So I got thinking. Imagine you are one of the Inhumans who were in Afterlife. Jiaying goes to meet with a SHIELD negotiator. The negotiator tries to kill her then SHIELD attack Afterlife directly, aiming for the building Jiaying had been in. They don't get her and Gordon evacuates you to safety.

Next thing you hear, if you hear anything, is that Jiaying and Gordan have both been killed by SHIELD and Jiaying's daughter, who was a SHIELD agent, is putting together a black-ops squad of Inhumans under the direct control of SHIELD, any Inhuman they find is going on the Index and they're saying the whole thing was Jiaying's fault.

SHIELD got everything they wanted and the Inhumans are scattered or under SHIELD's control.

I suspect they will do nothing with that but you could have some really anti-SHIELD Inhumans out there.

That is a great point on how it looks from the other side.

I have a feeling that Lincoln will try and explain what actually happened to everyone, if he can find them (also Gordon said he teleported everyone else away from Afterlife).

In a situation like that, it's easy for someone to assume that the person backing up SHIELD's story is also a traitor/liar.

[up] I think that will be the case with some people, but Lincoln's word will probably carry more weight then Skye's word for anyone closer to the fence as he has much less reason to favor SHIELD.

But I do think we are going to have a hostile faction of Inhumans at least as secondary antagonists.

It would be naïve to think that everything between the agency and the Inhumans are okay now. Not just because Inhumans might still believe in the lies, but what about the perspective of SHIELD? Whatever Coulson wants, there will be a lot of Agents which feel that the attack shows that you can't trust Inhumans.

Don't forget Raina's dead too, with the only people who know the truth of what happened to her being Skye, Jiaying, and Gordon; two corpses and a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent. Add in Gordon, and the Afterlife denizens lost their prophet, their transporter, and their leader in rapid succession. There's going to be a lot of panic and a lot of anger.

Gordon wasn't the one that knocked Skye out after she saw Raina die, and there were more Inhumans that were in on the plan besides just Gordon.

Hmm.

Would they admit their crimes though?

And even if they did, would others accept it, or just assume Shield tortured them into admitting the truth?

I'm sure this has been brought up (I missed several threads on a count of not being able to read them due to computer problems), but, I think come Season 3, we'll see a role reversal between Fitz and Simmons.

Season 2 had Fitz recovering from something in the previous season, and Simmons not being able to deal with it, and leaving.

Season 3, will have Simmons affected in some way by that.... rock.... slime stuff whatever, and Fitz either trying to help her.... or being driven away from her.

I think the guy who knocked out Skye was on the Quinjet when Skye dumped it into the ocean. He was one of Jiaying's two nameless henchmen in the last few episodes.

I hope whatever dynamic Fitz and Simmons have in season 3, it won't be as simple as a role-reversal of season 2. Season 3 will feel samey as it is with Ward taking over HYDRA to antagonize New S.H.I.E.L.D.

...I don't think that's samey.

There's no way he even has enough manpower to legitimately antagonize SHIELD come to think of it. He's working with a bunch of burly, biker-looking thugs who claim to be HYDRA. He's working with remnants of remnants, after Coulson's team and the Avengers smashed the last two "big" HYDRA bases. For the sake of the conflict, he has to, but come on.

Anyway, last time, he was all about "closure" and being as much of a dick as possible.

[up] I think the generic HYDRA thugs are just a starting point. Ward is probably going to be putting a lot of effort into recruiting beyond what's left of HYDRA for the first half of Season 2. And with most of the Afterlife Inhumans unaccounted for and the potential now for Inhumans to pop up anywhere, Ward will probably be trying to get as many powered people on his side as possible.

Given SHIELD streamrolls over HYDRA every time they fight, in order to make HYDRA a threat, I hope they change how they operate. Ward's strength was in covert ops. Stop giving HYDRA a big base with their logo on everything and let them strike and vanish.

They'll never have the power to tangle with SHIELD directly so don't have them do that.

[up] I agree with that.

Since being publicly outed, they've been really bad at being a secret organization. What made Hydra threatening in Winter Soldier was the Paranoia Fuel. Without that, they're just the same assholes who got curbstomped into nonexistence 70 years ago.

I think AoS kinda wasted HYDRA. After Winter Soldier, they had real cred as a serious danger that would be an ideal continuous challenge for Coulson's SHIELD but they've been pretty ineffective as anything. It's really been that the only tjing they had was the element of surprise.

If they'd kept to the whole "infiltrated stuff" angle and just had Hydra guys in Talbot's crew, Hydra guys in Senator Ward's office, etc. they could have been a serious menace. The Project Mayhem angle would have been perfect for them.

But instead, Hydra began openly plastering its iconography everywhere and trying to be First World Al Qaida, and that ended pretty much exactly how that was inevitably going to end.

Luke Mitchell (Lincoln) promoted to series regular for season 3

Can't say I'm all that shocked by this of course (I swear that pun was not intended when I first typed that). The list of people who are almost certainly going to be on Skye's team pretty much began and ended with Lincoln.

Will be interesting to see where his character goes in Season 3. My favorite theory is that he's actually Ward's youngest brother.

I really want Mike Peterson to be a regular in Season 3 as well. I know he's kind of a Story Breaker with all of his powers, but I like him and his interaction with the crew. Plus, his new outfit just looks cool.

I view Mike as a tank: Powerful and useful, but when push comes to shove, there are plenty of countermeasures, or simply situations where he won't be useful in the first place. With Ward as the new Big Bad (not sure if that's still a spoiler), the countermeasures will crop up often since he's worked with him in the past, and if they're switching back to a Spy Versus Spy fight, he won't be useful.

[up][up]I do too. Although I'll be happy even if he just pops in for a few episodes a season.

I think at this point it mostly depends on whether the actor wants to become a series regular. I'm not sure what other projects he's working on, but it's possible he doesn't want to have his schedule locked down by being a series regular.

I believe the actor,August Richards, signed on to do another show, that's why we didn't get to see Deathlock until the latter half of Season 2.Im sure he'll definitely be popping in every now and then, but not as a continuous series regular.

I have the feeling that it would be to expensive and time consuming to have Deathlock in the show all the time. The make-up and hardware on him must be a lot of work to put on. But I would love having him around.
