If they pull out all the underdog rising cliches and the instantly cut to Rindou crushing them that would indeed be great.

I would kind of like it if they expelled Megumi, not because I dislike her, but precisely because no one believes it could really happen, especially after the first fake out. It would honestly be a super shocking development, and it would be fun to seed the manga doing something so ballsy.

To me, this is exactly like the setup of Soma vs. Eishi; they make you think the main character will lose and join the antagonists side but then nope. I hate that so much.

I don't want to repeat the same thing Megumi had with Shinomiya, and while I think Tsukada could get away with temporarily expelling her until the end of the arc, I just don't see it happening.

So at the very least, they better give her a damn convincing way to move on.

Oh and ya know...Takumi is there too guys...just a reminder. Hope nobody forgot.

I honestly don't know where this is going. Having Elite 10 lose here would just rob them out of all credibility and would be the worst possible option. And as much as I wish it would happen, I don't actually expect the expulsion to actually happen. But what else is left to happen but a cop out?

It would be insultingly stupid won but went "lol we are not going to actually expel you!" after Central spent so much time looking for an excuse to get rid of the rebels. It will take some really good writing to resolve this in a satisfying manner.

As if things didn't look bleak enough already.

What I can see happening is that they don't beat them, but they move on through some stipulation; they're there to test them after all, they'll probably just prove their way of cooking good enough for Tootski without actually beating any of them.

Its a bit of a cop out but its the only way I can see this resolving with everyone passing without making the Elite 10 look less credible. I don't think the Tsukada has it in him to actually expel anyone, even someone as minor as Those Two Guys.

No it is a direct showdown, we know that much. But it'll be as much of a showdown as Megumi against Shinomiya was.

I meant more along the lines of they get to set the win conditions besides just "Beat me or get expelled".

But why would they set easier winning conditions if they want to get rid of them?

Yea, I mean there's no special stipulation between Soma and Hayama; its just a straight up "Make a better dish" competition it looks like.

There's no reason tell them beforehand that they don't need to win. That might make them not do their best. There's also other ways this could go. For example, Azami actually gave the expulsion decision right to the Elite Ten and simply assumes they'll do as he wants or doesn't have enough authority to take away that right from them for some stupid reason.

We don't really know what limitations he's under or what he's trying to do. If he could do absolutely anything that's within the position of his authority he could have expelled them immediately. I mean, he wasn't the one responsible for the first jerk teachers. It's even possible he isn't really trying to fail them out at all right now.

I don't know how I'd feel about Azami being a Sink or Swim Mentor...

I don't know, I was half asleep. Probably something more like the evil boss not killing you so he can use you for his plan to take over the world or whatever.

Given how the manga is throwing more and more new characters at us, I'm all for removing the ones who pretty much have no purpose in the plot any longer.

Although the scene Arha proposed in @4502 seems like a rehash of the summer training camp.

Yes, considering she was going to be expelled for something that wasn't her fault (and that she managed to work around perfectly).

So obviously totally different from my amazing prediction where she gets offpaneled within the space of a single page and gets booted from Tootsuki.
