I was actually talking about the creative director's claims in this interview here.
I'm staying skeptical on this one. Most developers would like to innovate in some way, and most of them fail. If their entire system rests on pseudo-Press X to Not Die segments, I can't imagine how banal the rest of the game might turn out.

PS4 is already being sold at a profit and 50% of PS4 owners have PS+.

^^^ I guess that minor neck wound was more serious then that other guy's lung and stomach injuries, eh?
I think a Quick Time Event is all you really need for close combat in a shooting game. The important thing is to make it feel present without overshadowing the main game play. Bio Shock 2 to for example remove the 'pipedream hacking mini game' for Quick Time Event which critics generally agreed suited the gameplay more.

It looks like Sony made the right saw choice making their motion control an optional add-on rather then an intricate part of game console.

hashtagsarestupidI love that news.
Even then, I wouldn't call a QTE in a shooter an "evolution" by any stretch. They want the melee and shooting elements to blend together seamlessly, and I'd rather see how they're going to do that over more of these shooting demos.

Some believe Sony should follow Nintendo by making an even smaller version of their console for Chinese release. I don't mind that idea, to be honest.

If you live in one of these places, registration is free. I got mine completed
Sony is picking up the bill for the indie section at TGS this year (developers won't have to pay for exhibition space). They don't care if it's not on a PS platform, so long as the TGS staff approve it.
The cynic in my says it's a PR move, but it's still a really nice PR move. The other two console-makers could learn from this kind of good will.

Of course it's a PR move. That doesn't make it a bad thing. Keeping indies happy helps Sony in the long run, because last year saw the death of the Double A publisher. A constant flow of creative indie games is vital to a release schedule, so that people always have something to play, even when the next Triple A tentpole title is months down the pipeline. Plus it fosters goodwill with gamers in the short term.
If Sony got nothing out of it at all, they wouldn't do it. But there's basically no downside, so why not?
I agree with all of that.
It's EA, so you knew it was coming, but I'm still happy to see the PS 4 stealing an exclusive from the Xbox One.
Okay I giggled at this gif◊ that was made in predictions to Sony's E3.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Wooooo!
Oh really when? So, it turns out Sony is growing another studio made up of students out of NYU's game program, which is how they scouted and subsequently signed their 3-game deals with Giant Sparrow and Thatgamecompany. This new group is called Pixelopus, they'll apparently be 1st-party, and their first game will be debuting at this E3.
Hoping for more artsy games. Thatgamecompany's next title will probably be multi-plat, so there'll be a shortage experimental exclusives for a bit.
The end of an era. Happy I already have my Vita.
And I only got a few games for my PSP. Most of which are already on my Vita. Except Birth By Sleep for some reason.
I've built a large collection of PSP games over the years, both digital and physical. It's had its ups and downs, but in the end I still love the thing.
Bad news.
Media Molecule and Guerrilla Games won't be at E3.
I think Sony might be putting more faith in Gamescom at this point.
Disappointing. I thought Media Molecule would be at this E3 for sure after their concept demo at the PS 4 reveal last year. In fact, they were just about the only thing I was really looking forward to. Hope Sony has some good surprises up their sleeves. All these delays are making 2014 look barren.
every little word and every little stepDon't be so down chums, just more time for the HD HD port of The Last Of Us.
I already played The Last of Us. It was phenomenal, but I can't get excited about the same thing at a higher resolution/framerate. I want to see something amazing and new.
every little word and every little stepAgreed. I like new stuff, not rehashed versions of stuff I have already played, unless it's actually better than that previously played stuff and not just graphically.
Well, an improved framerate might make it more responsive.
every little word and every little stepHas there ever been a console and handheld bundle before? Because if there isn't, Amazon may have leaked the first, and it's a PS 4 and Vita bundle.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Pretty sure there was a PS 3/Vita bundle last year.
As for The Last of Us Remastered, don't think of it as a rehash. Think of it as a Game of the Year edition that got a facelift to cross gens. Because that's what it is.
I never seen a Conference 180 so quickly from being captivating to "WTF are you guys thinkiing?!"
Sony did show a few cool new exclusives and some really awesome looking Indie PSN titles. And I won't like, I've been waiting for Vita/Playstation TV to get announced.
How very Gears.
I heard Ready At Dawn were using their experience with the Go W franchise to include some mildly complex melee sequences. I want to see those ASAP.
The graphics are super good, but I'm hoping Ready at Dawn will show something more interesting about the shooting gameplay than what we've seen from many other 3rd person shooters now and yesterday, or show some of the other stuff they've been talking about— quieter moments, or the murmurs of soft body physics that came about with new details back in October, yet don't seem present in any of the footage we've seen.
As it is, this new clip didn't show us anything about the game that we don't already know.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure one of those melee sequences were shown in the video from February. Sort of a QTE-Plus thing.
