Custom titles override piped links?

As an example, Main/CSI has a custom title of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". So if you type {{CSI}} you get CSI.

Anyway, I was trying to simply link "CSI" by itself (as a quick joke) when I noticed the custom title. So I hit the Edit button and try a different link format — [[{{CSI}} CSI]] — but this also shows up as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation ?

Okay, I can understand that it's still an exact text match but it just doesn't feel right. Is this worth a tech fix or do we just remove the custom title from Main/CSI ? Or...?

If you put a space at the end of the pothole, it won't be overridden by the custom title.

I first tried doing that with curly braces by themselves, but it didn't work. E.g. {{CSI }} stayed {{CSI }}

The parser treats plain links like potholes. Thus, custom titles apply to both.

[[{{CSI}} CSI ]] displays as CSI . You do get that annoying extra space at the end, but as long as you're not trying to follow it with a period or comma, that shouldn't be a huge issue.

Well, if you're trying to follow it with a period or a comma, use a period or comma instead of the space.

The custom titler is weird. It focuses on the appearance of the link, not the markup behind it.

Partly because there could be multiple markups behind it. Remember that curly braces are the only way to link one-word or ALLCAPS article titles because there's no CamelCase for the parser to detect.

Seems fixed, so closing.
