I like to compare Lapis to Anakin Skywalker, temperament wise. At least, ROTS Anakin anyway.
That might be going a bit far, but still. She's a big depressed ball of resentment and bitterness.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Going off topic, but how strong do you actually think the diamonds are? They have be either strong or not fight as diamonds are hard to cut but very fragile. They can also be set on fire.
And homeworld seems to really picky about what counts a different kind of gem. Rubies and Sapphires are both kinds of Corundum. Rubies are a rare form that is red. Sapphires are pretty much everything else that isn't a Ruby or pure Corundum. And even with their different colors they are pretty much the same thing far more than any real life quartz gems.

When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons.Clearly these aren't ordinary gems, or are they?
"Garnet no! Stop!"
"Your father was selling gems, Steven."
"Ordinary gems?"
"Those gems were babies!"
"You weren't using them, I couldn't know."
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."There doesn't seem like there's any limit on the types of powers gems could potentially have. They all have gem weapons, least Steven can communicate through dreams, Lapis can do pretty much anything with water, Pearl can create holograms of herself, Sapphire can see into the future. There's no reason the Diamonds couldn't be reality warpers or something. And if they are able to maintain control over such an extremely powerful population, they must be pretty powerful (or at least be able to create that illusion) There's also the fact that size correlates with strength and they're frickin huge
It doesn't seem they could use gem weapons back in the war given that there is a ton of normal weapons in that battle field.
I was talking about how strong the diamonds are. I'm just saying that have to do a really good job at protecting their gems from being shatter or set on fire.
When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons.I'm sure they could use gem weapons during the war. Just doesn't mean they always do.
Why does Pearl have all those swords and axes and so on if she has an infinite supply of spears?
Oh really when?I always thought those were all Rose's. She only had a shield so she needed to have something else to fight with.
The ones in the armory are probably hers but Pearl has her own personal collection in her room remember?
Plus the swords she uses during training with Connie.
Oh really when?My theory is that Pearl learned to summon weapons during the war.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.So am I remembering things wrong or does Pearl just completely let Steven fall to his apparent death in one episode?
My various fanfics.Rose's Scabbard, when she's on the floating rock thingy.
She turns to go catch him but stops and goes back to sitting once she sees that he grabbed onto some vines though. Not sure if she would have made it in time though.
Oh really when?"Maybe if he dies, Rose will come back, which is the only thing that matters anymore."
I am now reminded why Pearl used to be my least-favorite character.
My various fanfics.Pearl was having a bad day.
Jasper fought in the war on the side of Homeworld and she can summon a helmet.
I don't think Pearl would actually be happy if Steven died. Even if Rose came back.

Yeah, that doesn't fit her at all. She clearly loves Steven a hell of a lot.
Oh really when? She was lost in thought at the time. IIRC
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I think Pearl just likes swords more. Some people have even pointed out that she tends to use her spear like a sword.
When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons.I think she would have jumped to get him if he didn't grab onto the vines.
Seriously, that was probably one of Pearl's worst days.
Lapis.
They both have pretty good reasons to be salty though.
Pearl doesn't help Steven back up after he almost falls, Lapis attacks and almost drowns him...OTP of the century.
(I wouldn't say "completely" though, she did look down to make sure he was still alive. And yeah, she was having a complete breakdown.)
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I like to think that if she didn't see him catch that vine, she would have actually done something.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenThat's the certain outcome.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
In Gravity Falls counting fingers is a key plot token and they still chop off fingers from little baby hands.
Steven always has a full set of fingers and toes and it makes his hands and feet look SD.
