Magic and Myths and stuff exist even with the sprawling metropolises of modern times, and are not banished by it, in fact there helped by it....

You see mages need an energy source.... Mana, which is just like any other energy in this world, nuclear, electric, any thing like that.... it can be measured, quantified and contained, and in fact most Mana COMES from electricity...

This is why Magic and Tech bounce off each other, and advance at the same rate.... an Ancient Mage only had a Baghdad Battery to work with, for him the power of mastering fire was when she could use it to light some twigs ablaze, but now.... with modern power generators, and modern batteries, the best fire mages can go as far as to induce nuclear fusion.

Mages are powerful and respected, most of whom get a name based off there signature accomplishment in the manipulation of mana, however they are rare... a mutation is needed to allow humans to interact with mana, and for most it is focused through implants, think the biotics in mass effect since that was the inspiration here....

This leads to some discrimination, as common people tend to wonder why only the mages were blessed, but mostly it leads to governments attempting to control them.... no not in the way you think.... see attempting to directly control some one who can spark a star in there hands is fucking stupid, the control comes from benefits, each of the worlds countries attempts to bribe mages under its flags, with offerings of lifestyle, education, money, what ever you can think.

Military is a mostly human creation, and mages do exist in it, however due to rarity, most of them are artillery platforms, not front-line soldiers, if you want a front-line solider, look to the good old humans....

The reason for this is that despite magical races existing, they don't exactly have the humans capacity for well.... rapid procreation, this is not to say there rare.... but they don't number in the billions like humans do, most species could probably have there populations fit comfortably in a single large metropolis like new york. (this is still 10 million members)

Cybernetics are quite common, but not to ambiguity, you would not exactly give some one a second glance for having them, but a lot of people do... they cover the full range of stuff from enhancement, to appearance.... most rely on well full scale machinery though.... outside of so called smartskin, which is effectively just "Hey lets look young until we die" nano-tech enhancements are restricted to the government.

Magical Weapons exist, as do Magical cybernetics, the are items built to channel mana as part of there function, purpose built and will even work in the hands of a mortal, because there mana comes from a special type of battery inserted into them, however, like always the high end stuff is restricted, you cant exactly have civies throwing around fireball fists, and the batteries are expensive since they need to be recharged by a mage, however this is a common service that a mages collage offers, the expense does not equate to rarity, it equates to getting mages to do something so trivial.

Artifacts however are a different story, due to magic and technology advancing in parallel they are kind of non existent, well they do exist, but there not super powered things, there museum pieces, antiquities, sorry that's just the way a parallel development thing works out
