Developed by who?
A team made up mostly of previous devs. I don't think it's officially silicon knights though.
nyo ho hoDidn't Nintendo patent the Sanity Meter though? Either way, YES, MORE (almost) ETERNAL DARKNESS!
The New Age of Awesome is here! Not even the sky is the limit!^^Well, Silicon Knights has went down the toilet from what I've heard of what they do nowadays
Silicon Knights is just a skeleton company nowadays...only 5 employees and such...really though it's more surprising that the company's not DEAD dead yet...

Give me cute or give me...something?Holy shit, are we really getting a new Eternal Darkness?
Meh, they're begging for money like everybody nowadays.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Of course, otherwise getting new Eternal Darkness would be impossible :P
You say that like you're making a value judgement about begging. Like there's something wrong with the idea of being unable to support yourself.
Nah, actually, you're totally right. We need to support the self-publishing market, and not anything that has to outsource cash. Down with studio developers! Down with System Shock 2!
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.I've never played Eternal Darkness — I don't think that it was ever released on PC, which is my primary gaming platform — but from what I've gathered I'd very much like to try.
As a result, this looks very interesting, especially given that it is apparently targeting the PC; I very much hope that this turns out well!
Well, I'd like to change my opinion, but I don't have any money to do so. If the internet will give me $10,000, I will absolutely change my tune and think Kickstarter is the greatest thing ever.
"But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you." - O'Brien, 1984Start a Kickstarter to prove its self-evidence.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Besides, Kickstarter is harmless
@Rotpar: and what, you think the old publisher model is better?
Give me cute or give me...something?Here's the not-kickstarter, there's a fairly good-looking 9-minute gameplay-video there of what looks like a refurbished Eternal Darkness stage. Apparently it's being made with the CryEngine.
edit: Heh, OK, apparently Dyack's presence is a controversial one?

Yes, to say the least. People don't exactly have a good opinion of him after Too Human.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThat sort of rings a bell... what happened, exactly?
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryHere's Kotaku's article on the Silicon Knights-developed X Men Destiny. It was linked on a discussion on another board, and should give a pretty good idea of why a lot of people are leery of having Dyack involved.
Can I get a TL;DR? I don't have the patience to go through that article when I'm rather restless and don't particularly care for all the narrativizing that the article was trying to do.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryThe only reason Eternal Darkness was even remotely good was because of Miyamoto's involvement. Everything Silicon Knights has made after that has been absolute garbage, or mediocre at best. Dennis Dylack himself is an absolute hack who gained delusions of grandeur after ED was made.

Well, this thread's putting a bit of a damper on my joy at seeing this happen.
Do you guys still think this could be good? Anyone who can recognise my avatar can guess as to why I want so bad for this game to be awesome.
The Louisiana cult Shout-Out and Erzébet Bathory are just making me even more giddy.
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.If it even happens, that tally isn't going anywhere fast. Suppose the bad press is having an effect, their decision to not use kickstarter probably didn't help.
A friend of mine maintains that Silicon Knights' only good games were Legacy Of Kain Blood Omen and Eternal Darkness, and it took them like five tries to get Blood Omen to go anywhere. And it's just okay.
Not Three Laws compliant. It is not as if Nintendo gives Eternal Darkness any love. They borrowed a sound effect for Giga Bowser's eye flash in Melee and that's it. I am not even convinced that was not something from a general sound library and that two games that came out close together by the same company just so happened to both use it. It did not even get any representation in Brawl.
It is nice they patented the Sanity Meter I suppose but it would be nice to see them do something with it. Even now the spiritual successor is not going to be a Wii U exclusive, and we all know Wii-U needs all the help it can get.

Modified Ura-nage, Torture Rack
Actually, Precursor Games is based out of Canada. Kickstarter only works out of America, so it's not available for them.
Are the pigs flying yet?
Currently only announced for Wii U and PC, there will be a kickstarter come Monday asking for about 1.5 mill, it's an episodic title with 12 entries planned and the blurb goes like this:
Featuring an ensemble cast of heroes and villains, Shadow of the Eternals will span over 2500 years of history throughout Egypt, England, Hungary, and the United States. Players will question the perception of reality as they try to balance the mechanics of combat, magick, and sanity events to progress through the adventure.
Shadow of the Eternals will take players on a memorable journey throughout time; weaving historical fact with disturbing fiction to create an experience unlike any other.
