I think I'm going to stick with my PC for some time.
I seriously doubt anything the 720 will do could convince me.
Seriously, while it wasn't horrible, all I saw was tech-demos. You will have to do far more than that to convince me of this system.
Yeah, ever since I got my gaming PC that's been my major source of gaming. 'Specially since the kids like to watch Netflix, and who am I to deny them?
Again, I honestly don't think it was for gamers beyond the previews of the games. Seemed like it was more for developers and the press than it was for the actual gamers.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92Checking the store today, The only HD collection i didn't see was the ratchet and clank one.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92Sooooo my breakdown is...
- Controller: Looks alright. It'll be hard to top the classic PS one though. It's endured so long for a reason. Touchpad, motion controls and share button will remain completely unused by me and will do little besides drive up the price and get shoved into games randomly to highlight the new feature to the detriment of the product as a whole; hello Gravity Rush dodge mechanic.
- Interconnectivity: I don't use facebook and I never will.
- Power: To say this isn't as huge a leap compared to every other generation switch is an understatement. The only thing that looked like it simply couldn't be done with current hardware was maybe Media Molecule's presentation and perhaps the scale of the cities in the new Killzone.
- Knack: This looks interesting. Dimestore kid-targeted fluff, but they seem to be creating a fun little platformer/brawler here. And hey! Orcs with guns!
- Killzone Shadowfall: It looks like the Killzone 2 trailer all over again. Vekta city looks absolutely beautiful. The difference between it and the Helghast city is... Hilarious. I'm not exactly hurting for shooters in this game's vein, in any case.
- Infamous Second Son: I like Infamous a lot, and this looks like it's going to continue what made the other games great. Can't say I care for what looks like the new protagonist though. Then again, I can't condemn him for twelve seconds of screentime.
- Driveclub: It's a racing game.
- Deep Down: Not much to judge here, just a lot of hints. Something tells me it will change more than anything else shown so far before development is complete. I'm always up for Dragonslaying and destructible environments though.
- The Witness: This looks interesting. Environments and soundtrack paint a picture of ethereal beauty. Not sure how compelling the gameplay is, but Jonathan really seems to nail what's important in an open-world game.
- Destiny: Stop @$%&teasing us! If it's significantly different from Halo you should show that to us right now. If not, well, a lot of MMOFPS games have been in the works promising what Destiny is. Anyone remember Huxley?
- Watch Dogs: An intriguing concept. The world really seems alive around you, which is great. I just hope it doesn't degenerate into one-button parkour and stop'n'pop gunfights.
Hmm. I usually end up being really optimistic about these things but... Oh well. Good night y'all!

Yeah. An event like this was to entice the press and the shareholder. Wait until E3 and GDC for the games.
Honest question. Do they stand to lose anything by including retrocompatibility?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.No. Not at all.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92I don't see the power thing as all that bad...and really, I think it would require an extremely excessive amount of power to make something that would actually look like a major upgrade to this generation's graphics.
Welcome to th:|Beorc: Given what happened to BBS that's unlikely.
True. But it makes me wonder why do a new generation at all.
Because people are demanding it.
You can tell that publishers don't want to go to a new gen.
Why do you think this gen has been so long? We hit a ceiling here.
I kinda wonder the same thing, but I guess it's just "someone else released a new console, now we have to get a new one out soon so people will pay attention to us again". That's business, I suppose.

Welcome to th:|Probably. I still haven't seen anything this gen I wanted to see going into it: Namely, scale. I thought if Dynasty Warriors gave us such large-looking battles on the PS 2 the PS 3/360 would have HUGE battlefields with tons going on. In fact, things actually got more linear for some reason.
I still think they should wait five more years before releasing a new console. I just don't see it working out well for them given the economy and their financial trouble.
That probably has to do with the seventh gen development costs skyrocketing.

Publishers just don't want to move on and learn new things....
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92@Shirow Shirow: They probably realized at some point that total nonlinearity isn't always a good idea. And also what said.

Don't forgot that it was mostly western publishers that demanded a next-gen console and saying it repeatedly at the press. While eastern publishers said nothing at all & obviously not caring. Continuing on doing their thing on making games.
PhewBig difference between "Total nonlinearity" and "Give me some goddamn choice in the matter"
Regardless, it has very little to do with scale. You can make a HUGE battle with a very small budget, seeing as all you need to do is put down the units and let the AI do the work. You don't need to heavily script every burst of gunfire.
Hell... Earth Defense Force 2017 probably had some of the largest scale and the smallest of budgets.

I don't think it works like that lol.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92I couldn't help but feel Sony was side-stepping the main issues people had about this new console.
I was impressed by the upcoming Capcom game but...can't I get a game where I get to PLAY as the giant, fire-breathing, people eating dragon? It'd be like Spyro the Dragon but 120% cooler.
Beorc: I want the HD re-releases and several other games for the PS 3 and since the PS 4 can't play old games I need both.
