Note, things are likely to be added/changed in its current state.

Year Five Hundred A.D: The battlefield skewered with the bodies of the dead, all that stand before the demon lords were the thirteen foolish mages who created them. Wanting to repent for their mistakes, each had spent tireless years to create the ultimate anti-magic spell. Casting it, the demons' flesh were sheared trying to get close to them. One by one the demon lords disappeared as their respective mage died, until only the strongest of each were left. Severely weakened, they knew they needed to stop the other. The final mage, known as Hal the Quiet prepared the back-up plan. Should one or more of the demon lords exist, the mages had created prisons to seal them away forever. Ramming the crystal shard into Titan the Savage Earth it screamed in agony as its body was broken down by the prison. Clattering as it fell, Hal passed out from exhaustion.

Year Seven Hundred & Fifty A.D: The magical worlds have been sealed from the plane the anti-magic dome envelops. All exclusively magical creatures inside experienced a violent cessation of existence, while all forms of magic have been sealed. Humanity has since forgotten about magic and the struggle of the mages. Creatures within the dome such as elves and unicorns still possess minor innate magic, but for all purposes are considered normal. The temple Titan was sealed in has been long forgotten, and lost to the desert sands.

Year One Thousand A.D: The very borders of the dome have been assaulted by magic in an attempt to destroy it, and artificial soldiers were sent in before learning of their failure. The denizens of the dome have rescued and inducted surviving humonculi into their society. The depowered remains of golems are being curiously studied along with the corpses of too magical humonculi. The beginning of a biological/technological revolution forms as the outside world stops its attacks.

Year One Thousand and Two Hundred Fifty A.D: Rudimentary artificial limbs have been created, and humonculi blood is now used to aid diseases and illness. Golem near the border of the dome briefly reactivated before shutting down just as quickly. Humonculi are considered a precious resource, and golem remains have been sealed away.

Year One Thousand and Seven Hundred Seventy A.D: The outside world has restarted their attempts to destroy the dome, and the world inside has created the first fully operational cybernetic hand. Technological progress is mainly focused on cybernetics and biological. First cloned humonculus made, and golem remains have been acting up due to the assault on the dome.

Year Two Thousand A.D: ''Space flight had been completely abandoned when test rocket crumpled and explode when it hit the dome's barriers. Functional robots have been created from the golems' remains, and bio-engineering has recently begun. Artificial and cloned humonculi have been created for a number of purposes. Only lab to currently make greater human-like humonculi has been destroyed by violent freedom rights activists. Number of five bodies missing from the compound when cleaned up. Denizens of the dome have gotten adjusted to the noise caused by the outside world's attack.

Year Two Thousand and Nine A.D: The ruins Titan had been sealed in is found by leading corporation C.O.R.E, Collectors of Relics Enslaved. Known for exploring the boundaries of the dome to find ancient items, and then using them to advance the world along with progress. Genetic material found within the core of Titan's crystal.

Year Two Thousand Twelve A.D: After several trials and experiments, genetic material within the crystal seems to enhance animals' intelligence. From resulting human trials nothing was noted besides slightly increased healing. Further experiments were to be set until noticing anything else in human subjects. C.O.R.E scientists the Dawson pair decided a harmless emission of the genetic material over the whole dome would do nothing, but decided enhanced healing would be worth it. Demon Lord Titan had been listening in on them, and focused all his built up magical energy into the sample they took...

R.A.G.E is... Well, something. Following from the final segment there the missile that would disperse Titan's genetic code will also destroy the anti-magic dome. When anti-magic is overcome by magic, the anti-magic spell shatters into pieces of wild magic. For the most part these would relate to what the anti-magic spell was for, so a shattered anti-magic spell for fire would create magic shards of fire. Now, due to its all encompassing nature... The magic shards of the dome can have any number of effects. With the shattering of the dome, three things will become obvious: People suddenly developing powers, magical creatures/items having their magic reignited, and the rest of the world becoming revealed to the dome.

Though that's not all. Since Titan's prison was never meant to be immune to advanced future technology, he'll become free but vastly weakened. In addition, a number of ancient golems and malevolent magic items will reawaken and continue their goal from years past. Finally, since no one is accustomed to magic or powers the former denizens of the dome will be in for culture shock when dealing with the outside.

Important Facts:

Anti-Magic: Special brand of magic with the opposite nature of all other magic, serving to weaken or negate other magic entirely. Anti-Magic is powered by one's life, and the more complex or complicated a spell is the more it requires. If Anti-Magic is overpowered by what its set to negate both spells will be cancelled and collapse into Wild Magic.

Assimilation: Specific type of Dark Magic used to enhance one's self at the cost of another's being. Ranging from assimilating psychic energy to an entire body there's little they can't absorb. Though, if something overpowers them the user will suffer if not die outright instead.

Demons: One part humonculi and one part coming back wrong, there's two types. Those created from removing one's negative traits, and Necromancy charged with black magic. The first type is mostly a symbiotic connection, as young Demons die if the person they were made from does as well. Those who build up enough magic or outlive their other half are immune. Demons created through corrupted Necromancy are the person's negative traits amplified, such as mild hate becoming all consuming rage or slight superiority becomes a god complex. Neither automatically means the Demon will develop magic powers, and only those who have magic can produce/become demons with magic.

Humonculi: Artificial life created by any number of means, they also come in a number of varieties. Humonculi aren't considered natural life, and thus are servants or even slaves to their creators. Many types of Humonculi can be programmed, and have what is considered an Incomplete Soul. Functioning almost the same, their souls are repulsive to soul-eaters and have little resistance to soul manipulation.

Golems: Magic constructs mainly created of raw elements they are supplied with a core which their body focuses around. Basic Golems are dimwitted inhuman creatures, though they become progressively smarter and humanoid the stronger they are. Basic Golems are capable of little more than automation, super strength and durability. The number of abilities they process grows the stronger they are, though some Golems are capable of (un)natural evolution.

Application Format:

  • Character Name:
  • Race:
  • Abilities: (Skills they know and powers they may have. If your character got their powers from being imbued with shards of the shattered dome, list what they were thinking of at the time. I will then decide the power)
  • Inventory: (The technology is more advanced along cybernetics and biological, while non-railed transportation aren't as fast and there's limited aircraft. Its also a common sight to have pet/servant humonculi and robots)
  • Bio: (Important things like their age, their job, etc goes here)

I will be happy to ask any questions you have, and the main plot will be off to a slow start at the beginning.

Name: Johnathan Price

Race: Human

Abilities: Johnathan was walking down the street when he heard a large crack. He looked up, saw things falling and thought "Is it raining? The weather forecast didn't say anything about rain." before a shard of the dome fell into his left eye. He can make it rain whenever he wants.

Inventory: Weather predicting glasses (Broken left lens)

Bio: Jonathan always had a knack for guessing the weather. His knack for weather forecasting led him to become one of the most successful weathermen in the dome. Johnathan is currently 25. He is 5.5 ft tall and weighs 170 lbs. He has Short Brown hair, a sinister looking left eye and a Dark Green right eye. He wears a Grey suit and a Black tie with a Blue raindrop pattern. Johnathan, like all other weathermen, was given a pair of weather predicting glasses that he is to wear at all times when he became a full-fledged weatherman.

Was he wearing the glasses when he noticed the dome falling apart? Anyways, you didn't describe how he looks and he could use some more backstory to at least explain why he became a weatherman. For the first ability he would manifest the ability to create rain.

I have some more concepts I'll write up later, and this is an alternate universe compared to our reality. Gonna have to figure out the landmasses for 500 A.D, but oh well.

Hm, interesting. The beginning bit is a bit confusing on the dome's creation - so it's an anti magic dome over Titan's temple created after the battle, and magic doesn't work inside the dome?

Most magic was suppressed, and any magical beings sealed inside something else (Such as a pocket dimension or trap) are unaffected. The dome was construction over a good portion of the world, and the temple created for sealing Titan was intended for others to maintain his imprisonment. The dome itself will be shattered by the beginning, and once inside nothing could escape. Though what I wrote could use some tidying up.

Ok, so all the homunculi and golems were within the dome. Exactly how big was the dome? If its enough to make such a society, then the course of history must've been seriously altered by the giant impenetrable dome in the middle of some continent.

Also, the space flight thing bugs me. How is it that they can see the stars? Also, seems like they should've tested the dome's strength before slamming a multimillion dollar craft into it.

The top being see-through was a trap/post-death taunt for any of the Demons that survived. They had spent years on constructing that spell, though the dome's denizens didn't often hit the edges. Though I honestly have little excuses for why they didn't test it beforehand. I'll change that part later.

And just making sure, our P Cs are domedwellers who just got magic and found out about the outside. This is probably obvious but I wanted to be sure.

Your characters aren't required to have magic, but suddenly having to deal with the magical outside world is almost completely required.

I'm definitely showing interest, although I'm not quite sure about a few things:

In order to recieve a kind of magic, does it have to reflect the character's life/personality, or does it just reflect the situation when they gained said magic? Also, exactly how powerful can these powers be? I'm obviously not planning on making a Demi-God, but are we limited to puny powers like predicting the weather? No offense, Yeti. evil grin

Regarding Wild Magic (the creation of magic overpowering Anti-Magic) the abilities granted are based entirely on the thing the person was focusing on most. The broader Wild Magic is the more expansive its evolution will be. There will be Ability Trees, so even if you get Lie Detection you could ultimately gain the ability to rewrite what is considered truth. Wild Magic doesn't like sameness, so even if multiple people had the same thought it'll find some way to make the resulting abilities unique-ish. Yeti actually has weather-predicting glasses, and since it was torn through by a shard of Wild Magic it'll also function as an amplifier somewhat. His true power is making it rain, which continued endlessly would drown the world. So its not like anyone will get powers regarding insanely specific impossible things like being immune to death by choking on a giant frog.

Alrighty! Let's try this out! Here's my first out of two characters:

Name: High Priestess Themis

Race: Elf (though very few people get close enough to notice)

Age: 236

Appearance: A Mother praying for her Children.

Abilities: Themis' magic has been significantly hindered by the dome, but her abilities still surpass most of her peers because she has virtually isolated herself from the physical world. Among the powers she possesses are Foresight (the ability to glimpse brief visions of the future, which CAN be altered or prevented depending on her intervention), and Telepathy through personal items; specifically a caged cricket (name TBD) she keeps in her cell for company. Themis has no physical power, and cannot take part in any battles directly.

Inventory: Aside from the cricket and the clothing she wears, Themis has virtually nothing that belongs exclusively to her, the reason why will be explained in her bio.

Bio: Themis is an Anchoress; a holy woman who has locked herself in a cell attached to the Delphi Cathedral, one of the largest and most frequently visited temples in the kingdom. Seldom anyone remembers Themis the woman, for she has resided in her cell for more than a hundred and fifty years, cut off from all worldly possessions or desires. In fact, her only connection to the outside world is a sliding window into the cathedral, which is both how she recieves her meals and speaks with pilgrims. Many consider Themis one of the purest people alive, and come to her for blessings and advice. The High Priestess is a benevolent, sage, and motherly guide, but she knows that her "children" learn best from being allowed to fall. She may not be able to accompany the heroes physically, but she may have her own special way of lending a helping hand.

Is she a natural member of the dome or did she get trapped there from wandering in? Looks good so far.

I'm not sure how she could wander in, since the dome was constructed more than a thousand years before she was born. I'd say she's a native dome-dweller, but has learned to focus her very limited magical abilities through meditation and isolation. Is that alright, or should I edit her profile a bit?

There's nothing stopping people from the outside from entering the dome, but that sounds fine. Added some additional information to the first post.

So, uh, how big is the dome and where is it? It seems like there are at least multiple city-states, which means that it's pretty big, and with enough resources for survival, so it's not out in the middle of an uninhabited desert. Also, the outside world has magic?

In case one of the Demon Lords were outside. To be honest I'm not sure about how much is/was inside the area, though I was thinking it took up half the world going in a circular direction from the center. The outside world has magic, and inside the dome is countless magical artifacts.

Wait, half the world? Which half? Also, civilizations are going to be really different, so what are the nations? The idea of someone who got in from the outside is kinda interesting to me.

Likely the right half, and nations still need to be figured out. The area where Japan is would be the ones leading in robotics and cybernetics while Russia or Europe deals with biological things. I can imagine Russia selling humonculi the most. People who entered from the outside aren't as diminished, though mainly because they weren't born within the dome.

The right? The Earth is a sphere, but I assume you mean around North America? Then who set up the dome? Around then, it would've been Native American tribes, I guess. So the dome civilization is based on the tribes of the native Ameicans, which of course wouldn't have gotten wiped out by Europeans... Well, that means that, assuming weather patterns didn't get screwn up, then I guess it's about five hundred years of alternate history, though of course that's not counting the magic changing things.

And why is Japan a leader in technology? If I remember correctly, in this world that only really started post-WW 2, and before that Japan was very isolationist.

Let's go with that, though this is interesting. I can imagine Asia being their buds and Asia dominating magic alongside them back then. People interested in magic would converge there to learn or study it, and I can see them creating the uncorrupted (at least good intentions) version of Dark Magic. Need to study that more, but if the Americas were in the dome then how should technology progress?

It just seems cool. Really need to think things through.
