Same one with the n64/psx/dreamcast, imo. Namely because it had tons of original games that broke through the ceiling of 3D. Albeit, the results weren't always perfect, or near that, but still.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.16-bit or sixth generation. Can't really choose; both were very important times for my favourite genre, the JRPG, and they both had some of the best games ever.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!7th gen...though as PC gamer the console generation doesn't mean much to me...still, a few of my favourite games are from at least 2006...course, a lot of it are indies...make sense really since indie games are really blooming around 2008...bigger budget games is harder to pin on for me though...

Give me cute or give me...something?Seventh, since that's the generation most of my current favourites are from. I also like it for bringing about indie development (or at least making it easier) and popularizing a lot of elements I like- such as genre mixing and in-depth face customization.
Though I have to say, I do have extremely fond memories of the N64 and SNES gens, though I was a baby for the latter, it was still my first console.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Fourth, Fifth and Sixth. Since for me the games have a point of having more replayability in them for the fun in games like R Emake, Zelda:Both 64 games, GTA III, SSBM and Katamari Demacy.
A big problem with the Seventh Generation (home console only, portable has more games with replayability then home console like KH:BBS), is that they try to make make games less about the fun and more about the experience, in which they are like movies. In which you play it once and you wait for the next game: in other words, a big waste of money. But they are exceptions like MGR:R, TTT 2, A couple of Nintendo Games, MK 9 and LBP, where they concentrate more on the fun then the experience which will have players coming back for more.
I am not praising Platinum, there a company that are like any other company. Doing business.

PhewBAH! SOMEONE PRAISED PLATINUM GAMES! BOO!
Follow me on Twitter, I'm pretty awesome http://www.twitter.com/ZekeFreekThe thought of someone boo-ing Platinum games hurts me in the soul.
Couldn't think of anything. :/They are terrible.
Follow me on Twitter, I'm pretty awesome http://www.twitter.com/ZekeFreekCould you stop? Please?
Moving on, I do love a lot of this current generation too. Some really fun 3DS games. Paper Mario: Sticker Star was really sweet, with a lot of funny stuff.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.I liked the SNES a lot, moreso now that I can look back with a more critical eye, and appreciate just how well-made sprites could get.
I loved the Gamecube era, at which point 3D graphics had become good enough that they didn't look blocky and weird, and there was a nice healthy variety of games.
And I also love the current generation. The gap between portable and stationary consoles shrinking, and systems like Steam have made it ridiculously easy to find, purchase, and play an extreme variety of games with a good computer.
So... I guess all that amounts to "I can't decide".
I have a message from another time...What do mean by the gap between portable and home consoles? Isn't there still a gap between the quality and effort of both sides?
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. The 16-bit generation is probably my favorite, then the 6th (PS 2) generation. Props to Banjo Kazooie for single-handedly making its gen a contender, though.
The 6th is where most of my nostalgia lives - Jet Set Radio Future, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Super Smash Bros Melee come to mind. The 16-bit generation, on the other hand, was the RPG generation.

I thought the Fifth Generation was the RPG generation. As I noted on the 16-bit era page, I wrote that the RPG genre hit its stride, but its mainstream success came in the next generation.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Sixth Generation is my favorite. Its when I really got into gaming big time. Its also when my favorite series came out. Devil May Cry and Dot Hack.
PM box is Closed, Indefinitely Friend Code: 3368-4181-6850There are certainly a lot of Sixth Generation fans here.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Guys Platinum Games is not immune to scrutiny. Though more than just BOOOO THEY TERRIBLE is needed to be considered a valid criticism. Admittedly their story telling kind of sucks.
Stop being off topic.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Do you see "Om-Topic Conversations" at the top of this subfora? Because if it doesn't then people can derail all they want.
Fourth or fifth, here. Although the sixth had some good ones too, the seventh didn't do a whole lot for me.
Moon◊
Fifth and sixth. Too many classic games released in those generations to list.
But I am not at all impressed with the seventh as there are not enough classics to bother with.
