Justice Avengers: Jump City at Dusk

Take a glass, down it in one, slam the glass back down so hard it almost cracks. Next glass, down in one again.

"Yeah, I think a few more's in order. Let's see what you're made of, running shorts."

"A trick?" Starfire asked Katana as she was curious about what happened, but nodded to both of them. "You both are very nice, I think!"

Kara's brief sadness hadn't gone unnoticed "Thing is, I've never gone to a school, not as you know it..." then turned to Star "Yes, trick, a few years he said he bought me a massage session when I was in the middle of intensive training. When I arrived to the place it turned out he had set up an ambush as part of the training... looking back I should have seen it coming" she explained.

Wolverine one upped his two opponents by downing five glasses of the drink in two gulps each. This was due to his glass being double sized. "I think that's ten for me, so I'll let you two catch up," he said.

The Bar

"Hey!" The barkeep called, arms folded across his chest, brow furrowed in fury. "You keep breaking my shit, I'm throwing each and every one of you out on your technicolor ass!" Which was an odd threat for a man only five inches taller than Wolverine.

The Bakery

Majestic gave an awkward smile to Ambush Bug as he left, before his eyes drifted back to She-Hulk, who was being handed her latte and cheese puffs. God, he hoped she wouldn't notice. That would be awkward.

Katana had a small flashback to the aftermath...

Her on her knees, panting heavily, roughened up, but victorious. Her uncle stood over her, proud, yet unsatisfied "do you understand why I did this?"

"No, sensei"

"What did you expect?"

"Some... respite"

The man chuckled "take two lessons from this, Little Tastu, one: the wolf may desire to hunt on the forest, but he might need to hunt in the desert. Two: A sudden gale might come and shake a willow, but it stands strong as it sways." he loved his parables...

"it was part of the training, to teach me a lesson. I asked him to turn me into a warrior, and he followed through" She said "it was hard, and painful but its the reason I can stand with you guys, as an equal"

"That was amazing! Kara told Tatsu as she had been hearing attentively her tale and the wisdom on Tatsu's uncle words. "I wish I had an uncle like that... well it's a good thing I have Majestic as my cousin!" she said with pride.

"I think you would totally beat me without superpowers."—Kara took a bite of her brownie—"Besides powers or not, what matters is our hearts," Kara said remembering Starfire's words.

"We won't break anything!" The Flash said, raising his hand. "However, you should bring a couple more to us. Today, my friend," The red blur muttered before drinking ten shots within two seconds. "... you-" He cleaned his lips, winking to Red She-Hulk. "-are gonna make a heck of a profit."

"The first to pass out'll cover the cost," Wolverine said, taking a double, waiting for Red Shulk to catch up....if she could.....

The Bar

The Bartender glowered, then shrugged and brought the three about ten more clean shot glasses, moving the used ones off the counter and dumping them in a sink. Except for the cracked ones, which he threw away.

Mind Realm...

Ambush Bug twitched, then tried to scuttle away. Unfortunately, the intruder had arrived. CLUNK. A cage appeared, trapping him. Oh, come on! A cage? LAME! My mind is a chaotic place. If anything can break out, it's me.

The intruder chuckled. Still as stupid as ever. I control your mind! I can choose what you know and what you don't know. Those friends you've made? He snapped his fingers. Gone. If you see them again, you won't recognize them. Now, let's have some fun. Time to bring back some repressed memories...

After thinking over Jonas' words carefully, Zod responded "Pray tell, what would happen should I refuse to attack this... Majestic, for you and did it for myself?"

Jonas smiled saccharinely, putting an arm around Zod's shoulder and pinching his cheek, like one would an impudent child.

"Ohhh, I get it. Mr. Gung-Ho Gestapo Mustachio just wants to kill the kid for himself, 'cause he's afraid of the kid getting too strong for him, but doesn't want to admit it in front of the stooge or his girlfriend." Jonas shrugged, looking up innocently. "Sure, I guess you could kill Majestic for yourself." Jonas's eyes flashed with a sudden idea. "But, if you play ball...I can give you Krypton. I mean, not really Krypton's long dead. Like, almost 500 years, it's a bunch of irradiated space rock. Useless. But! I have a machine called a World Shaper. I can give you...well, not Earth. I got plans for Earth. Summer Home. It's an Earth thing, you wouldn't get it, I've been here too long. But, I can give you Mars. I can give you plant life, and a breathable atmosphere, and water, and animals to kill or whatever." Jonas looked at Ursa with a tasteless smirk. "And, so that your ladyfriend over there doesn't have to pull the ol' clown car routine with her hoo-ha, I can even pull open a hole in the Phantom Zone, and let out all your incarcerated cohorts." Jonas stuck out a hand, grinning smugly. "So. We got a deal?"

A look of disgust was the first response that Jonas would receive from the Kryptonians (excluding Non, who for obvious reasons didn't entirely understand what was going on). For the most part, none of the three particularly understood most of Jonas' slang, so most of what he said would be lost to them. But what they could understand put them off of any chance of the trio teaming up with this perceived idiot. Clasping his arms behind his back, Zod sneered "No, we do not have a deal. I am not your lackey to be ordered about. I am General Zod of Krypton and soon to be ruler of this planet. Now are we going to part amicably or should we show ourselves out?"

After talking with Tatsu, Kara looked back at Majestic, who looked very timidly at She hulk and, and she hulk herself who seemed oblivious to him, even after she had talked with her.

"Excuse me a second, I will see how my cousin is doing" she told Starfire and Tatsu, as she peeked back at Majestic." But before I go...I will tell you a little secret," Kara whispered to them "I am really happy that I found him... but I am a little scared that I will be a disappointment. After all he is a great hero and I —" Kara stood up and smiled at them—"never mind".

As she walked towards Majestic, Kara remembered that Majestic probably had heard her speaking with his super hearing "I hope he was too distracted with green to listen," she thought to herself.

"Sorry for leaving you alone," she told her as she pulled a chair, while she tried to hide her nervousness."I think there is a lot we need to catch up," a faint smile appeared on her face.

"Should I talk to him about krypton?" she thought to herself. "Nah...I better save that for later, unless he asks me. Remembering all your family is gone, might sour this happy day, after all."

Kara played with her hair, having a hard time looking at Majestic's eyes. "Sure AB is crazy, but he is crazy in a fun way," she told him, as she tried to jump start a conversation.

Jonas sighed, shaking his head. He gave a shrug, examining his nails as he spoke, as if he had already dismissed the three in his mind.

"I mean, hey, if you wanna take your chances against extinction, be my guests. I'm sure that three people have as good a chance of surviving as, say, twenty. Last word of advice, though, y'might wanna lie low. They'll be ready for you this time, and it won't do your "World Conqueror" scthick much good if you get your butt kicked by a bunch of children every week." Jonas snapped his fingers, and with a Pop!, Zod, Non, and Ursa were suddenly in the wilderness of Northern California, several miles from Jump City.

The next few hours went by quickly enough for the Heroes of Jump City. And Ambush Bug. The patrons at the bar left with minimal difficulty after decidin that their drinking contest was a draw, mostly because the bottle they'd used had been empty by that point, which confused the bartender to no end. Those at the bakery headed back to their homes as well, with new friendships made, and secret desires still left unspoken in some hearts. Discovering that he had a roommate was an....interesting development for Majestic, to say the least. It seemed that an eventful day in Jump City had drawn to a close. But, at

A different Undisclosed Location, beneath the deep

See More, Private HIVE, Kyd Wykkd, and Billy Numerous stood in front of the Headmaster's office, trembling in abject terror. Why did he want to see them now? Was this their "disciplinary action"? Would they be flayed? Set on fire? Killed? Given to Black Manta? The doors hissed open dramatically, and they stepped in reluctantly. They could see the Headmaster's piercing red eyes from inside the all-consuming black shadow of his chair, and beside him was a girl dressed all in pink, whose body gave off a strange pink glow.

"Boys," the Headmaster began in a thick Middle European accent, then stopped to have a coughing fit. "I believe I was too harsh on you this morning. Since you are all so eager to represent HIVE, I thought I'd make it official. This is Star Sapphire. She will be joining you in a little group that the School Board and I have dubbed the "HIVE FIVE"." The four all breathed a small sigh of relief, but they stiffened immediately when the Headmaster spoke again. "However, to keep the five of you in top shape, and to make sure that you do not fail in this...extracurricular activity, I have assigned for you a pair of," the Headmaster stopped to chuckle softly and sinisterly, "Tutors." The wall behind the Headmaster began to split down the middle, A searing light white emanating from it as two silhouettes stepped forward. "The First is a woman from our sister organization, who has stepped away from their goose-stepping histrionics to share in the future of villainy. The second, was actually a hero until some time recently. But, he came to me and said that he tired of the "petty Mortal concept of Morality", and wanted to play on the side of devils for a time. Say hello, boys."

Out of the light stepped two figures, male and female. The woman was a muscular, curvaceous woman, dressed in a tight-fitting red bodysuit with yellow gloves and boots. Web-like wings covered her underarms, and a mask covered most of her face.◊ At her side, the man was dressed in green and black with accents of gold. His pale face seemed to only be able of expressing various degrees of sinister, and his black hair was greasy and unkempt.◊ The woman took an extra step forward and smiled coyly as the words left her lips.

"Hail HIVE."

"Drop the Hammer!"

It had been several days since the appearance of the Kryptonians in Jump City, and things were moving along rather well. However, there had been recent reports of several members of the "Bang Baby" community going missing in the last few days, and the strange Sepia Fog had rolled in the day before. However, the Fine Folks at Hammer Tech had arrived to clean that up, and that seemed to be the end of the problem. It was a pleasant afternoon for the Justice Avengers as they all went about their normal business.

High above the clouds, Majestic was trying to teach his cousin Kara how to fly. On the off-chance they'd be seen, Majestic had made Kara a red-and-white costume. The material was just regular fabric, but it was more for disguise than for Kara to actually fly around and do superheroics. Majestic didn't know how to teach someone to fly, since he just sort of tried, and it worked. But, he was trying.

"Keep your back straight, one arm tucked in, and your legs back." He said, trying to show his cousin.

Meanwhile, Wally West, better known as The Flash, would be receiving a phone call from his "friend"/publicist, Damien Darhke.

And speaking of Hammer Tech, Justin Hammer himself was expected to take questions from the press that very afternoon about Hammer Tech's future in Jump City, and about the school he was developing for extremely academically gifted youngsters.

In the ocean, several miles outside Jump City, a HIVE operative in appropriate scuba gear tapped on the hull of the submarine where Black Manta made his base of operations, with new orders from the Headmaster.

And for Kamala Khan, Robbie Reed, and Suzie Shoemaker, the bell had rung to signal the end of classes that day at Jump City High School.◊

"Ambush Bug" hopped around the room, waving around a giant flag. "Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo!" He looked like some kind of cartoon duck. Cautiously, he peeked outside to see if anyone was watching. After one more obnoxious "WOO-HOO!", he settled down into what looked like a trance.

Mind...

Ambush Bug had been in the cage for a while now. He couldn't be sure of the exact time, only that it was getting really boring. Fortunately, he had developed a fun way to distract the intruder when he interacted with the heroes.

"YODEL-OHHHHHHHH-EEEEEE-LLAAAAYYYY-WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oooooohhhhhhhh, my momma is a tv, and I'm just a humble Bug, but I know the way of the mystical MOOOONNNNNNNNNNN, and I will escape!"

Argh!Yyle (though the Bug didn't recognize him, due to some memory shifting), ground his teeth in frustration. "I'm trying to talk to Majestic! Quiet! Here, have this!" Snapping his fingers, a dog bowl inside the cage filled up with chicken nuggets. Ambush Bug started barking and eating from the bowl.

"Delicious! I can give up some dignity for the sake of some food. WOOF! WOOF! WOOOOOOOOOFFFF! YODEL-OH-OBEY-ME! WOOOF!"

Wally West was having a whale of a time. Currently, he wasn't in his comfy apartment in downtown Jump City... no, in fact, he was in one of the rooms of the JA West base that he had designed along with the Fixer. The story of how he got there was a long one, but perhaps the image of him sleeping right besides the voluptuous form of Red She-Hulk, both of them underneath the sheets (the air conditioner wouldn't turn off) told that story without the need of words.

He remembered how he got there. After they left the bar, Wolverine got on his bike and mumbled something about Starfire before setting off. Wally offered to take Red She-Hulk to the base, and instead of running, they walked. They talked. And by the time they got to the base, Wally doesn't know how, they were already making out. ''Savagely.' He had almost forgotten that Majestic was sleeping in the base— although considering all the other noises they made during the night, he felt sorry for the guy— and after a quick, two second run where he basically made sure everything in the room was just fine, the two got to work.

And, oh man, Wally had never felt more alive.

Grumbling to himself, reaching for his phone on the drawer, brushing aside the costume he had thrown around. Tapping the 'call back in a minute' message button, Wally brushed his hair back, taking a deep breath and moving over to wake up Red She-Hulk. "Hey. Red." He whispered, smiling. "Uh... you awake?"

"I knew it." Red She-Hulk mumbled, slowly waking up. "Running shorts, I knew exactly what kind of lover you were gonna be. Too loud...and too fast. Should've gone with the canuck..."

"It wasn't all that bad, was it?" Wally asked, trying to brush aside her hair. "I mean, you liked my... tricks." He said, referring to his control over speed as his smug grin grew wider. "You sounded like you did, after all."

Bart's day just couldn't get any better. Wally hadn't come home last night, so he essentially transformed that place into a giant pizza party. He had invited that Star-Lord guy from earlier and they had asked what seemed like an infinite amount of pizzas, played videogame after videogame and probably stood up way past bedtime. Right now, Bart had just woken up in the bed and was eating his third bowl of Iron Man Cereal ("power in every bite!") and watching another marathon of cartoons by essentially playing entire seasons of his favorite shows in ultra fast forward.

His alarm rung, which could only mean one thing: classes had ended in the local high school. Which meant he could hang around and play soccer with the other kids— whilst also oogling at the pretty girls. In an instant, Bart was off his pajamas and in his casual clothes- t-shirt, jeans, running shoes and a red Flash cap- rushing off to the school, a red and yellow blur passing through the streets.

As Rob and Suzie started walking out of their classrooms, she noticed he looked dour, and spoke to him:

"So what's bothering you now?"

"...I'm still uncomfortable with leaving- AB in our- playground. Yes, I know I said I'd give him a chance. But he's still crazy, and we left him alone in a place with- delicate equipment."

"Oh, it will be OK. The place must have good safety measures or the others wouldn't have allowed him to stay. Give him a break."

He sighed, in resignation. Then he stared at her.

" ...What?"

"...Do you... feel like talking today?"

"About what?"

"Whatever it was bothering you at-"

"Uhh, look, I need to go now, see ya later!" and she ran off, leaving him behind, and baffled.

Mentally, Suzie cursed. She considered herself smart and strong. So why couldn't she talk about her feelings?? Oh if only she had someone *besides Robbie* she could speak with!

"..uhm sure!" Said Kara, while she tried to smile, her eyes were obviously trying to hide he fact that she was, utterly, terrified. To the point she couldn't think too much about her costume.

She was trying to grave herself , arm in arm from Majestic, as she looked down to the distant floor below." We sure, are really high, up here!— She heard Majestic words —"...Ok Here I go!" she said as she dropped Majestic's grab, "I can do this, I can do this," she said to reassure herself ... And then she began to fall as hard as a rock.

Her eyes were closed and her hair was waving through the air, as she could feel the cold winds rushing through her body "ahhh!" she screamed, as she began to wave her arms, and legs as if she was drowning in a pool.

"... wait I should be in the ground right now,"she thought to herself. Kara opened one eye to peek, as she quickly noticed that she was in fact floating but shaking and barely moving. her "flying" lacked any grace and was closer to splashing water.

"I did, I did! Cousin you are the best teacher!" She told Majestic, excitedly.

She tried to Keep her back straight, one arm tucked in, and her legs back, just as Majestic had taught her, but she could only maintain that posture for a few seconds, before she lost altitude and began to wave her arms as if she was trying to swim up. Her awkward moments barely helped her to float, let alone move"

"Uhm not bad for a first try right, cous?" she smiled to Majestic.

Honestly, Wolverine would have thought he'd win if there was more booze. As he left the bar, he noticed Flash and Red Shulk walking away. Emphasis: walking. He smirked. Oh yeah, I won, he thought. No way those two would hit it off that quickly if they were sober. Anyway, he went over to the bakery to pick up Star and the two went home.

Since the Kryptonians, things were pretty quiet during the next few weeks. Aside from a few incidents involving Bang Babies going on power trips being the most serious along with a joke villain or two as well as actual crooks, this were actually getting kind of boring. Wolverine, while enjoying periods of peace when he can, knew any extended periods of calm would eventually make way for some sort of craziness, especially in this day and age. He tried to push that thought to the back of mind though.

Right now, he was currently teaching he newest student Tatsu on ways to defend against someone who directly attacks pressure points. While not an expert himself, the mutant knew he was knowledgable enough to give at least a basic course. Mixing it up by fighting dirty as well helped to spice up the learning process as well.

Wally's phone rang again, almost immediately. If it was possible for a phone to sound annoyed, it was currently doing so.

Majestic had been ready to swoop in and catch Kara the moment she started falling, but he smiled proudly when she was able to catch herself.

"You're doing great, Kara!" He said encouragingly, then looked down at the city below. "You want to head back down? Your friends are probably wondering where you are."
