Interestingly enough, when I recommended this comic to my brother, he accidentally started at the beginning of Angleworm instead of Curious Little Thing. He got all the way to after the Wadsworth's-face-collapsing-in-on-itself dream before he asked me about the (to him only referenced) giant bat incident, and I caught his error.

So in a way, he was sort of like Wadsworth Zane- he didn't "remember" why Broodhollow was so terrifying. Which is pretty cool, no?

Huh, that is an interesting result.

Did he reread Angleworm from the beginning at all then, and react to it differently? I remember there are a few pages that are completely innocuous if you don't know what the characters have forgotten.

He's reading Curious Little Thing, but he's gone into it with a much deeper sense of unease than he otherwise would have; I'm eagerly awaiting when he moves on to the next book and starts freaking the fuck out.

Someone in the comments raised a very good point.

A similar thought had occurred to me (by way of "anglerfish")... but normally don't you use bait which is smaller than the prey you are trying to catch? I'm not convinced that we've seen the real angleworm yet, but...

It occurs to me that some of those loose ends could be reconciled if Zane is the bait for something that hunts corpsebugs. 0_0

You don't want to know how close I came to hollering your post for spam, since it took me a few minutes of looking through that linked page to realize it was a wiki.

You (or whoever runs that wiki) might want to rework it a bit, and make it a little more obvious.

Well, Kris himself runs the wiki (or so I assume, since it is hosted on the chainsawsuit website), so I don't know if that has much likelihood to change. I didn't think it was that inobvious, though...

Now if it's real or just a dream, one mystery remains...
