I'm somewhat intrigued by these kind of stuff. Do you remember any cases were some usually sort or special features of a series outside the canonical scope of seasons and in-between specials, can still stand as "special" episodes on their own? Basically anything off-season that may be worth to be added to a Recap section. I don't know if there are some trope for that.

Examples I remember:

Space Ghost Coastto Coast: "The Mask". Given its format, the show has actually a lot of special appereances in promos an one-shot events that could be considered episode material, yet I believe this is the one of the few that keeps the episode format AND there's still info available. It was a 5 minute episode made just as a feature for the VHS release of the 1994 film "The Mask", with Jim Carrey and Charles Russell as guest. It has never been reissued, but "survives" as part of the season 2 crummy Clip Show "Le Livre D'Histoire". I'm aware of more Adult Swim stuff and some CN Latin America and Spain stuff, but I don't have much detail right now.

Space Ghost Coastto Coast: "A Space Ghost Christmas". A Christmas Episode that actually is made to be a Clip Show to feature three other random episodes of the series in full, with its new footage being the characters singing Christmas Carols in the (otherwise unrelated) wraparounds. Only a couple of segments made into DVD.

Teen Titans: "The Lost Episode". An 11 minutes episode made originally featured at postopia.com as part of some promo (or so i think). It centered around the villain Punk Rocket. I believe it has never been shown on TV. It's avaliable at the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD.

Various "Cartoon Cartoon" / "Nicktoon" pilots. Most of the time, pilots for shows aren't shown to the public, and when they are, are reworked for the series. Many CN and Nickelodeon shows are exceptions as many pilots were usually shown as part of their shows for shorts. In the case of Nickelodeon, I believe some also premiered in theaters. The Johnny Bravo, Dexters Laboratory, Billy & Mandy/Evil Con Carne, Robot Jones, Codename Kids Next Door, Chalk Zone and My Life Asa Teenage Robot were bundled or remade into the series, while The Powerpuff Girls, Cowand Chicken, Couragethe Cowardly Dog, Mike Lu And Og, The Fairly Oddparents and Adventure Time ones were not. The Courage one is an odd case, since is still referenced in the show itself by a couple of "sequel" episodes, despite never forming part of the series. The Sheep In The Big City pilot could count as the first episode of the series on its own, yet it wasn't included the short time the first season was available at iTunes (I believe it is still bundled on a DVD of another CN show).

Total Drama Island: "TDI Rundown": A clip show special made as a recap before the last episode of the series, with different versions for Teletoon (original channel) and CN. Although neither version is part of syndication, the CN one is avaliable on DVD and iTunes.

The Simpsons: "Springfield Most Wanted". A live-action / clip show special that was shown after a rerun of the last episode of Season 6 "Who Shots Mr. Burns part. 1" and the premiere of the first episode of Season 7 "Who Shorts Mr. Burns part. 2". It was only shown once, yet is avaliable on the Season 6 DVD. I haven't seen it, yet despite some fan-guides mentioning it, it feels that is pretty different from an actual episode, so it may not count.

The Simpsons: "Do the Bartman" and "Deep, Deep Trouble". Two music videos featuring original songs that premiered around the early seasons. Unlike the former episode mentioned, these are the only non-episode material, (besides the "Tracey Ullman" shorts) mentioned with dedicated chapters in the official books of Simpsons episode guides. Avaliable on DVD.

Mr Bean: It has two stand-alone skits released to video and about four full skits made for the Comic Relief telethon.
