So, blah blah, yada yada, The Solar System is ruined and populated by no less than three (that's how many I encountered) factions of unpleasant rejects of humanity. And you're one of the Tenno, Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot Guyvers with melee weapons, guns and special powers granted by their armors called Warframes. Your job? Go forth, kick a lot of ass, reclaim the Solar System for the Tenno.

Every planet is a tree-like set of missions, and reaching the top of each branch unlocks the next planet in a pretty illogical fashion (for example, you start on Mercury, and upon completion you unlock Venus and... Saturn). Level design leaves something to be desired as rooms are often confusingly similar to one another, the minimap isn't helpful at all and you rarely have any clue as to what to do next. And the graphics? Budget Xbox 360 game.

It would suck an awful lot if it wasn't free, and as for the playerbase, you'll be dealing with that horrible sort of idiot mules focused on stealing shit from boxes daily. Oh yeah, and you're limited to four respawns daily. Once those are out, you have to buy more with real money.

I think "maps" are meant to be randomized, hence the rooms that look alike. All around, the level design didn't bother me much.

It is worth saying that the game is still in beta stade (or so I understood) and it is not stable. Regardless, I'm surprised how fast it loads and at the variety of modification we can make. The fast loading makes me forget the hiccups that happens every so often.

As for the graphic, I think they're good, not mind-blowing, but good.

Also, it doesn't matter much who gets what out of the loot boxes, at the end of the day you will have plenty enough munitions and the credits are shared, and the most important drops can be picked up once by all members to have different stuff. The only way someone can "steal" you is by not telling you where a "module" dropped so you can get your own, and so far most people I've seen were decent enough to use the waypoint system and show where said modules dropped.

I'm being optimistic for this game, but the devs still got work to do.

Does it have grinding crap like Planetside 2? That's what killed that game for me, having to fucking grind for years to get a single gun.

It has grind to put it bluntly, mainly if you want to go the hard way for the warframes (AKA the classes).

Guns aren't so bad I think, just gotta get credits. Which you still need to grind, but honestly I haven't reached the latest clusters, so I don't know how bad it is to buy a new gun with ingame credit.

You can craft guns/swords/warframes too, but you need blueprints, time and materials for those. Blueprints drops of bosses randomly, but the materials are easy to get for the guns/swords. The warframes becomes a pain in the ass because you can only get the materials from bosses, as opposed from the lockers you find in regular levels.

That's one thing I hope the devs will change, I know they don't want to make it easy but that's a bit overkill IMO. Someone who was more experienced than me estimated that you needed about 3 days to get a new frame, but I can't confirm or deny.

I don't know if there are any frames that are permanently faster than others, but what I know is:

  • Volt frame has an ability to accelerate itself. You use "power" (mana) to go faster. Not one of the three first available.
  • Excalibur frame has a dash power along with a mega-jump power (which isn't very necessary). This one is one of the first three.
  • Loki frame sprints 1.3 faster than the average, but you can get invisible and still sprint/attack, you don't consume more power for performing any of those action while invisible. This one is one of the first three.

Wikia here if you feel like wikiwalking. The wikia needs some love, but it'll do for now. And again, it's a beta, we only just got a "stealth" component in a recent update. The devs are still ironing out some issue with stealth all around. The invisibility power is really only good for reaching the enemy's backline and eating the suckers who can't attack back, OR de-aggro while still shooting stuff.

EDIT: Also, there are mods to accelerate your sprinting abilities further in term of both speed and endurance, so you can enhance Loki's natural good sprint even further.

Got it. Played a couple rounds. LOTS of fun. Has some blemishes, but it's damn good classic run'n'gun action. Game's taking its' sweet time giving me some suit powerups.

Chose the LOKI armor bcause of the cool helmet.

EDIT: WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT

I knew these things looked familiar. They're from the original Dark Sector concept before they gutted the game.

What happened here exactly?

Given that the original game's design was never used in the final product, my guess is that either a couple of those guys are former employees from the company that made the game and still had the data, or they're just fans of the art style.

Dudes, if the armors look like Dark Sector and they're even NAMED Tenno, I believe that they just dusted off the old resources and made them into this.

Also, I got my hands on +40% fire damage mod for melee weapons and +60% damage mod for pistols. Oh, and one that gives me +40% health. Once I grind enough cash for the Heavy Pistol and level it up to LVL 8 (which goes surprisingly fast, considering that I don't even use the rifle), asses gonna pop. Not like I don't do almost 40 damage with the basic pistol anyway (and that's scary, because OOTB it does 24 dmg).

About frames power up: Do you mean the abilities or other mods? Cause at some point, you'll get much more power ups. I've had like 5 on average per round. Often, I got 10, so that's pretty neat to empower my existing mods with the scraps I get.

This is crayzy. Dark Sector was one of the first trailers shown for the seventh generation. I remember getting all excited about it. And then they turned it into a modern setting with Russians because the publisher got involved. Guess they really wanted to make this game.

And hell, I guess I really wanted to play it.

Just got to saturn.

Holy shit, the Rhino frame can stomp time itself.

It's in the description of his fourth ability:

Rhino stomps with force sufficient to disrupt time, tumbling enemies around him in stasis.

Look people, if that doesn't make you want to play the game, I don't know what will.

You can stomp time!

In truth, it's just an AOE stun, but still, it's funny to overreact about things like that.

The game is so much better when you don't play with complete mules. I also managed to fit all four powers plus shitton of HP and shields, and a power amp, and some extras on my Excalibur. Not to mention some stupid damage from my basic pistol (I managed to combo my +60% ordinary damage with +40% fire damage - although I'd prefer the Armor Pen mod) and just as stupid Skatana buffs (+45% fire damage, +28% ordinary damage, +5% stun). Now all I need is 5 more energy - with 125, it'll be "dash into the thick of mooks, then just pop the Radial Javelin and SHISHKABOB!".

Also, ASSES POP. I can take a missile to the face from the Grineer Rocketwhore boss and all it does is knocking down my shields. At level 14 I have 260 shields and 360 HP.

One of my favorite mod must be my reflex coil. Heavy attack all day erryday. I maxed my invisibility too, but I put emphasis on my shields since I'm not in the thick of the action and the other Loki powers are situationnal at best, otherwise I could easily fit them in.

I also just bought some akimbo pistols because akimbo pistols.

Now I want a new frame, but I'm not sure which one to get. Mag and Volt sounds kinda cool, but Rhino tempts me too, if only to Rhino-charge bitches. There's also Nyx that looks awesome.

I keep getting disconnected from parties. I either need a steady group Or get used to playing solo.

Dear lord that Saryn Warframe looks badass. I want it. Just 10000 more until I can afford the blueprint.

Just remember you'll still need to farm a boss for the 3 part's blue prints. And THEN you'll need to get the material for those blue prints.

Yeah, it's pretty tenuous to get a whole new frame.

Well, played up till I unlocked Venus and Saturn. Here's what I think.

1. Net code is, uh, less than desirable, to be frank. It's almost as bad as Dark Souls' netcode was. This needs fixed PRONTO if it wants to survive and grow after the actual release.

2. The parkour is neat, but needs a little more work. It could also use some faster enemies that can catch up with your speedy roboninja ass.

3. Only two frame slots and three for weapons? That's a bit mean, even for Free To Play, mainly because it forces you to sell shit you spent a lot of time on.

Otherwise, shit's fun.

I'm not sure how netcode matters?

Also, you get 8 slots for your weapons, you just get 3 weapons at once equipped.

And for the frames, considering how long it takes to get one, it's hardly a problem. Also, use some of the plat you get for free to buy more slots if it bothers you.

Yeah, apparently you do get a tiny allowance of plat even if you don't give them any real money. That's nice.

Bought the Saryn blueprint, but now I need some Saryn components. There's no way to trade with other players, is there? Hoo boy.

And now I have a mod that augments my charged melee damage a lot.

Hur hur, got AP mods for pistols and melee. Just when I thought my leveled Lato was enough of a rape cannon without those. Plus, they're cheap as chips (2 energy on lvl 0, 3 energy on level 1) that you can always slot them without much problem.

That and my leveled Skana is just plain fucking insane. Doing obscene damage wasn't enough, now it chews through armor like nobody's business.

Didn't you build your cronus yet?

It's just a plain upgrade to Skana. You need to level it first, but when it's done it'll get bad. For them.
