Come to think of it, if the Shiomi seminar was making that much money how does Azami still have so much support from the board members after shutting it and other presumably profitable groups down for no reason?

I mean, that's the thing. Back well he first appeared, I suggested that Azami would get run out in fairly short order because his elitism would bring financial disaster.

It's really weird to me that everyone seems to be going 'welp, Azami is a jerk with insipid plans and poor financial planning, and his main supporters are students. Such a shame there's nothing we can do about him and are forced to just accept his presence and plans'.

Jouichiro did say that Azami's been building up his finances and connections, so I would assume he's just become that influential.

I mean, influential with who, though?

Senzaemon said he's been building up his reputation and establishments across the seas, sooooo.

I'd imagine the reason the board members are backing him is because his reputation precedes him. Yea sure, he's a piece of shit of a person but I doubt they really care about his personality. He's a former first seat of Tootski, has many cooking accomplishments under his belt, has fathered one of the best chefs of the next generation, and his current regime has probably had more students passing than ever.

When you consider all of that, its not that hard to rationalize why people in universe are behind him. Obviously though, since he's a piece of shit of a person, its something we overlook.

I think it would be funnier if he actually liked Ryou.

And the vampire is here. Should be good. Worst case scenario, she loses outright while actually trying her best. I can't really see her intentionally trying to make good cooks fail out when she's not much of a real Azami supporter. I guess how she handles the match is far more important than what those two dorks do.

Less than one in a million? These are shounen characters, Kuga; one in a million are great odds for them.

A 10% chance is pretty unlikely, but everyone knows that a one-in-a-million chance is a sure thing!

But seriously, I think that someone should fail out (probably those two guys from Polar Star) but it should be against one of the unestablished Elite Four Members, with maybe one person we know is at the lower end of strong like Ikumi, Isami, Yuuki, or Marui. We're already intimidated by Rindou, we don't need proof that she's strong.

Just failing Those Two Guys from the dorm is the easy way out. I know what I think should happen but not at all sure what I think the author is actually going to do.

What do you think should happen if I may ask?

None of them actually defeat the Elite Ten (except maybe Soma, not totally sure how I want that to go) but most of them impress them enough to pass, but some get let go. But just having those two guys whose names no one can even remember feels like a copout. But given how somethings have been going, I honestly wouldn't be that surprised if the more jerkish members of the Elite Ten just lost because reasons.

Speaking of names, I was sure Alice's father/Lenora's husband's name was Natsu, but apparently not. I thought she yelled "Natsu-san!" in her Soma food fantasy, but maybe that was just about their summer together or something?

Based on this chapter, his nickname is Nassan. In Japanese, double vowel sounds are represented by a small 'tsu' character, so it's likely the translators simply misread it. なつさん　versus なっさん

Nassan is presumably short for Nakiri.

Yea, the anime went with Na-san too, which made me think "Nakiri-san". And wow, its pretty great that absolutely nobody has any faith in anyone beside Soma to defeat an Elite 10, its funny how far above he is everyone in his group haha.

But yea, they definitely won't lose straight but impressing them seems likely.

I think it's also worth noting that everyone else seems to be working in teams. 2 against 1.

Soma must be special :V

If that's the case, let's break down the potential teams.

• Takumi and Megumi
• Yuuki and Ryouko
• Marui and Ibusaki
• Hisako and....Butt Bros.
• Ikumi and Isami

Yea, that sounds about right. Now the question is who is facing who, I doubt anyone facing Tsukasa is passing. He seems extremely hard to impress.
