Killer Instinct

Microsoft has a clear path after reaching an agreement with Fox.

It's far too soon to celebrate: most of the original Rare team have left and with the games Modern!Rare have been putting out, I don't know how Killer Instinct 3 would turn out.

But I will admit to one thing. I WANT ANOTHER KILLER INSTINCT, I WANT IT INSIDE ME LIKE A BABY.

This will probably just be "Killer Instinct HD".

Even then, that'd be fine with me. Regardless of what version is remade. Or it could have every currently playable character in it.

Also, we lack a general KI thread, so this could double as that one too.

I think my favorite fighter will always be Fullgore. I like his design.

Though Saberwulf wins just by being a werewolf by default.

Did David Wise or someone else do the soundtrack?

I love Cinder; he has this flame move you can spam for massive damage.

You gotta hit the green button (That's the leftmost for you americanos) and mash the d-pad in the direction of the opponent. If you mash both of the buttons at the same time, you begin his flame combo (he turns into a fireball, punch+kicks you, fireballs again, punch+kicks and uppercuts into the air) and just keep going with that initial fireball.

So it ends up being fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball etc. until it inevitably corrects itself and sends the other fighter flying anyway. It's great for landing off-the-side finishers.

I never could make head to toe of the combo system in that game. I should probably give it another try.

I did play an arcade cabinet of the first game back when my local arcade had it.

My dad scored a SNES copy when I was a kid, from a friend of his who was upgrading to a PS 1. From time to time the friend would drop in and play it, and even with my tricks he'd school me with my own Cinder.

Man, this game is just begging for Netherealm to pick up and make a reboot. Or a crossover, for that matter. If they could basically take the Injustice engine and go from there, it'd be just about perfect.

Also, they have to bring back Riptor. Kim Wu and Maya can go die.

Cool! Now hopefully they can get Rare to put DKC back on the Virtual Console due to this business.

I remember the GB port being pretty solid, too. Though theres only so much you could do with 2 buttons.

So that's that then. MS will never let Rare make non-kinect games anymore huh? I guess after more than a decade of just shit I now no longer feel anything from seeing the rotting carcass of my once favorite dev be strung up and forced to dance by MS. I guess this is for the best. It no longer hurts.

Oh, it's no doubt that KI 3 is going to be fucking terrible. In a series defined by being a tech demo, as well as lacking any experience in making fighting game but doing so anyway because the 90s, it's a given.

The real question is will KI 3 be fun enough for people not to care how bad the game is at it's core?

I doubt it will actually be good but maybe Double Helix are secretly amazingly good at making Fighting Games. Somehow.

Killer Instinct, amongst others, are free-to-play.

For those who can't read it, for Killer Instinct itself, only Jago is playable right away.

Sabrewulf and Glacius are also confirmed, but prices have not been determined.

This includes the final price of everything. Nothing is announced, besides those 3 characters.

So it should go without saying to not assume anything. It could be overpriced, we could have characters packs, and so on. Also, according to the article, it talks about competitive play. It most likely probably means online play. Because with online play, nobody has to download a character to fight them. This means that nobody is forced to download a character they don't want at all.

Why are they doing this now? First that new Tekken and now KI? I hate this whole, free2Play but hur durr only 1-4 characters from start, buy the rest crap they're pulling. Stop giving us half a game already.

Its F 2 P...you usually don't get a complete game. For a fighting game , most Lo L models and such don't really work and having one character is stupid.

Tekken has 8 characters in its game. idk about DOA though.

A fighting game with only one fighter unlocked at the start? Fucking hell. They couldn't even be assed to throw in Fulgore with Jago?

People have been waiting for KI 3 for seventeen years, and Microsoft and Double Helix just blew it, hard.
