''On a fledgling world where massive monsters roamed, a giant mass wiped them all out upon impact. Part of its body lingered in the atmosphere, reduced to dust. This slowly faded, merging with and adapting to the lifeforms of the planet. Those exposed to too much too quickly died, while others were mutated beyond recognition. In the end, the surviving lifeforms adapted to the mutative effects while the monsters eventually died or remain hidden to this day.

In the year 2007, a team of scientists were tasked by their government to create a super-soldier. Stationed in Nevada, the scientist Cyrus Nixon discovered a stationary organic mass. This material was soon used during the final phase of the project, producing the very real urban legend of the Midnight Stitcher. Each of the scientists were killed in succession, until only Cyrus remained. He was tortured, mutilated and maimed by his creation before being saved. Realizing the potential of the genetic material used to create Midnight Stitcher, a series of experiments soon began.

By 2013 medical science and overall biotechnology skyrocketed from the experiments. Artificial tissue was made of the entity, which quickly became America's most guarded secret. Though, the organization in charge of the entity, G.E.N.E (Genetically Engineering Non-Specific Entities) discovered the monster's genetic material would infect and eventually mutate organic tissue. Thus, they developed Cell Breaker technology as a precaution and focused on making the biotech safer. Eventually the Midnight Stitcher located the complex and entity, ultimately leading to the complex's destruction.

Soon afterwards, marked changes in lifeforms appeared. At first it was merely the development of odd instincts, heightened healing and inhuman powers. It quickly became apparent this was a curse, and the result of the entity's destruction. In the resulting chaos a world-wide organization, known as Divinity was formed to combat the plague and safeguard humanity's continued existence. Though infected by the plague were captured for experimentation, extinction, and enslavement by the enigmatic organization.

Now the year 2020, Divinity have become the rulers of mankind and while the plague has lessen it still persists. Most of humanity has taken home in Antarctica, and only the bravely stupid venture to Australia. Settlements, whether they be domed, underground or flying fortresses are home to humans outside of Antarctica. Australia is where criminals of the highest order and Fae/Lost too dangerous are sentenced to die, while the infected has claimed the unguarded world for their own. There is no permanent cure for the infected, and much of the former world is ruins in a battlefield without end.''

In short, Lost of Life is a post-outbreak world where organic life often develop (lovecraftian) superpowers if not outright becoming monsters. Much of human culture has been warped, and even within safe areas you'll often have to survive a number of events. Fae, those between humanity and Lost, are treated as inhuman and you'll be lucky to join a Divinity enprisonment/experimentation camp for Infected. With every post Fae/Lost progressively grow more infected and mutated, with few methods of preventing or reversing the progress. Any infected that survived since the start are known as Eldon (Eldritich Abomination) and treated as kill/avoid on sight targets.

Details:

Cell Breaker: Biotechnology derived from sequencing a substance the eldritich material reacts violently to, its effectively capable of destroying masses of the eldritich material and easily weakens Infected. Unfortunately, the smaller the mass the less effective it is. Still, it has been refined to make Fae/Lost capture and containment easier. One of the notable developments are wearable devices that pump small doses of Cell Breaker substance to keep a Fae/Lost at a set Infection level. The devices have a finite supply, so victims either wear a number of them or constantly brought in for refills. In addition, various other items have been developed to prevent normals from contacting the plague that are sadly finite in immunity and lasting.

Eldritich Biotechnology: Even now biotechnology derived from the eldritich creature is still used, though mostly as traps for curious Infected. All medical uses have been abandoned, though artificial replacements/weapons/armor/etc are coated in a tough substance infused with Cell Breaker technology on the surface. From research and study of Infected their abilities have been replicated, some better than others. Through mental links and programming people are thus able to wield the powers of the Infected without fear of becoming infected as well.

Faeling: This refers to two things, Lost who have reverted to Fae or Neld status and the children of Infected. Both types of Faeling suffer mental instability, warped mentality or corrupted morals. Either way they function differently from humans. Besides functionality, the first type redevelop physical mutation sooner than before and their powers grow back quicker in addition to retaining a more-rational being once/if returning to Lost-status. The second type are incapable of contacting the plague and always stays at a fixed level. Most born Faeling are inhuman in appearance if not in biology as well, though some have normal appearances but inhuman biology. There are the few Faelings with overall normal being, though tend to be the offproduct of lower stages of Infected. Regardless all Faelings develop inhuman abilities, and capable of pinpointing sources of the eldritich material thus making them valuable in hunting down Infected.

Infection: Its remarkably easy to become infected, as the airborne plague easily and quickly absorbs upon skin-contact. People can also be infected by being exposed unprotected to Infected blood. The infection has four notable stages: Neld, Fae, Lost and Eldon. Neld are those with the basic of the effects, with no real superhuman ability besides healing and life-span. Neld are still considered human, and receive regular treatments to reset their progress. Once a Neld develops their first power, they are Fae and depending on progress human opinion of them changes. Once a Fae begins physically mutating they're soon become Lost, and all new Lost have six abilities. If they haven't already lost their sanity and morality, by the time a Lost becomes an Eldon they're truly lost of life and only exist as raging monsters trying to destroy everything in their way.

Infection "Cures": Once infected, there will always be a small piece which survives. Non-lethal "cures" haven't been developed to suitable standards, though refined Cell Breaker technology has allowed victims to remain at fixed points. Infected can be drained of the mutative material by other Infected, though these are the only two safe methods. Every other attempt to truly cure an Infected either kills them, physically deform them, damages or fails to repair their mind, or leaves them in a coma which they're lucky to awaken from.

Infection Levels: Noted changes to Infected occur every 12-25 percent increase of the eldritich material in their body. Most of these changes simply enhances their basic abilities or the development of new often random superpowers. Infected with weaker powers and/or normal human appearance are still treated as humans to some degree while more powerful and/or inhuman Infected are treated as animals. Once someone becomes Lost nearly no one tries to save them, and Eldon no one at all tries to help them.

Infection Stagnation: Rare cases, Fae and Lost infection progress slows down if not stop outright. The reason for this is unknown, but these Infected are affected more severely than normal and never seen willingly absorbing the eldritich material. When they do absorb more eldritich material their bodies react violently and the state of infection ultimately remains the same. Furthermore, they often behave differently than normal Infected if not outright more dangerous.

Moderately incomplete, but here's the application format for now.

  • Name/Title: Fae/Lost/Eldon on record are referred by titles to further dehumanize them.
  • Base Race/Type: What race are they, and are they Uninfected/Neld/Fae/Lost/Eldon? Note, Eldon are NP Cs.
  • Powers: Non-human Infected naturally grow smarter over time, and depending on progress of Infection they'll have randomly decided powers most of the time. Any Infected are able to gain bits of others' powers if they absorb enough tissue from them to progress a new rank, and Fae/Lost (Eldon just kill and absorb) have partial control over what powers their victims develop if they infected them.
  • Equipment: Anything the character would logically have or found, though ignore Equipment depending on the state a Lost's physical appearance is and Eldon outright ignore these. Equipment can meld into and be corrupted as one's Infection continues.
  • Bio: List at least appearance/age here and short details about their past. More information is better, though not required.

It would be Human Fae, and The Horror isn't a very unique title. Though given his single ability he must of been recently infected, and he couldn't of gained a title yet. Crusher Tentacle sounds like it could work, and can you include his age and why a Lost decided to infect him instead of murder as well? Plus, more detail on the group. Its not like they're very friendly towards each other by default.

Updated the Details section, and he's mostly fine. The Race/Type is backwards, and why was he in New York specifically? Had he remained there since the outbreak, or was he sent there/went on his own to help control things?
