If I remember correctly the comic was Italian and the TV adaptation aired in Canada, but sure USA USA!
I also remember it had a lot of grunting but I guess that was the nineties.

Hulu+, huh? Damn. I've already watched the whole series, what little of it there was, but I'm not feeding the Hulu beast just to watch it again with less artifacting. Even though the animation was easily one of the best things about this series—the amazingly fluid fight sequences, the expressive character designs, and that cape!
