Chat down still. Again. lol It actually just went back immediately before the new Nightmare Alert. Then it disappeared after Void Trader left.

I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.

I have no idea what's wrong with it. It's Shik Tal's "boooring", BTW.

The alert was pretty underwhelming, I had expected more than that, it's just unarmed assassination.

I guess the Jack'ernaut is kinda hard in its own special way.

Hey, guys, did Psychic Bolts get buffed at some point? I remember it being complete garbage, and yet my clan leader says he's killing the crap out of people with it.

Before you ask, no, he does not have the augment.

but HOW?

It got pretty high radiation proc just recently. Since Nyx already has map locking not shoot at me skill and "kill the crap out of people" is not even milestone in this game, I'd say Psychic Bolts still ain't worth shit.

didn't it used to go where the cursor was aimed? It seems to simply seek nearby enemies now. I don't know that it's worth anything even with that, but it's definitely a step up if so.

It works like a shotgun. So while the cursor helps in aiming, the bolts spread.

Psychic Bolts have target seeking and punch-through properties. It lacked punch-through a while ago, getting blocked by any obstacle and not being smart enough to go around, so Bolts was strong contender for worst ability in the game.

Anyhow, RNG has been very kind to me last few days. Finally got pherliac pod blueprint and started my work on Jordas's quest. Counting all parts, concluded I needed 13 Juggy kills to get blueprint. After all horror stories I heard about its drop chance, I'd say I got really lucky. Quest itself is total garbage in both story (it's just halp plz - we halp - get pods - make pods - test pods - make pods - boss fight) and mission design (copy-paste from previous parentheses), but J3 is pretty cool boss fight. I definitely dig it even thou it's raid version's circumcised brother. Aaaaaaaaand I got all Atlas parts in three runs. To top it of, farmed up till now elusive Wyrm Prime parts in blink of an eye.

While we're on subject of Juggernout, I was wondering, how faces of animation team looked when art team presented them with... that. I mean, Juggernout is mini-boss with plenty attacks and pretty significant attacks like one-shot needle spray, charge with knockdown and room covering slow goop with mook spawning for good measure. And it's game design 101 that enemies telegraph their attacks, especially when those attacks are significant (like everything in Juggy's repertoire). So why in the bloody hell art team made a bolder with stubby legs? "How am I supposed to animate this?" asked animators, but artists made long faces with sad eyes and animators caved in "Ugh, fine! I'll figure something out." All of Juggy's attacks are either too unnoticeable for what it does, or look like some other it's animations and charge doesn't have animation at all.

Not to mention its coloring: white with pale pink. Textures look pretty decent in codex, but beyond armpit sniffing distance Juggy looks like a smear. Combined it causes some problems with weak spot visibility. Kind of a problem, since opening weak spot doubles as one shot attack. I mean, what were they thinking?

While I'm sure your ability to deal with Juggernout far exceeds merit of that joke, it's not relevant to point I made: Juggy is poorly designed not hard.

yeah, I agree. I didn't even know it HAD a weak point because it's so... uniform. very lacking in color to break up body segments, and overall really annoying.

admittedly I didn't bother fighting it the first few times I killed it because I just abused the AI so it was stuck behind a wall while I Exalted Bladed it until it died.

weirdest thing is the behemoth DOES have pretty clear weakspot coloring, i can't help but wonder why the jugg's aren't a bright glowy red, and yhea the thing is pretty darn white for an infested, should be at least a little darker; that aside i DO like it's model, it's a pretty cool model, it just really REALLY needs better textures/coloring, and some animation improvements would be good too, back when it was still WIP they showed some pretty cool animations they never used for whatever reason.

oh btw prany, the charge DOES have an animation, the jugga crouches before lunging, thought it's admitedly hard to notice.

Meh, both of them are pretty easy to defeat.

The sonicor due to its hit mechanics hit all weak spots at the same time, same thing with the Excal exalted blade.

The thing I keep wondering with Juggernaut is whyever did they change it so heavily?

The original concept had it being some sort of gorilla sweeping ass. What we got was a large cow with stumpy legs. I guess the art director didn't like that brand of "cool".

[up][up] i personaly think the jugga is more of an infested double width headless rhinoceros

regarding why they changed it, i think i remember they said in a devstream that no matter how much they tried they couldn't make the other model work right, particularly 'cus, with it being more tall than wide and having a smallish torso they couldn't make it big enough for it to be imposing and at the same time being small enough for it to move around in the various tylesets in the game, that argument falls kinda short though, as the current jugga isn't that big either, then again it used to be bigger, but they had to resize it so it could go through doors (though imho they overdid it a bit, it could be a little bit bigger and still fit through doors)

then again silverbones himself seems to like the DE jugga more than his own, so there's really not much complaining to do on the subject

if anything i think it'd be cool if they used silverbone's original design for another smaller enemy, god knows the infested need more enemy variety, and a non-hunter heavy unit would be great to round them up

Gorilla-esque design would be good for animations. With those legs from original concept, Juggy could telegraph all of its attacks so much better and do polka dance for good measure. And with greater vertical stature, it could be slightly bigger. Doorways shouldn't be of much problem because functional joints enables crouching.

Current design isn't bad. It just feels like something for Giant Mook not mini-boss.

[up]How much have you run Uranus? To me oculyst are getting pretty annoying with their constant appearances: "Shit, is that Stalker? Nah, just three stooges."
