I was just noting it rather than really complaining. It's a serial killer, so it's actually a bit better than people using them as a serious weapon . I just found it funny.
I don't really see a scissors trend. More like we're just learning about works that have scissors wielders.
Well, glad the knife trend is over. Boy was that a dangerous one! Think of it, implying to people that an implement you can find in any kitchen could be used to injure people, or worse!

You start to see deja vu when you realize Sentai licensed nearly all of the ones released in the last year. Danganronpa broke the chain by being subbed by Funi.
And the upcoming Drakengard 3 also has a crazy scissors girl. Spooooooooooooky.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThis is thread necromancy, but I have a good reason. I wanted to share a post I found that lists DVD sales for this season's anime. The numbers are fairly interesting.
Free shows itself to be it's detractors' worst nightmare come true. I'm not sure what's up with Brothers Conflict though. Silver Spoon and Watamote couldn't translate manga sales to DVD sales, which is a shame.
I did not expect Day Break Illusion to do that badly. Let this be a lesson to anime producers, you can't just make a Darker and Edgier Magical Girl series and expect to take advantage of Madoka's success.
C3-bu being that low saddens me greatly. Also Love Lab could do to be higher. Meanwhile Dangan anime sells pretty high despite being borderline bad...Goddamn I'm still butthurt about that, the game was great, the adaption doesn't do it an ounce of justice.
"And you must be Jonathan Joestar!" - SueThat's one of those things where being familiar with the source material actually means you're worse off; you always have to wince at the stuff they cut out, and know about the good things that are left in advance.
I'm rather sad that Brothers Conflict sold so much. Mediocre show, that one.
What's sad is that it's one of the better otome adaptations we've had.
Okay, I still didn't get far.
But the girl said no to the rape-y guy. I was kind of impressed.

"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."Whenever people say harems suck I think of otome game adaptations.
I've been thinking it over more, and I think Day Break Illusion's failure is actually worse than it looks. The Other Wiki says it was a multimedia project, with a light novel, a manga, and even a radio show. Back when they were advertising it, I got a very strong impression that the people in charge thought this show would be the Next Big Thing (TM). And it flopped like a fish.
Somewhere out there, a producer is going "what happened?"
Well, for one thing, the anime kinda sucked.
I've seen worse, but yeah. That had a massive "squandered potential" feel to it. If the concepts could have been better implemented, it might have done well.
This year was even worse than usual, but if you look at the data for previous seasons, Winter and Summer tend to have fewer high-selling shows than Spring and Fall.
For example, in 2011:
- Winter- 2 shows over 10K (Madoka and IS)
- Spring- 7 shows over 10K (Ano Hana, T&B, Ao no Exorcist, Steins;Gate, Gintama, Hanasaku Iroha, Dog Days)
- Summer- 4 shows over 10K (Uta Pri, Idolmaster, Natsume Yuujinchou 3, Yuru Yuri)
- Fall- 6 Shows over 10K (Fate/Zero, Persona 4, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, Working'!!, Haganai, Guilty Crown)
Note though that in this example, the top selling show of 2011 (Madoka) came from the comparatively weak Winter season. So while Sp/F tend to have greater quantities of high selling shows, W/Su can still have incredible blockbusters.
But then you also get years like 2012, which had Spring with 3 shows above 10K, and Winter and Summer with 4 (data unavailable for Fall).
One possible factor for this is that since Otaku only have so much money to spend on incredibly expensive discs, a season with a lot of popular shows can sometimes hurt the sales of the next season, as people don't have the money to spend on shows they may have otherwise bought.
This site is an incredibly useful resource for anime sales data, if you're interested.

I've certainly heard that part of the reason IS did as well as it did was because that season didn't have any other popular things that weren't Madoka.
Well, aside from ongoing series, but they sell so much it's not worth counting them apparently.

To be fair, I think the game came out before the scissors trend came about.
Don't mind me. I'm just a creepy little lurker.
