- Coulson: "Good news everyone! The Russian government has officially given up the chase for Hunter and Bobbi."
- Fitz: "Really? That's fantastic but, how? They were disowned, we couldn't even say goodbye to them in person!"
- Coulson: "Well it turned out that those three officers they thought were murdered were actually incredibly realistic Life Model Decoys, made to look and act like the real thing. -smirk- Turns out death really is cheap."
- Fitz: "Wow... I... I didn't know government manhunts worked that way. I mean they were on foreign soil, fled captivity and everything."

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Adrienne Palicki has a new show on Fox, which may be why she wasn't listed as coming back this season.

We don't have a name yet, but it looks like they are going with the "character new to the MCU" option rather than Hill, May, or Talbot. The only hint they gave is that the character in question has been around since the 1940's in the comics.
Watch it be a Life Model Decoy of Dum-Dum Dugan.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? This show never fails to surprise.
Mr. Boring Tom Cruise Jason Bourne Stereotype? He's a double agent.
Girl With The Thor Tattoo? She's actually Quake.
Coulson's alive? How? Because of a program he himself directed.
Jiaying seems like a reasonable authority figure. And finally, Captain Adama's being a reasonable authority figure. We might finally have some pe... OH SHIT SHE JUST BROKE A DIVINER.
Oh goodie, Ward's dead at last, we never have to see him again! Enter Squidward.
Oh the Director of SHIELD position's open. Let's see er, Maria Hill, nope, May, nope... Nick Fury? Nope. Now for someone completely different!
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Oh shit, that would be even better.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Holy shit, why didn't I ever think of that.
We've been calling him Squid-Ward for a while now.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I must've missed that. As a purveyor of puns, I congratulate you.
So...what version did you like the best? Bland Agent Ward, Devoted Follower Ward, Crazy Obsessive Ward, Wannabe Leader Ward or Squidward?
I think Crazy Obsessive Ward was the most fascinating variant.....
I'd agree that was the best performance, although he was at his most interesting as part of the resurgent Hydra. They were defeated too soon. And then just as Ward was getting interesting again as Hydra's new leader, they went and made him a cultist. Kind of a waste.
Squidward is a great name for Hive. That should have been on the show. It's such a Buffyesque joke to make, and that whole storyline could've really pushed itself a lot harder that way— be dark, be funny. Bust all the genres.
They didn't really have the opportunity to do so considering that his true face wasn't really revealed until the very end.

I'm actually caught between Crazy Obsessive and Devoted Follower Ward.
The former was a bag of dicks, the latter gave the show its most significant twist. Gang Leader Ward could've been good if he weren't reviving a sect SHIELD and The Avengers hadn't already beaten into the ground twice.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Personally I liked Squidward^^
The synopsis for Season 4.
In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.
Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) will roar into the lives of Agent Coulson and the team as a junkyard mechanic who can turn on a dime into the terrifying Ghost Rider. Will Robbie be a friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. – as well as the world, itself? Meanwhile, Fitz discovers that socially awkward genius and friend Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) has started putting the finishing touches on a new, secret invention.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Batman is the new director?
I'm glad that SHIELD has become a legitimate organization again. Now the only issue that may arise from this is the old "Why aren't the movies acknowledging what's going on in the show?" But the synopsis looks interesting. I just wish it was Maria Hill that was going to be the director, but maybe in the second half of the season. We shall see.
Tis the great art of life to manage well The restless mindMaybe the reason they bring Shield back to light again IS because it is supposed to play a role in Infinity War (not necessarily our team, but Fury and Co).
Noticed no mention of the Secret Warriors. I wonder if they've been put on a bus.
Most likely. Quake's on the run, Lincoln's dead, and the show turning the Accords into a Superhuman Registration Act means the remaining 2 are either in hiding or officially members no longer in the shadows.

Not necessarily. It was stated that May is training strike teams for the new SHIELD, which means that perhaps we'll get the official Caterpillar teams. And the showrunners have said that they still plan on including Inhumans in the show.
Plus, it would suck if we couldn't get more Yo-Yo. I want her to become a regular.
The pilot wasn't picked up, so I guess we have to wait and see what will happen.
