It does remind me of the Q-Rex. Although has it been confirmed it's sent from Time Force for the dub?

That said, Vekar is definitely pulling his weight when it comes to making this entertaining. My favorite line today so far has been "And who said you can be taller than me?!"

[up][up] Coz it is? In Gokaiger, it's pretty much what its supposed to be, mixing the three dead Six rangers Zords - Timefire's dinosaur, the Drill (And drill tail) from Dragon caesar, and a robot mode with removable, upgradable arms like Abarekiller's.

[up] Well episode confirms it's a Q-Rex, and we see it come from Timeforce's future. But of course this being Super Megaforce they found a way to make that suck. We get no explanation of what the Q-Rex is, or where it's from. Gosei just announces "You've unlocked the Q-rex" and that's it. Like all his previous "You've unlocked X" announcements, we get no context of why they unlocked it, how, etc...

I think it's almost become tradition now for the anniversary seasons to be awful, at least in the general fan bases opinion.

Wild Force, Operation Overdrive and Megaforce were not well received at all.

Although contrary to fan's opinions I actually rather liked Wild Force.

Super Megaforce specifically counts for the anniversary. tongue

That said, yeah, they were somewhat low points. Only Turbo among the earlier PR stuff came out low as well.

I've seen them all, enjoying them to various degrees. I liked the idea of multiple villain teams in OO, though. Didn't feel like the acting itself was that great. Wild Force's two main problems were the severe narm(mostly agreed upon by many), and personally, the lack of Theme Music Power-Up during most of the season. The zord summoning theme was kind of mediocre, imo. Turbo didn't have that problem at least. OO was just as bad, if not worse. They only had TMPU during one episode, the crossover one. The acting was kind of ehhhhhhh. I found Megaforce/Super Megaforce to be easily more enjoyable, although I still agree its got its problems. Now to watch the latest episode. Also, yeah, Gosei sucks at explaining things. XD

I was interested by the last episode, and wow, it disappointed.

Where to begin?

Okay, so Orion took out a space ship with a slingshot. A Slingshot he barely put any tension in. Good to know the Armada ships are made of paper. Geez.

Orion's backstory was alright. Helps that his actor looks like a multiple time academy award winner compared to everyone else in the cast.

I wonder if we'll get much of an explanation on the origin of the Silver Ranger morpher and why it was buried in rock. Going by the show's so far stellar storytelling I will guess "No".

The Q-Rex reveal was definitely a disappointment. I hate to keep harping on this, coz I'm not usually the type to go "look at the sentai" but Gokaiger's six ranger at least had the whole "ghost of the fallen Sixth rangers giving him his power ups" thing going. And Gai was the most boring of the rangers on the cast! I am really hating how the powers just go unexplained this season, like the aforementioned "You just unlocked (insert power here) because the script says you do!"

I was originally going to say something about the Revenge Before Reason point, as in Silver Lining Part 1 I felt somewhat sorry for the Monster of the Week being betrayed, and they didn't bother even trying to talk to him first. I get why Orion is like that, but it bothers me a bit.

Thankfully Silver Lining Part 2 acknowledges this a bit when Troy directly mentions it. I just hope Character Development sets in and he starts to lose that trait. Not to say I expect them to not destroy the MOTW, but I would love to see one turn good like in previous seasons(Time Force is a notable one).

Brand new movie in the works.

http://www.powerrangers.com/featurefilmannouncement.pdf

The new film franchise will re-envision the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.

I also made a topic in the movie board.

MMPR done with modern special effects could be awesome.

Given how well the current incarnation Power Rangers handle, I rather they not touch it right now.

I honestly wonder if they're remaking the original or going for a different storyline. The first movie was freakin' awesome and I have no doubt they'll do great on here, especially special effect-wise. The real question is what actor choices they're using. Obviously Season 2 or 3 since Thuy Trang passed away. RIP.

You do realize it's going to be an all new cast right?

The original Rangers are old now. We might get a JDF cameo (I hope not...) but it's going to be an all new cast of teenagers*

  • Actors more likely to be over 20.

We don't know enough to even say that. For all we know, it'll be set years well after they would normally get their Zeo powers. Zero information is given other than it's MMPR-related and who the producing companies are(Saban and Lionsgate). That's... it.

All of the Season 2 actors could be re-used if they wanted to. It ultimately depends what the story is more than anything. The only one I think they'll have a lot of trouble getting is Billy's actor back at best. Of the possible choices, anyway, if they go with any of the original actors besides Jason David Frank and Adam's Actor, both easy choices.

Reinvisioning is the term used. I'm not sure that's really equivalent to a reboot(since it could be the same story, just told a bit differently or have better effects, for instance). Honestly, with the Disney reinvisioning of the MMPR that came out, I could see it being similar in a sense. Not to the point of having no new scenes overall, mind you, but I still think it's not going to be severely different as people make it out to be.

We still know zero details beyond it possibly have a different story.

Let's just wait for a bit more information. Some of the same actors may come back, or maybe not at all. It's really impossible to tell at this point and time. We don't know even know what season it's based upon. That's how little information is given.

"Reinvisioning" more or less means the same thing as "reboot" or "remake". MMPR was the most popular and iconic entry in the series so I imagine it's going to be the same basic plot (evil villain threatens the earth, Zordon assembles five teenagers and gives them superpowers and dinosaur robots) but set in a modern setting and with different actors.

They'll probably even use the same names, but I think it's not likely that they're bringing back anyone from the original cast outside of cameos.

Possible Super Megaforce final spoilers (spoiled by JDF... thanks a lot asshole).

The Rangers defeat Emperor Mavro, demorph from exhaustion, a bunch of X-Borgs show up, then the past Rangers show up.

Well that's a fucking waste. They just show up to pick off the stragglers.

i know people will hate me for this....but i like the pizza monster of turbo....

Yes really,i least for what i remenber i was really powerfull and also he manage to control the two cars, that is something impresive and in the infamous pizza moment i was actually asking how the ranger will be save

and for turbo, ninja and overdrive i think they sufer for one reason: sillyness, power ranger relly a lot of narm charm and like some troper say they put they heart on it, while sentai are more parody or a least they are not trying so hard, so a least for me, ninja storm was lighter and sofier was a step back from the awsome ending of wild force, while time force was really dark a times and i have some sad moments(frax come to mind, is the only chararter who have a sad ending)

Man, I had no idea this thread is here, I love Power Rangers. They were my childhood and teenyood and a shining beacon of hope when I travelled. I had basically left the United States before Lost Galaxy started and after that I had only seen bits and pieces of Wild Force, a single episode of Lightspeed Rescue, and then when had returned I was having my mind blown by the glorious Dinothunder and subsequent SPD. But for some reason by Mystic Force and the rest I stopped paying attention until RPM, which was brilliant.

I watched Samurai, it felt cheesy and off but eh, I've grown and they were clearly making it for a ginger audience. I have yet to see Megaforce and it's sequel and in my current situation I won't be able to for some time.

What are they like?

And while I'm on it, a few weeks ago I had gone home to Northern Virginia just in time to attend Awesome Con on Saturday and I got to meet and actually talk to WALTER JONES AND DAVID YOST! You know , ZACK AND BILLY FROM THE ORIGINAL MIGHTY MORPHIN!

Needless to say I was falling all over myself because I had the opportunity to meet my two favourite rangers from Mighty Morphin.

[up] Megaforce is about... nothing. It's a season of nothing.

At first, it seemed like an homage/rehash of MMPR since the first episode was an exact copy of "Day of the Dumpster", but after that they just directly adapted Goseiger episodes without giving it a theme. I can understand not doing a direct adaptation of Goseiger, it's a season about angels, but outside of that it's a really generic season. You could have done anything with it (the most popular being trapped in a video game), but they did nothing.

As for the characters, Yellow Ranger Gia, Blue Ranger Noah, and Black Ranger Jake are decent actors saddled with horrid material, while Pink Ranger Emma and ESPECIALLY Red Ranger Troy are dreadful. Fans are constantly joking that Troy is more robotic than the actual robots (including Sixth Ranger Robo Knight). Speaking of, Robo Knight is the only one that gets any development, the others are just blank slates made to say lines. The mentor Gosei is a complete fucking joke. He tells the Rangers nothing, and rewards them with new powers for no reason. It's like Saban wanted to do Zordon again, but completely failed at it.

Villain wise, the only decent one is Vrak, and that's because he's around most of the time. The "big bad" Malkor does nothing until Episode 18 (near the end), and he's not even defeated by the Rangers best Megazord (this is because the Sentai footage was being used out of order as his counterpart was defeated fairly early on... it's a long story).

Overall, Megaforce just feels like a 20 episode prologue to Super Megaforce, which Saban wanted to do in the first place but Bandai & Toei said "No, you need to adapt Goseiger, it's in the contract" (though with Go-Busters getting skipped, this contract has come into question).

Of course, Super Megaforce really isn't much better. A lot of fans were annoyed that the suits from Gokaiger have been reduced to a power-up. The gimmick of this season is that they have access to the powers of all the past Power Rangers, so you'd think this would open up all kinds of possibilities for original footage right? You underestimate the laziness and cheapness of Neo-Saban.

The most offensive of the past morphs involves morphing into unadapted Sentai, notably Dairanger, Maskman, and Flashman. No explanation was given for the last two, and the most we got for the first was "new powers never before seen on this planet". Lazy lazy lazy. They don't even name them.

Of course, the acting isn't much better, Troy still has next-to-no personality. Jake has become a lot goofier in order to match his new Sentai counterpart (this is why you don't adapt two different seasons into one). Noah is suddenly a master swordsman despite spending Megaforce as a sniper. The only good new character is the new Sixth Ranger, Orion, who actually has a backstory and character motivation.

Well, okay, there is actually another good new character, the main villain Prince Vekar, who spends his time snarking everyone and everything. It's almost like he's aware of how bad the writing is. And speaking of the writing, I cringe everytime they say "Super Mega", and that is A LOT.

Who knows, the season isn't done yet so it might improv- pahahahahahahahaha. Oh man, couldn't finish that with a straight face. ... I think I wrote too much.
