A target audience isn't necessarily the same despite the age being the same.

Persona, at least in the more recent games, offers a very different experience and has gained a following that doesn't have a lot of overlap with Shin Megami Tensei's main series's fans. Apples and oranges.

its the damnedest thing. its the one thing you dont expect to see in a cross over between 2 franchises with no relation (to my knowledge) to such a thing.

Probably. It looked super good and I was super interested even before I realized what it was.

no it does look fine, its just completely not that i expected.

you put SMT in the crossover and i expect SMT. i got maybe a few glimpses of it and nearly nothing.

i dont hate this, im just disappointed as someone expecting more smt. (and to clarify, smt as in not persona)

Genealogy has hipster cred.

But seriously, Genealogy has a darker and more intricate and morally grey story, and it tries something new that hasn't been repeated. Everyone remembers the pairing up aspect, but the epic battles spanning whole countries in a chapter, with multiple castles and shifting objectives, yeah.

I just don't get people judging it before we've even really SEEN anything. I mean, this is more than what we've gotten in forever, but even then, it's still not enough to judge to entire game, I think.

no, we're judging the trailer that was shown to us. its shown to us precisely to give us an idea of what to expect. we're not judging the game, we're judging what the trailer lead us to expect.

this isnt complicated. "this doesnt seem like my type of game" is a judgement based on the tone of what was shown to us. how is that unfair?

now saying "its anime, its going to be shit" that'd be unfair judging of a game we know nothing about. but hashil basically just said that everything in that trailer suggested it wasnt the type of game for him.

First Impression are everything for humans.

The original trailer's only hopeful sounding music was the FE theme that played in the original trailer, while the sound after it and during SMT segment was darker.

... And you really can't showcase scenes with a girl's clothing vanishing, female characters winking at the camera, peppy anime theme song music, and garish character designs, on top of changing the title, which was likely done to distance the game from its roots, and expect people to think it will be any thing like a mainline SMT game.

Eh, I guess it just seems overtly cynical to me, but people will do whatever.

"SMT is getting another console game! And Persona has nothing to do with it! It's gonna be awesome!"

The new title is a pun on it being a SMT spin off that's also a Fire Emblem game. It's basically the same thing as "SMT x FE" but with actual cleverness!

The trailer becomes much darker in tone halfway through, I noticed, complete with a shot of a SMTI-style city in ruins.

Wonder if the game will be the same way?

It lives. That's all that matters. Now to beat SMT 4 before next year.

Hey, I don't even play Fire Emblem and I noticed plenty of Fire Emblem stuff.

I get the feeling people were expecting this be a lot like one game or the other, instead of being it's own thing.

Off course people expected one thing and got the other. Just compare this new trailer with the 2013 one and say with a straight face it's the same game. My only joy is that this is game is not dead.
