We know that Specter of Torment will be a prequel based on what they said before they announced it at the Game Awards.

The reason some of it looks so unique is because Specter of Torment is built new from the ground up.

I mean, I know it is and I believe it is, but holy shit they're practically giving us a prequel game that's full lenght made from scratch for free.
Here's a sneak peak at one of the redesigned levels for Specter of Torment: Plains of Passage.
The level has been almost completely designed with new layouts, gimmicks and visuals. This also confirms that we'll be getting remixes of all the different level themes as well, things seem to be pretty hype!

Also, either demonstrator sucks at Shovel Knight, or Specter Knight is just hard to control.
And I can't be the only one who is reminded of the Homing Attack by the Rising/Diving Slash?
I'm getting some real castlevania vibes from the scenery. And some real Ryu/Copen vibes from Specter's playstyle.
I think it's a bit of both, specter knight looks hard to control, and I think the player was kinda...eh.

I can allow myself to be spoiled on the first level, but not more.
Based off the presentation of the level select, they could both serve as the first level.
I'm glad seemingly all the stages in the Specter campaign are getting new music. It felt kind of wrong to hear Shovel Knight's leitmotif in the Tower stages while playing as Plague Knight.
x7 The person playing as Spector Knight in the videos he said his only problem was he was going into Specter of Torment as a fan of Mega Man X. He thought the wall running worked the same as it did in Mega Man X, it doesn't. You only have a short amount of momentum to get up the wall before you have to jump and climb another wall.
He was also playing on the Nintendo Switch. It doesn't have a proper D-Pad, he said if you get a Switch and want to play 2D games purchase the Pro Controller.

Specter of Torment is tenatively dropping next month for the Switch. Other platforms will get it in April.

I don't remember if it was originally called "body swap" mode back on Kickstarter or not, but either way I noticed the wording was a bit peculiar whenever it was mentioned in their more recent blog posts. Guess we know why- it's surprisigly inclusive~!
Not only do you have the option to toggle each character's body type individually, but the options for their gender as referred to in dialogue are a separate option entirely.

But instead we get toggles for each individual character and can access it at any time during the game. Neat.
It's also great that they went through the effort to make sure there isn't Hitbox Dissonance occuring when swapping the sprites.
