TV Tropes meta thread

I've a smilar issue with mightymewtron in that the work I tend to pimp for most certainly doesn't have anyone who fits the bill of Complete Monster and I'm not as aware with other stuff if they fit or not.

All this being said, I lurk on the CM thread constantly because it's fun to read everything and have no actual involvement. And I think the people there are aware of that by now lmao

Discovered a completely insane short story today because of it and it's been on my mind

I like reading about the Former Complete Monsters because it fascinates me how a character can ultimately not count because on page 86 of chapter 20 he mentions loving his dog or something.

I find it interesting that (currently) Ready Jet Go has more than 3 times the amount of wicks of BoBoiBoy, but the latter has more than 2 times the number of inbounds. Both work pages were made in June 2016.

Could be that one work is more popular but the other has a more dedicated editor base?

I mean, Ready Jet Go! had that one editor who straight up admitted to pimping it and making it seem more mature to try to boost popularity

All the literature examples on Mi'raj were from LitRPGs until I added Impossible Creatures.

I like how whenever it seems like you've troped something pretty comprehensively one of two things happens: You stumble upon a trope you've never heard of before that illustrates something in the work perfectly, or you realize you missed something blindingly obvious.

Happens to me all the time, tbh.

Same lol. I wonder how I didn't know Power Misidentification was a thing for despite being a contributor of the BoBoiBoy pages for a few years. Pretty sure I made a Trope Finder query of another aspect of the example instead of looking for a trope like this straight up.

I think for me a lot of the time I just won't be thinking about a certain scene or storyline until I see the trope, at which point I recognize it. I'm rarely actively searching for tropes if I'm not making a page lol.

Something that bothers me irrationally is when an example begins with "[X] is this" or any variation thereof, even when it will then go on to explain why X counts as that Trope so it's perfectly within guidelines.

I saw a lot of examples like that when I made Sandbox.Sim City 4. I rewrote some, but left others as-is.

Trope Report has been delayed a lot these last two months. How big an issue is that? We usually try to release them in time, but the grammar check seems to be taking too long; plus some of the entries only get finished on the last few days.

I just realised that the TLP Crash thread's name is a pun. I always assumed it was originally made after a server crash.

My observation as an on-and-off contributor is that (at least for this month) the grammar check was done already but the matter was the lack of someone to launch the page. Is launching the page a thing anyone can do? It's the mods who can lock it and make the bulletin though...

The issue is that we don't want to just assume it's all set if we aren't told. So it just sits there since we aren't quite sure what to do.

I assumed it was some April Fool’s Joke gone funky or something. Last I heard, it was apparently being released as a video but that might have been the joke.

Well, did you read it? I think our gimmick is pretty clear.

I read it in the sandbox if that’s what you meant, which was why I suspected that the video in of itself was the April Fool’s Joke.

The joke is the YT theming. The "video upload" was a joke to justify a delay.
