So, the Work in Progress reboot kinda failed, since no one has posted in it for a while. But, y'know, the idea of an RP where the divine entities from fictional shows interact is still fun and interesting.

But apart from Work In Progress- where these gods create a world and its people, a la Black & White- I think there's something else that can be done with the concept, which is why I started this thread. For us to throw around ideas of what could be done with a Divine Multifandom RP.

I'd be willing to GM this new RP, unless someone else comes along with a way better idea that said person wants to be GM of.

How about the gods constantly couldn't agree on something, and the conflict and uncontrolled altercations created a singular entity wanting to destroy their creations? As for the Gods themselves, you would have to take into account of offspring between the gods and their religions. Plus, if you include Christianity/Judaism/Islam's singular deity what purpose would it play?

The Gods are the fictional gods from different fandoms, not Gods based on real-life religions.

That solves one problem, but which fandoms would these gods be coming from? I figure there'll be conflict none the less, and since they're godly beings some of them will cross-breed. Plus they'll be broken into castes as you can't have the God of Table Salt on a equal field with the God of Everything.

[up] I don't know why would anyone pick the God of Table Salt when there are a thousand Gods of Everything out there. And you can't pick the God of Everything, since in the other R Ps, each God was God of something (knowledge, demons, science, etc).

And it's from any fandom that has a Divine entity.

Wait, that does sound fun, the playing as Gods part. But what would be the story of the RP? What would they be doing?

Alright, but what happens when gods of similar natures arrive? Does anyone of a certain type get grouped together, and who would be the King of Gods?

[up][up] That's what we're trying to find out.

[up] No one gets grouped together and there's no King of Gods. We just ask "hey, can each god have a different domain?" Although the gods can later try to expand their domains, or try to become the "King", that doesn't happen in the start.

Hmmm...

To be honest, I think what made the past few attempts die was that we spent so much time setting up the act of creation that we entered arc fatigue before we could ever actually get anything done. At the very least, I'd suggest starting off with a pre-established world where the characters are all pre-established deities rather than going through the process of setting everything up.

[up] But the thing is, that setup part can allow for various things. Like we can setup what the relationships between the Gods are going to be, and what their effect on the world will be. With that set up, after the timeskip, we can focus on the interaction between the Gods and the people down below.

But then again, in the last one, there wasn't much interaction. It felt like everyone was doing their own thing, and not a lot of them were actually interacting.

That "Gods try to expand their domain or become the King of Gods" part seems like fun, although... there'd be nothing but character interaction...

I'm not saying it's a problem, because look at the Greek Pantheon of Gods. Backstabbing, demigods, romances, secret alliances, betrayals, titans, and all that jazz. Lots of stories can come from that.

Do the gods have to be from official material or can we create our own? I was part of something similar beforehand, but it only lasted one update. Though, we made a death world that was made from the molten core of the moon. After the first two posts everything was focused on the earth though...

Will we eventually get to play as denizens of the world below?

[up] They have to be from already existing works.

And probably. We never got to that stage in Work of Progress.

Does the RP need a name? Anyways, defined "already existing works" because I'm not very good at playing others' creations.

... uhm, works that already exist. Animes, Mangas, Cartoons, Movies, TV Shows, Books, Video Games...

So that applies to fan-fiction and original works as long as there's a physical copy of it to be linked to? Oh, is the world empty when everyone first arrives? Because I have the concept that the first normal to enter an empty universe becomes a god.

[up] Uh, no to fanfictions, and original works published on the internet are fine.

And we haven't decided that yet.

I think one problem with backstabbery a la Greek mythology is the dreaded one-upsmanship contest that is 99% sure to follow. However, if the players agreed to resolve such conflicts beforehand...

How annoying. I'm sure I've come across plenty of god-like characters in various games and such, yet I can't think of anyone I'd use for this.

Plus, I think the solution to the worldbuilding part is, well, to do it in advance. Other words, create territories, alliances, etc etc etc before the RP starts, so we'll be able to focus on the plot once it does.

I think the universe would be best empty upon arrival. That way everything can be decided for two/three pages or whenever we decide there's enough. Or we can plan everything out in advance and not waste pages. Much better idea.

What would count as "original works published on the internet" by your standards? Also, how powerful are the gods allowed to be? Should they be able to die?

[up][up] That sounds like a good idea.

[up] Webcomics and Web Originals.

They're... gods. Murdering a God should be really hard for other Gods and impossible for humans. And they should be as powerful as Gods.

[up][up] As someone who participated in most of the other iterations of this idea, I caution against not doing the world-building in advance due to the aforementioned reasons.
