Yeah, putting aside my personal distaste for the guy, this can only be a good thing for the game's publicity.
Also, Strife's apparently considering pushing out Milla's Adventure Mode sometime next month, to tide us over while he continues to chips away at Spade/Torque.
Moon◊I'm actually tempted to feed eshop money into my Wii U and get Freedom Planet there as well.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Jeez, first the Sonic Twitter, now Totalbiscuit?
What next, Pewdiepie?
Hope Sega doesn't try to buy out the IP. That could only end badly.
I have a feeling Woofles and Strife won't take the deal.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Still not on the Wii U, I presume?
I mean, the Nindies interview video (which I just realized wasn't posted in this thread, so see below) said mid-September, but heck if I know how things are progressing.

Moon◊It just came out today on Wii U Eshop!
The Protomen enhanced my life.Hopefully this gets people to hype it. It needs the love.
For me it was an instant buy as soon as I saw it :D
It also comes with an update, which, I presume, is to fix the bug that got it delayed in the first place.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Cool. I'll pick it up when I have the time/money.
I have a message from another time...The original game was written in Multimedia Fusion 2, how'd they get it running on Wii U?
I wouldn't be surprised if thr answer was "they rewrote it from thr bottom up" like how Hotline Miami handled it's PS 3/4/Vita ports but eh, you never know.
I still don't think it's all that good as a Sonic game but it's alright for what it is I guess.
I bought it when it was discounted on Steam. Unfortunately, this is another game where I adore the characters and suck at that kind of game...
And I don't think Sega will touch this. They could y'know, just make a new classic Sonic game! (Particularly, Sonic Advance, Rush, Generations or Boom 3DS.)

My Deviant Art account. There might be art there. Sometimes. They used a thing called Chowdren that exports the game to C(++?) code, allowing them to port it to things other than Windows computers. Same for how AVGN Adventures got ported to the Wii U, since that was also an MMF2 game.
I'm liking how the Miiverse is going. I can't get over Millem Dafoe.

Moon◊The first ever (Miiverse) meme for Freedom Planet...
ADD IT!
(I would, but I can't explain the joke, though.)
My Deviant Art account. There might be art there. Sometimes.Right, it's got miiverse memes.
Now all we need is a bajillion let's plays by people who have no business owning microphones or recording software, and terrible OCs who are all dragons because OF COURSE they are!
Oh, that already started a while ago with the PC version.
Moon◊I've seen a lot of complaints about the story's tone being awkwardly jumping from light to dark, but I disagree. Some cutscenes are a tad longer than strictly necessary, but even then that's like cutting out 3 minutes of cutscene.
Lord Brevon is one of the most effective video game villains in a while because the rest of the game without him is girly and incredibly lighthearted for the most part.
The torture scene wouldn't be nearly as effecting otherwise.
"No will to break."I actually thought Brevon's part in the plot was pretty weak, in large part because we get next to no context for what he's doing. I mean, it's obvious that he's a nasty person overall, but the story doesn't seem to know what to do with him.
He says he's doing it because he wants to save his world, Torque says he's lying and that he brought his world's troubles on himself, we're supposed to take Torque's word for it, and that's about it. Otherwise he's just a Generic Doomsday Villain.
It wasn't until he turned Milla into a monster that I got invested in anything he did. Most of the secondary villains were far more interesting.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. How about the part where he chops off that guy's head in the intro?
Or the text about how he's conquered many worlds and corrupted countless heroes? Just because it's only text I guess?
Brevon's motivation to me, is only "I'm just minding my own business conquering the galaxy, but I'm low on power, I gotta stop over at this planet that has some power source I need, I'll just grab it so I can fly off and continue my conquest."

My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! It's like he can't COMPREHEND the idea that the planet he's stealing an ancient infinite energy source from might need the damn thing.
It's just a shame he didn't realize that when Precursors leave gifts for primitive civilizations they have ways of ensuring the thing is protected, even if they have to go full Xanatos Roulette to do it.
I'm sure his thought process was: "Who cares about these plebs? Clearly, I need it more than you losers do! Just give it to me, ok?"
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! When did I say he wasn't evil? The problem is that's pretty much all there is to him (hence Generic Doomsday Villain), but the story keeps pretending there's actually an epic plot there, so he comes off as weak.
From early on in the story I kept expecting Torque to be lying and secretly evil, maybe even working for Brevon, simply by noticing that the plot as he told it was half-assed. I figured they were doing a "naive heroes" thing, and assumed the ambiguities and contradictions were signs that there was more to it, and then it just turned out that's all there was.
All in all, the plot might've been better suited to a more classic platformer approach to its plot - it's actually no more complicated than the old Sonic games' most complicated plots ('Eggman does evil and fools hero A into attacking hero B'), but there's all this excess window dressing that the game tries to give developed plot to.
For most of the game they handle it pretty well, it's just Breton that comes off as half-done.

So The Cynical Brit played this game for 15 minutes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGPe-KewvwQ

"I've heard Freedom Planet described as a Sonic clone. I'd call it a worthy Sonic successor, it's that good."
We all know what Total Biscuit does to games, right?
