I don't think the Crystal Empire is actually part of Equestria, just allied to it and sharing related species. But then again they call it an empire when it has yet to expand its territory at all so who knows if the setting is supposed to really make sense in that respect.

Well, one of Equestria's princesses basically assumed control of it as soon as it appeared, and it's treated as a city in the Equestria games. Yeah, whole setup is kinda weird.
Reaction Image RepositoryCadance is a dirty carpetbagger. She can't even spell her own name right yet becomes queen for life along with another Canterlot stooge as her husband? Pure cronyism.

Well, if it was an isolated, separate political entity in the past, but since coming back, Equestria just kind of, adopted it into itself since it wasn't really in much of a position to take care of itself at the time, would still make sense.
Then again, ponies seem to have no idea how to play I Spy, so them not knowing what an Empire actually is wouldn't be that big of a stretch.
Because Crystal Empire sounds cooler than Crystal Kingdom, which is probably why it's barely referenced to as such.
"No will to break."I dunno, I kinda like the way Crystal Kingdom sounds. It's got a nice alliterative ring to it.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Daring Do and the Skull of the Crystal Kingdom.
I'd read it.
Popping in for the first time. Watched Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games, then went back to watch parts of Equestria Girls. Kinda weird watching Sunset Shimmer be the villain after first watching her as the main protagonist for two movies.

"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimFor all the Early-Installment Weirdness, it's an important change to her character that justifies the first movie.
"No will to break."Indeed. Still, it was odd watching a character who had quickly grown on me be such a douchebag in her original appearance. It does make her attempt to talk down the other Twilight during her magic rampage very poignant though.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimSunset knows from her own experiences that Defeat Through Superior Firepower Means Friendship can hurt. She's not going to do it if she has too. If she can she'll try words.

Watching Friendship Games songs, just random stuff I noticed:
Either Flash and Bon Bon completely misunderstood the instructions for the Home Ec part, or they really suck at baking.
That has to be the smuggest smirk I've ever seen on Pinkie.
You'd think a nature guy and smart guy would know something about how to build a bird house. Did either of them even take Woodshop?
Actually I'm surprised the smart guy took the loss harder than the nature guy.
Twilight's later remark about how Crystal Prep students are self-centered makes sense here. The Wonderbolts all do the fist pumping thing together as a sign of unity, while half the Shadowbolts do it, but the rest strike up unique poses. Ironically for the school that actually wears uniforms they aren't keen on acting in unison. Likewise at the end, the Wonderbolts are all cheering on Sunset, while the Shadowbolts are pointedly looking the other way instead of doing the same for Twilight.
I like how you can see where Rainbow Dash trips up in the spelling bee; the very last vowel.
I also like Rarity's expression when it's her turn. It's like, "Uh... I have no idea how to spell this." X
How do they all suck at English this hard?
Wait, how did Lyra not make it do the second round? She didn't do anything wrong.

"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimI like that the equation isn't just random nonsense, it's actually a legitimate and appropriately difficult problem to work out, something that would be expected of students at Twilight and Sunset's level.
"No will to break."Just above Sunset's level in this case. Or maybe it's more likely the pressure and time limit just got her to trip up.
I suck at math. It looks like random swiggles to me regardless.
Being school administrators instead of princess probably makes Luna more well-adjusted than her pony counterpart, but it cost Celestia that near omniscience from 1000+ years of experience. In all the movies the principle always seems a step behind everyone else when the plot in concerned.
"Unleah the Magic" is probably the most blatant peer-pressure/carrot-and-stick song I've heard in a long time.
It's kinda funny that since human Twilight is such a pushover, the Crystal Prep version of Fluttershy is the closest that group has to a leader.
Speaking of Fluttershy, it's also funny that for once she was the one, unintentionally, making someone else feel bad after she mentioned human Twilight was a nice person, making Sunset's guilt about making her cry even worse. Everyone's expressions were like, "Shut up, Fluttershy!"
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimFlutters can be insensitive sometimes.
"No will to break."Regarding the proof that Twilight and Sunset needed to solve, it's almost certain that the two are basically equal. Look closely at the proofs written down, and you'll note they're exactly the same. In the end, Sunset simply wrote down the wrong answer.
For shame, Sunset. While normal kids just miss steps and come out with the wrong answer, you do everything right and still get the wrong answer.
Waifu wasn't answering her messages, trust and communication are key to a solid relationship.
"No will to break."The first movie is getting a theatrical re-screening in a couple weeks for some reason, at least in a theater near me.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Nice, I hope this means they're getting us ready for the next movie.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimWell we already know the next one is coming in Fall, and likely going to be a direct to TV/DVD like the last one.
It's coming out on Netflix first, then DVD and TV broadcast, IIRC.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkWait where did we get this information from?
I think so, though the exact specifics of it are kinda nebulous. Like how the Crystal Empire is apparently part of it somehow.
