There's nothing wrong with a bit of Killzone.
So what's the story behind this one? My net is incapable of loading youtube videos atm, and I must say (despite only owning the first game) I'm curious.
Seems like the Helghast are infiltrating and commiting acts of terrorism.
Jonah FalconEhh, what else is new :/
I just checked out the Killzone page; apparently a whole bunch of Helghast have been residing on Vekta since the end of Killzone 3, and 30 years on a new fight is brewing with extremists stirring up shit again.
There's a new protag (A shadow marshal!) and hopefully a cameo from one of the original team. I kind of hope Luger's in the game; she got shafted after 1, almost like she got retconned out of continuity. Only Jan and Rico came back for the sequel(s), with Hakha and Luger getting next to no plot involvement after Killzone 1.
I could be wrong, I only know the plot summaries of 2 and 3. but I'm fairly sure that's the situation.
Here's the full preview.
As good as this looks, and speaking as someone who likes the Killzone games (even and especially 3, short as it was), the gameplay felt a little stale. It didn't help that I was constantly getting OCD backseat gamer compulsions when whoever was in control would NOT move the camera, leaving it slightly tilted downward, or would move it veeeery slowly to get good scenery shots. Eck! Plus the scripted bit at the end... mleh.
Not terrible, but I hope to see something more impressive further down the road.
I believe Luger showed up in one of the handheld titles. Hakha... he got some written explanation as to what he's been up to/epilogue somewhere.

this place needs me hereThe series isn't really bad, it's just a little average. It's still fun, and the later games get a bit better I hear.
I can see Luger as an awesome retired soldier, killing just as well as her glory days but lamenting on her relationship with Jan before he got killed.
Killzone 2's visuals were legendary at the time, though it was a little sluggish to control and generally takes place in a single environment. Killzone 3 had tighter controls and new locales, more akin to the first game. It's not a KZ 1 —> KZ 2 evolution, but it's still a strong game, and had a split-screen co-op campaign! Unfortunately, the campaign was probably shorter as well.
I can't say much about the multiplayer, since, while I enjoy it from time to time, I haven't gone terribly in-depth with either. I enjoyed myself with KZ 2's multiplayer a bit more though.
this place needs me hereSome of the best fun I've had with Killzone 1 is the multiplayer. You can set up a deathmatch with a whole bunch of computer characters and just go nuts, or you can spawn one other computer character and have an endurance battle.
I tried it with my friend, but he can't enjoy older games.
this place needs me hereDid the gunfire sound like static to anyone?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Considering that it seemed to have energy weapons in place of projectiles I'm not surprised. Overall I like the look of the environments, looks like BF 3 levels of polish for those. That opening shot of the city looked amazing. I also like the look of the Helghast terrorists wearing hoodies. I wonder why all of those ships were in the sky though. Did they expect a terrorist attack or something?
I also like how they're going the Republic Commando route for the weapon, being able to change it from assault rifle to sniper rifle and whatnot.

Watched the gameplay trailer again in more detail, unfortunately from the brief glimpses of civilians I saw, it looks as though people are still lining their clothing with glue. Lame.
Also, if anyone thinks Guerrila is pulling a Killzone 2 trailer with this footage, they played the game on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon here.
At one point, Jimmy takes over and you can clearly tell from his... his gameplay... that none of this was prerendered.

this place needs me hereWait when was the PS 4 announced?

I hope they improve the blood particles for this game, they look very outdated and especially bad in cinematic moments of the demo, like when the player stabs the Helghast Infiltrator, or when the Infiltrator guns down the people in front of you. I'll try to get some screen grabs to illustrate what I mean.

this place needs me hereDang, you guys really haven't been keeping up with this one.
Well, courtesy of NeoGAF, there's a compilation of new near-release previews from various press outlets and a hefty clutch of gorgeous new screens and footage. And when I say gorgeous, I mean gorgeous.

this place needs me hereYeah, I watched a gameplay video of the main character going around the Helghast side of the wall to apparently track a crashed gunship and it looked pretty good. I especially like how the little drone can become a zipline or turret.
Man this game is astoundingly gorgeous. I'm really surprised more people aren't talking about the visuals. Even as someone who doesn't usually get roped in on graphics these look REALLY damn good.
nyo ho hoYeah, I especially liked how the city looks. Amazing visuals, even when that building exploded XD
I hope this gets laughed out of court.
Wasting court's time with useless crap like this. Fools.
I dunno, they might have a case about the whole "not showing at truly native 1080p" thing.
Watch Dogs did the same thin and no one sued over that!
Not yet, anyway. I'm sure the main reason why there's no one suing over the Watch Dogs thing yet is because no one has gotten around to doing it at the moment.
It'd be a pathetic case even then. The effect the lessened framerate and screen resolution would have on multiplayer are absolutely minimal, even if lag were factored in. He's only suing them because they're a big, easy and recognizable target. If he truly was a social justice warrior or concerned about the state of gaming, he'd be suing all of those damned pay-to-win games on the mobile phones. Those games can be outright fraudulent and frequently steal the art assets from other games all the time!
Another damned Killzone game.
