foot without an armed escort.

[up] Accepted! I imagine you'd want to pilot the shuttle?

CombatC122 from The Frozen Icebox Since: May, 2011

[up] Yes, and/or be involved in any space battles. I wanna fly X-wings and Y-wings smile. (Also A-wings and B-wings, but I don't think those were invented until after Yavin according to series chronology, so I assume they won't pop up until a little later)

Hmm, I may also add starship repair to my character's list of skills if that's okay.

Honestly, I don't care when the EU says those things were invented. You can fly them if you want. Maybe, I could attach one to the bottom of the transport freighter. And yeah, starship repair would be a nifty little skill.

[up] Well, I was thinking about signing up with a mechanic.

Had a nifty idea that the pilot and the mechanic could be a duo that has been working together for a while.

If that's okay with Combat C, then I have no problem with that. I've decided to have a GMPC as the leader of The Hunters, to prevent any PC's from squabbling over whose in charge. He is a canon character, though a little known one.

  • Name: Grimgrim
  • Age: 132
  • Species: Wookiee
  • Weapons: Blaster
  • Skills: Incredibly strong and is a skilled tactician from his experience at the Battle of Kasshyykh
  • Backstory: (Since Grimgrim really didn't have a backstory, I decided to make one up for him.) Grimgrim always wanted to be a warrior since he was a cub. Having served heroically in the Battle of Kasshyykh, Grimgrim later escaped his home planet aboard a refugee transport where he ended up in the underbelly of Coruscant. He later met a Rebel contact and joined the Alliance.

Combat C, what do you think?

CombatC122 from The Frozen Icebox Since: May, 2011

I could also be the head of some kind of official fighter squadron escort for the shuttle that does some ground support. Or our transport shuttle could simply be armed to the teeth. I imagine most of the wingmen would be NP Cs unless other players also want to fly.

Also, a designated mechanic would be fine too. I think Arcil might know enough about how things work that he could perform minor repairs, but he wouldn't know how to personally prep his ship before every battle or salvage old broken down ships or anything like that.

...Or if we wanted, I could make him know absolutely nothing practical about ship repair.

Actually, I was thinking that the Hunters would be kind of performing stealthy missions, so an escort probably wouldn't work. What I was thinking of for transportation was a YT-1300 freighter with maybe a starfighter attached to its underbelly. What do you guys think?

I hope you reconsider.

Also, general announcement; I'll probably open up the discussion thread later tonight or possibly tomorrow morning. I'm hoping to start the actual RP by the weekend.

I guess I'm fine with whatever ship assuming we get into at least the occasional space battle. Not that I intend for my character to be completely useless when he's not at the controls of a ship, but I don't see him mowing down stormtroopers or infiltrating deep into Imperial bases on his own.
