They were? It was that long ago, huh?
Currently writing something. Currently procrastinating.Give the fans something gay to write fanfics about before the next hiatus, that is the SU way.
No wait, that's just every episode.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I read a SU fic for the first time a little while ago, one which has its own page here. Notwithstanding the question of writing and characterization quality, it's surreal to see what were apparently early and quite incorrect interpretations of Gem biology (mineralogy?) and history.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty. The biology thing is a bit odd, because we more or less got an explanation as to how their powers work since "Steven the sword Fighter". That they can store things in their Gems, are solid projections made into whatever matter they like, have powers tied to their states of mind and emotions, can shapeshift, damaged Gems cause strange effects and distortions, broken Gems are used to power a lot of their technology, and have a massive amount of energy inside their stones that can be gathered from their surroundings.
Well, that aired April 9 2014, while this fic was finished by that January 10 (between "Bubble Buddies" and "Serious Steven").
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty. Why you should never write fan fics before the mid-season finale.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. Why you should never assume things we don't know while writing a Fan fic...
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Wait. Yes it was against canon even at the time. Rose died in an accidental death in that fic, not "sacrificed her physical existence" which was stated in the second episode.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. The fic did say that Steven had believed that Rose had given up her life birthing him, and that the Gems had flat-out lied to cover up the accident. A bit different from actually seeing Gems having their, uh, gems pried out of their bodies and remaining corporeal (but powerless).
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Man, the early show is so much different. Well, partially because of the art and tone, but the foreshadowing's been there since the beginning.
As a show that hinges on emotionally complicated and troubled characters with close and complex relationships that may me familial or romantic depending on how you look at them, including an ability they all share that itself may or may not be romantic (or an outright allegory to sex) depending on who uses it and why, Steven Universe is one of those series whose fanfiction I'm decidedly wary of.
But I've been looking around it every once in a while, and I did find a lot of good. I think my favorite was one that told Coach Steven from Sugilite's point of view. It brought up a good point that's since made me want to see Sugilite in the show again (which will probably never happen): all the gems fusions love Steven just as much as their components, and that does include her in her own way.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I read a lot of fic. I should do some more recs probably.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Honestly, the fic isn't that bad. I mean, yeah, you're gonna come across a fair deal of sin between and among the various Gems, but they're legal several times over.
Yoy have to look out for a few Steven/Connie smut pieces that that doesn't age them up first (*shudders violently*) but those are gladly few and far between.
Well, archiveofourown has ratings and tags and such...so it's easy to look out.
p.s. It's all about finding that Goldilocks zone of sin, nothing that could get you sent to hell, but a dash of spice to make things interesting.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Whereas I simply find most erotic content in amateur writing, fanfiction or otherwise, boring as hell. Mostly because of bad prose.

While imperfect for a small handful of reasons, I believe that Steven Universe is one of the better shows conceptually that Cartoon Network has thought of in a very long time. My favorite characters are Greg and Ruby.
It can't be helped.Over The Garden Wall wasn't that long ago.
Don't forget Young Justice and Simbionic Titan.
And Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated.
Adventure Time, and (debatably) The Amazing World Of Gumball and Regular Show.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Haven't seen much of Clarence, but I've heard it's pretty good.
I think you're going past the point of "conceptual" now.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Fair enough.
Or just the latest Stevenbomb in general.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
