Right now, they're self-crowdfunding - and a warning, if they don't make the goal, they keep the money.
Jonah FalconThe Necronomicon is not a toy, dammit!
Pat from Two Best Friends Play, in a serious moment, posted his opinion on this project and the people behind it on Facebook. He's firmly in the non-believer side, to say the least.
I'm conflicted to say the least. On one hand I love Eternal Darkness and would love nothing more than to get a sequel. On the other hand I trust Dyack about as far as I can throw him. We're talking about a man who outright stole money from publishers to fund Eternal Darkness 2 in hopes that it'll get picked up by another publisher. A guy who tried to sue Epic over BS reasons and in the process had his company go belly-up with a court order for most of their games be destroyed. This whole thing has scam written all over it. Had Precursor decided not to have Dyack employed in their company I might be more open, but then I realized that the only good game these people made was ED, and that was only because Nintendo did a lot of the heavy lifting. I guess the best outcome for this is Nintendo realizes there is demand for a sequel and has Retro make a proper ED 2.
They've got an actual kickstarter now as well, on top of the thingy at the Precursor site (up for seven days now and currently stuck somewhere around 10%).
Chances of this being a scam... Rising...
I wonder if this will turn out like Ko A - a good or maybe even stellar game followed by Precursor imploding due to shenanigans.
Ehhhh call Kingdom's of Amalur a great game is kind of stretching it. It had a good combat system and customization but the world and story was just so painfully generic. And the studio imploded because of incompetence on the part of the investor rather than the CEO fighting a frivolous lawsuit he was destined to lose.

So after a week they suddenly have US presence?(Bollocks anyway, there are plenty of Canadian kickstarters) Or did they realize they where not making enough money with their own platform.
I have no faith in this. Dyack is a hack and they need Nintendo to be involved.
As someone said before ED 2 by Retro, that is something i want to see.
Best thing to do is just cross your fingers.
Jonah FalconPretty much. At this point I'm hopeful but not optimistic.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryThis feels like a major rip.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Denis Dyack himself has commented on the Facebook page mentioned above. Here's his full post:
You say "They are asking for money, straight up, on their website. They do not have to hit their goal. They can merely say they will make do with the money donated, and take it, and go make whatever. In addition, they are merely taking raw donations on their website, not even going through something like Indie Go Go, which has rules about how to present your product.”
We announced a kickstarter yesterday. As stated in our terms of service and our Paul’s CEO latest press release:
“Our community’s involvement has gone well beyond our expectations, with over one thousand pledgers joining our Community Forums to discuss the game and its development,” stated Shawn Jackson, COO of Precursor Games. “We are seeking to raise $1.35 million dollars on Kickstarter. By combining this goal with the tremendous contributions already on our own website, Precursor Games will be able to provide an opportunity for gamers to create games that they want to play.” “Some people may ask what happens to the pledges on our site if the Kickstarter does not move forward, and the answer is simple: We will issue refunds on our site if the project does not reach its goal on Kickstarter,” said Paul Caporicci. He also emphasized that both campaigns will run in parallel with the same reward tiers.”
I am sorry you did not like some of my past efforts. I always did try to do the best I could - many mistakes were made - I acknowledge that. I can assure that I have learned from my previous experiences. I know there is more to cover here and I will be addressing other issues in the future. I think it is important to get the facts straight on the crowdfunding campaign before moving on to the other issues.
Precursor Games has nothing to do with any of that past and was built from the ground up to interact with the community and digital distribution. We are looking toward to future and hope that others can see the potential of what we are doing.
I hope this helps. Denis Dyack

At least the guy isn't being jerk about it
Both crowdfunders will be shut down, temporarily, they say, the whole thing will apparently be relaunched in a few weeks time.
Well, this, apparently they are trying/were meant to try again today, actually. There was also a child porn scandal inbetween then and now, of all things.
As someone who watched a playthrough of Eternal Darkness several months ago, I wonder if the Eternals in the title are the same ones in Eternal Darkness.
In Eternal Darkness they were referred to as Ancients... and if I understand correctly the team developing doesn't have the rights to Eternal Darkness, hence the Spiritual Successor discussion. :P
The blinking ruins in the pitch trailer didn't really remind me of any of the Ancients, either, although I could see speculation of being connected to Chattur'gha or the mysterious Fifth... But they really reminded me of the Red Queen more than anything else.
o_O That's a bizarre setback.

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeablethey don't have the rights, but they will only release it on Wii U(besides PC,anyway)so I guess Nintendo will help on the production and allow Eternal Darkness elements to be incorporated if the game gets funded.
By the way, they have confirmed that David Hayter will voice the protagonist if the game gets funded and finished.
Yup, it's back on Kickstarter, with a bit more modest goal this time. No longer an episodic thing, apparently, and a PS4 version is listed as a stretch-goal.

Second Kickstarter failure imminent

Maybe they should hit up Sony. After Everybodys Gone To The Rapture, I think Sony would be their most likely way to get this funded.
This. They actually addressed this in their FAQ, as well as mentioning that they're in talks about it with Kickstarter. You can have a non-US, non-UK Kickstarter only if you do business at least in part from the US/UK, or have a US/UK partner AFAIK.
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.
