If this is true, I'm hoping we see the full episodes on the DVD release.

What would be the best equivalent of GALAX in our own world?

[up] There have been things like that (i.e. with the mini-avatars and such), but I don't think any ever caught on.

It would be like Twitter and Facebook combined with intent to achieve something and a good deal of game theory.

I mainly mean the aspect of informing people about some problems, and others responding with a way to solve it. And I mean problems that require immediate attention.

[up]There are alot of privacy issues, so nothing really makes use of location information to that extent yet. At least not on a social network level. There would also be some unfortunate odd legal issues from doing it involving liability of the responders, but it's an interesting idea.

[up]It is, it is. The tvseries reminded me of an interesting presentation on TED from about a year ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4EhJ898r-k

It's about how apps can be used for society to solve different small problems. In my country not many people have iphones altogether so, it's a long way till we develop our own "app culture" ;). But I was wondering if people here from the states, western europe or east asia here can somehow relate to what is shown in the series. Doesn't have to be necessarily on such a scale, or with such dramatic issues like accidents and so on, but I suppose such apps could be used for solving smaller problems to.

[up] I've heard of apps that do things like find restaurant etc reviews from local people. There is also geo caching which has some similar concepts(although it's offline). I know the military has worked on various versions similar concepts(via integration with the sensor network stuff, don't think it went all that far however. )

There are car sharing cycles in Germany that use apps to efficently share cars in big citys.

I’ve finally watched the whole series, and in my opinion it was great! I love how the heroes use non-violent ways to solve problems, an idea that I hold very dear and the show presented this both through the character of Hajime Ichinose, who tries to communicating instead of fighting with MESS and Katze, and also through the whole idea behind Crowds and Galax. Generally I’ve always been interested in how social media could be applied to solve practical problems, and it was cool to see an anime basically based on this concept. Concerning Hajime herself I liked the idea of character that’s positive and full of emotions that at first glance seems to fit the stereotypical tropes involved with such hero, as in being irrational and generally silly, but actually turns out to be the most clear-thinking and rational of the cast. This makes her quite distinct in my opinion and puts her on my “favorite characters in anime list” ;).

The ending satisfied me quite a bit, with its presentation of what people can do when they are free to cooperate with each other and choose how to help others based on their skills. It was really quite satisfying to see Katze being proven wrong while people ignore him, and we see the Crowds being used to bring order to Tachikawa and fighting the neo-hundred. One thing I thought was lacking was some kind of closure to the main cast’s stories. We don’t really know anything about what happened to anyone except for OD and Hajime.

In general I ended the last episode with a huge smile on my face and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I want an extra episode explaining that last scene more than a second season, to be honest.

[up][up] Same here. Honestly, I'm not sure how you would DO a second season. You kind of did the point already, so I'm not sure where you go next.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

It can definitely do a second season. It's a superhero show. There can be a new villain.

Although it will be strange, to say the least, with Hajime having evil talking breasts and everyone having the power of Crowds.

I really hope OD survived.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Ah, it also seems to be confirmed that the BD/DVD will have more footage. Not said what exactly, put it's probably the missing content from the ending.

[up][up]That's kinda the problem though. Crowds isn't the usual super hero show, it's a social commentary of sorts. The series has already said everything it wanted to say, so even if they introduce a new villain it's just going to be bland and feel stretched out.

Unless its a new cast of characters and stuff, and dealing with new ideals.

It reached a conclusion.

Well okay, 'all it wanted to say' was probably bad wording on my part, but really, a new season continuing off the same thing wouldn't really work. From a purely plot-relevant point of view, there's lots of potential, with Katze in Hajime's hajimes, everyone having CROWDS, and such, but from an ideological perspective it's already finished.

I hope there'll be a few new addition to the cast but please, please don't let them get rid of Hajime. One thing I do hope will happend will be a little explenation to what in the seven realms of hell did Katze ended up in Hajime's breasts? Those who wanted some explanation of the last episode will be glad to know that the BD box will come with the "full ending." Basically they're going to put back the footage that was removed from the broadcast.
