Akko doesn't have the body of an 11 year old.
Diana is UNUSUALLY tall for a woman (close to 6 feet), nevermind a teenage girl, and is beautiful and thin. The term is Statuesque. Akko is much smaller (5'4") which is about average for a Japanese girl. Its less that Akko is as small as an 11-year old (although Japanese girls do tend to be shorter than British girls) and more that Diana was unusually tall at 11.

So, Akko is kinda small and scrawny next to Diana?
Well seeing as Akko and Sucy seem to be the only Asian characters and while not always the case Asians tend to be smaller than non Asians I feel like it should have been pretty obvious that Akko is smaller and slimmer than everyone else.
The one Japanese girl in the cast would also stereotypically be expected to be more reserved and polite and communitarian than all the Westerners about, so Akko has not matched the national trends much so far.
More Diana flashback...
Isn't it always BP whenever an antagonist knows their foolproof plan is somehow foiled and are just prepared in some other way to stop the protagonist?

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Well, this was handled as poorly as it could.
Diana's ritual failed and all this subplot would be a "Shaggy Dog" Story if it weren't for the Fifth Word, which gives a special broom that completely replaces Constanze's gift before it was even properly used (assuming Akko can fly this one) and kills the Shooting Star's Chekovs Gun potential. But everything is okay because Daryl's family had a Heel–Face Turn for absolutely no reason.
Reason: Suffering + Humility = Attitude Change
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie...... way to put everything I liked about this episode around into bad points using logic I totally understand.
BTW, we have to find out if Akko can fly with that broom. Give it another episode or so.

Stuff happened? Except not really? Aside from Diana growing to respect Akko? Which she already did? A lame two-parter just for the fifth word.
Maybe the change here will be the way Hannah and Barbara treat Akko now that she brought Diana back to school while the two of them tried nothing.
It DID surprise me that we spent a two-parter for a ritual that ultimately never got passed. I suppose the focus intended by the writers was more on Akko and Diana's friendship.
She arrived (thanks to the super Broom) in tme to do the ritual.
But opted instead to save her aunt and cousins from their horrible fate. By freeing them, she lost her chance to do the ritual.
This showed her kindheartedness and self-sacrifice: She's willing to save even those who gave her trouble. she lived up to her family creed (healers), more than the ritual

This episode was amazing.
Diana best girl. I love how in the end she lived up to her family tradition by saving her aunt ad cousins without regard that they tried to interfere with her. Even Bellatrix showed up to see her. She really is her family future.
Also the revelation that sh at on point lost the ability to use magic and trained herself back up was like... hot damn. Mad respect there.
Diana and Akko interactions this episode were great, I could only squee. Akko has so much faith in her!
I have to say, Andrew is a bro.
Thiple broom for three times the speed.
Now Diana is free to pursue her own dream.
Aww, Diana is such a tsundere. They are totally besties now, tho.
This two-parter was the best this show was yet. Really loved it.
Now I'm thinking even more about the parallels now between Diana and Akko versus Chario and Croix. I'm assuming that something similar happened to the latter, but Chariot... let her sempai leave and pursue restoring magic her own way?
I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. I love the development it gave Diana, especially her relationship with Akko, but I honestly really don't care about all the stuff involving her aunts and cousins. The other thing is that it felt like they really didn't need this to be a two-parter. There was a lot of extraneous stuff that could've been trimmed to make it into one episode, which would've probably worked just as well. I know a lot of stuff happened, but even so.

Ok!
LWA's first 13 episodes are coming to Netflix June 30th.
Hopefully it'll have an English dub by then.
-_-
Sigh. A ton of fans would've illegally seen the episodes by now not to care.
Come on, Netflix. Is there a reason why they're not worried about this?
yep..
the hardcore fans who sailed the seven seas to watch are a tiny minority. The OV As are consistently top 100 on Netflix. So it will be with the series.

Given that 1. Netflix is simulcasting the series somewhere else 2. they have all the economic data we don't have, they most likely conclude that it will be more profitable to release the series at a later date.
While I feel that this two-parter could have been tightened up way more, I must say I appreciate the assortment of Diana faces.
That was probably my favourite part. Diana makes a lot of interesting faces when put into situations she's not comfortable with. And when she's expressing genuine happiness, because that's never bad.
Despite everything, I'm not really sure how much Diana grew in these two episodes. Mostly they just highlighted who she really is. She didn't really do anything she wouldn't have done previously. The area she did grow in was learning about who is is, and accepting herself and her own wishes. Well, other than still being stubborn about not saying anything positive about Akko, to Akko.
I also like how clearly Andrew respects those two witches, despite his sceptical view of magic.
Check out my fanfiction!I think part of the problem there is that Diana isn't exactly a heavily flawed character to begin with. She starts off extremely competent and from a personality standpoint her worst flaw is that she hangs out with Hanna and Barbara despite them being jerks. Diana herself doesn't have a lot of patience for foolishness, but she's perfectly willing to respect Akko when Akko gets her shit together. As a result, the episode is less about Diana growing and more about simply leaning about her backstory and why she is why she is. Most of the growth here concerns Diana's relationship with Akko rather than Diana's growth as an individual.
Reaction Image RepositoryI don't think that's a problem, though. Character traits aren't a zero-sum game, like how PvP video game characters probably should be. Characters like Diana who in some cases can appear as a little "too" perfect tend to work better as side characters, letting others get the main focus. On the other hand, would've been nice to see Akko grow a little more, rather than just trying to steam ahead on her own personally invasive track the way she's always done.
Growth can also be thought of as retroactive, since we saw how Diana used to be. Which is still really much the same as she is now, skill levels and knowledge aside. What's more interesting is how much alike Akko she really is. Just as stubborn, and doesn't actually have that innate talent a lot of people assumed she had.
Check out my fanfiction!
They're ramping Croix up to have a much larger role in the last few episodes.
