Seeing as there is nothing interesting poping up games-wise in May, at least what I can glance from a release date, I'll check this out later. First, let's see if there's good word-of-net around here!
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogThere are gameplay videos out there. It's basically Monster Hunter with spell-slinging instead of weapons. Figuring out the weaknesses of each enemy is still the main point but most of the fighting seems to be done at range with projectiles or summons.
One thing I thought was a step down from MH was that while each weapon in that game has a variety of different moves, the spells here are identical with every cast so battles seemed to consist of spamming one thing over and over again and finding the right time to replenish the character's limited stock. I think I recall movies of higher level gameplay that had a lot of stun locking and chain interrupts going on.
So the game just came out today. Anyone getting it? Also, reviews are in.
Eurogamer. 7/10. Seems to compare it to Monster Hunter a bit too much to judge the game in its own right, and doesn't really go into detail about the mechanics and the rest of the game other than his views on it.
The Vita Lounge. 9/10. Goes into detail about the mechanics and is a more positive look at the game on its own, without really comparing it to others.
General Metacritic score is 77.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Once again, I hate the monster hunting format. It's like taking to worst part of ARP Gs and basing the whole game around it.
Soul Sacrifice is starting to make up for that bullshittery with great presentation and fun combat.
Follow me on Twitter, I'm pretty awesome http://www.twitter.com/ZekeFreekSo who's been playing this over the last week? I haven't. Not yet, because I can't afford it at the moment.
Not me. I'll hold off until exams are over. Make it AND a new memory card my graduation gift to me.

Persona 3 Portable LiveblogGuys, I'm working on a Characters subpage for this game.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/SoulSacrifice
Can any of you help out, if you don't mind me asking?
Kinda limited onto what I can do.
And on the game itself...DAMN YOU CEREBUS!
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogWhat's causing you trouble against the Cerberus?
Eh, it's just so hard to defeat him. I'm pretty good at dodging but Magusar is bad at staying alive. I tend to ignore him and leave him dead for a bit and do my best dodging and throwing some of my projectile attacks in but then the Orc shows up and starts eating him and I'm like, NO PARTNER MUST STAY ALIVE and then Cerebus gets some hits in, Magusar is revived at low health and eventually death happens.
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogI got told that partners can't be eaten by orcs.
And so, I have beaten both Vanilla and Delta Soul Sacrifice. I am very fond of this game. I enjoyed the lore and managed to get invested in the story.
I must say, I wish this game would get a PS 4 release, just so more people can play it. Hell, I'd be down for a sequel.
Having no experience with other hunting games, I can't say how well it holds up to its competition.
I got sorta spoiled on some stuff in Delta, but not really. It was mostly vague stuff without context, meaning I'd build up what I think would happen only for something slightly different to play out.
Oh, and speaking of Delta? Get fucked, gods.
Did a search for this and since it didn't come up and I didn't want to bog down the Vita thread in case this gets popular, I made this thread. Lock if there is already a thread for this (I did search so if I missed it, well I'm blind).
Anyways, Soul Sacrifice could be called a Monster Hunter clone but it's a whole lot Darker. Demo is available now and you have till the 30th to try the multiplayer. I'm playing the demo myself and right now I just finished the rats. Still don't have an opinion on this yet and I'll back to you all when I do.
Edit:Embedding a trailer.
